  1. Have you guys considerd making a repository so that people can share the maps they have made.
  2. You do know that GPSr doesen't work that way? Ah, but your cell phone does work that way now. That's why I keep mind wrapped in tin foil. Or better yet, turned off unless I need to make a call.
  3. You do know that GPSr doesen't work that way? Ah, but your cell phone does work that way now. Got me there.
  4. I would much rather pay $400 bucks onetime for a GPSr than fork out $100+ a month just to get ripped off.
  5. It probably doesn't matter anyways, I'll bet Geocaching will be compleatly outlawed in the US. within 5~10 years anyway.
  6. If the software could be found, I wonder if a "regular" 76CS could be turned into the West Marine version.
  7. Back when I had an I-finder I bought whatever card was cheapest at wal-mart and I couldn't get it to work. I called lowrance and they confermed it wouldn't. I wish I could remember what brand it was so I could pass that along but I can't, sorry.
  8. I have never found a knife in a cache, but one time near a cache I found this strange looking sword stuck in a rock. I tried to pull it out but I couldn't budge it so I just left it there.
  9. Is there a reason gc.com uses degrees and minutes as opposed to the others. Is one better than the others.
  10. My dads got one, the only thing I know about it is that it takes forever to initialize.
  11. I think mine is still set at the defult.
  12. Shortly after I found Geocaching I found a YJTB. That same day I loged it on the cache page, but I wasn't shure how to log it on the travel bug page. The next day I got an E-mail from another local asking if I had taken it from the cache or not because I hadn't log it on the tb's page. He went on to say that he and his family would love to find one and made it sound as if his children really wanted to find there first tb. He wanted me to log it ASAP! I went and logged it immediately. After that I looked at his profile and saw that they had already found several of the YJTB and many other tbs.
  13. I may be way off here but: I think waas comes from some of the birds as apossed to other differentail methods. It seems that I read somewere that the sats could be moved around to give better coverage to different parts of the world as needed. So, mabye it has something to do with Iraq. Like I said I could be way off but this is wht I'm thinking.
  14. I use a fiberglass rake/shovel handle from lowes. I had to shorten it a little bit, but someone taller(I'm about 5'7") shouldn't have to. They also sell shorter ones that might woork for shorter people. I then put a rubber foot from a walker on the bottem and a pieace of heavy string for a hand strap. It is a bit heavy and looks funny but it works great. I have wedged it between rocks and logs and have literally hung my full weight from it many times to get up a really steep hill, and It also floats. Like I said it's a little heavy and it doesn't colapse but I don't have to worry about it ever breaking on me.
  15. For GMRS go to fcc.gov. and I think it's more like $80.
  16. I use orange flags and yellow caution tape to mark caches I've found to make it easier for others to find.
  17. If you use the GMRS freqs. you do need a licience. Look into a ham licience, it really is easy and you can do so much more than you can with FRS/GMRS.
  18. What I'm (and I suspect a lot of people are) waiting for is the ham radio version.
