  3. I've never used the stop watch on my 76cs other than to play with it right after I got it ,but I think it will do that? Edit: Forgot do
  4. I would also put a fuse on both the positive and negative sides. Just remember that everything will be on even when the vehicle is turned off. If you forget to turn everything off you might have a dead battery the next morning
  5. I'd get tired running those 18 bases.
  6. I wonder if a letter to the editor of the local news paper might be more effective.
  7. It seems like I had a similar problem in that my computer would ask for the drives after I had already installed them, but after I reinstalled them it would work again. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.
  8. The only thing I can think of is to remove the driver and then reinstall it. I hope that helps.
  9. I think he meant boonedocking.
  10. I was thinking of the handhelds. I'm taking a trip next week and I've setup my 76cs with the laptop. I'll probably find out what you mean about looking at it's screen. I thought all the bigger units used the Garmin proprietary cards or a compact flash card.
  11. A few thoughts: 1) Whould it be your responsibility to show that you didn't know about the hidden hazzard? 2) Who decides what is reasonalbe? 3) Can you jump over the hazzards in your orange car? Also not a lawyer or anything even close to lawyer, never sued or been sued. I'm just thinking on the keyboard(not always a good move for me). As for why: If they think there is money to be had someone would try it. Not only would the cache owner be sued but Geocacheing.com, Groundspeak, Jeramey, the GPS manufacture, who ever made the shoes they were wearing, and anybody else they could think of. 1) I think if you are being sued it is your responsibility to prove. 2) The courts: From what I understand That is the main question that has to be answered. "What would a Reasonable person do." 3)I suppose if you attached wing & rockets or some thing.
  12. This is only a guess but: maybe if you put the card in a reader and edited your registry to tell enrout where to find it? The advantages of the pc over the gps are larger display, and voice prompts.
  13. I play a version of Hunt the GPS but I do it in the cab of the pickup.
  14. I looked at the PSP when they first came out but I just couldn't stomach having to buy and re-buy media in another format. Especially one that is completely proprietary. Edit: Spelling
  15. While it is true that anyone can bring a lawsuit for any reason, this doesn't mean that they will win damages. GC.com has a pretty good disclaimer linked from all cache pages. (I think you also have to agree to it when you create an account.) I suspect that an agressive defense will keep them out of too much trouble. I agree that a good defense would probably keep them out of trouble, I just figure that paying for the defense would be the killer. Thats probably the best that could be done, and them hope people heed your advice.
  16. Unfortunately here in the US. you can be sued for anything. I'm really afraid that this will eventually be the down fall of Geocacheing.com and Geocacheing in general. One of these days someone will do something stupid and hurt them self and then turn around and sue them out of business because of it.
  17. It's just a higher resolution coordinate. Just Round off. Edited to add: I think.
  18. When you got cachemate it came with a program (Cachemate converter) that stays on you computer. You can use it to convert to the cachmate format and then when you next hotsync it will be on your palm. I think GSAK will do that too I just Don't use it myself
  19. From what I've seen I hope they don't mention Geocacheing. I think I read in the thread about the wife swap thing that it never happened.
  20. I can't remember if you have to email Garmin or go to the website. Whichever way it is they will email you the unlock codes for your units.
  21. I don't see it as Garmin cheating. When I found out that there were two unlocks I looked at the second one as if it was a bonus, and not that you were forced to buy two at a time. I also don't think that I should be able to use it on as many units as I want (at least not at the same time), or that it's OK to share with every one I know. I just think that you should be able move the maps from an old unit to a new one. You are correct in that I need to upgrade anyway, but it would be nice to be able to use the old maps on the new GPSr instead of having to wait until I could afford to buy both at the same time. Then I could upgrade to get the newer maps, not just because I have a different GPS. I'm sure that Garmin could allow this and still keep me from sharing them. I also think that this would be a big selling point for Garmin because I would be less tempted to buy another brand. If I can't use the maps that I have then why can't I let the person who gets my old unit use them. If I could offer someone the maps when someone with another brand can't I would think they would be more likely to go for, and stick with, Garmin. I don't see why they should be lost just because I trade. That seems wastefully to me.
  22. That would be neat. I don't think I've ever actually seen or held a hockey puck. Send it south so we can see one.
  23. If it bothers you at all (and it shouldn't) do as Jennifer&Dean said, note in the log who found what. But I agree with briansnat "if it they did it alll the time for the sole purpose of cranking up find counts, it would be a bit cheesy." To be honest I'm surprised someone hasn't gotten together a group to take on CCC. If they did that just to beat her and started bragging about it then to me that would be extremely cheesy and seem like cheating in some way.
  24. or forget the coin, the paper, and Geocaching all together. Just put a number on a web site somewhere and let people log that.
  25. About a year ago I was playing around using some software to create what I thought were some pretty good looking icons. Unfortunately I cant remember what I used and even after several searches I can't find them on my computer. I'm think that the software I used was specifically for making icons for garmin but now I don't know. I know that doesn't help but I'm also hoping that someone knows and will tell us about software for this purpose. It might jog my memory.
