  1. So post needs maintaince or needs archive logs on the cache page. a NM log will alert the cache owner, a NA log will alert the reviewers. Simple. It's not that simple. Cachers have posted maintenance notes but nothing has been done. The owners disappeared a long time ago. And the reviewer has retired. That is why I posted the forum query.
  2. Team Misguided retired as of mid-May 2011. Who are the other Washington State Reviewers? There are several caches in the Clark County area that need maintenance or archived.
  3. If you completed a Challenge Cache that extended over 400-1000 miles only to find that the cache for the Challenge was missing. It was not the case that you were unable to find it but it was missing. You would have to return over 450 miles again to sign the log sheet providing that the cache was really there and not missing again. What would you do as a cacher? What would you do as the owner of the missing cache?
  4. Is there a Highway 101 Challenge? If so how do I find out about it?
  5. I am going on 75 years old. My kids no longer live at home. The last moved out a couple years ago. They get upset when I go geocaching and benchmarking without them. So it is not taking Mother along but Mother taking them along.
  6. We use a metal detector to locate NGS benchmarks that are buried under dirt, etc. We used it once to located a "buried" geocache after an extended search.
  7. That's pretty bizzare behavior. It's rather unusual how someone can peruse all of your finds and hides, check out where you have been, what events you have been to, go through all of your forum posts, and travel bug movements, and look at all of the pictures posted in your gallery, but if you log the incorrect date on a find, a new forum thread opens where the entire caching community is asked how or why you did it, instead of a polite e-mail.. A polite e-mail would not bring it to the attention of the Geocaching community that there is a possible Armchair Geocacher. It is true that I have not encountered many in Geocaching but it happens every once in awhile in Waymarking.
  8. It was several finds in Mongolia and several finds in Portland, OR on the same day.
  9. I do not know how he/she did it but a new Geocacher logged several finds in both Mongolia and Portland, Oregon on the same day!! Time Zone change??
  10. I did several Geocoin Contests/Challenges last year: July 1-2, 2008 - 2008 Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory Geocaching Contest July 14, 2008 - The Canby (Oregon) Chamber of Commerce Geocoin Challenge August 21, 2008 - The Dalles-Dash Geocoin Contest August 26, 2008 - 2007 Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory Geocaching Challenge September 16-18, 2008 - Pendleton Oregon What a Kick! Geo Coin Hunt September 27-28, 2008 - Lincoln City Oregon Geo Coin Hunt This year Canby and Mollala in Oregon are promoting Geo Coin Hunts.
  11. Since Virtuals Caches are no longer allowed how about creating a Waymark: www.Waymarking.com?
  12. Or it could have been a honest mistake. I had a coin that was sitting on my desk that had never been released that got "discovered" at a woodstock avent. I just wrote them a note telling them that they had made a mistake and that they had 30 days to remove their logs or I would do it for them. When they were writing down the numbers of other trackables they must have wrote the wrong numbers. No harm no foul. Just let them know and take it from there. I doubt that it was an honest one time mistake. I looked at a couple other Travel Bugs that they logged only to find that the Travel Bugs were located in the United States. The logs were identical to the ones that I got.
  13. I got a couple strange logs for one of my Travel Bugs that is For Discovery Only. The Travel Bug has never left the state of Oregon and Washington. I looked at a couple other Travel Bugs that they discovered only to find that the Travel Bugs were located in the United States. The logs were identical to the ones that I got. 3/29/2009 BernhardGruber discovered it [visit log] Seen at the Geo-Cacher Stammtisch in Munich, Germany. 3/29/2009 Madam Mim discovered it [visit log] gesehen am Stammtisch...
  14. We use a metal detector to locate benchmarks. I have never used a metal detector to hunt for a geocache although I have threatened to do so. A small rake has been very useful in a couple instances in hunting for caches that are not buried according to the cache owners but I would differ with them.
  15. Let me know the next time that you plan to visit Portland, Oregon. Transportation is free from Lloyd Center throughout downtown area -- busses, streetcars, trolley, and MAX light rail. It makes it easy to search for geocaches, benchmarks and waymarks. For additional fare, you can visit Washington Park/Forest Park area.
  16. Several geocachers that did not know that a Geocache was archived posted logs anyway that day and for a couple days after hopeing to get credit. Do they count as "Finds?"
  17. I want to see at least a Nano Cache (A Blinkin's Small Geocache Container) Category added. There seems to be more and more placed nowadays. It is not always mentioned in the cache page that it is a Nano Cache. If you do not know that you are looking for a Nano it can be frustrating as it can be repainted and can blend easily into its surroundings.
  18. I have 17 historical geocaches in North Portland (Oregon) and Clark County (Washington). Only three geocaches have stages that are within walking distance. The remainding multi caches have stages that are several blocks apart or several miles apart. The longest is about 10 miles apart but then you have to drive several miles to begin the geocache. However there are other things to do and see besides the historical cache to make the trip worthwhile.
  19. Sorry, only a site-wide moderator can do that. If only one was reading this thread and could do something about it. Back to the topic. What are your ten favorite cache items? No one mentioned a small bottle of water?? Money??
  20. Thanks. What are your ten favorite cache items?
  21. You own 19 multi-caches but have no idea what signature items are? I can kind of understand your not knowing what pathtags are but really? http://www.geocaching.com/about/glossary.aspx http://www.geocaching.com/faq/ The caches for my 19 (now down to 17) historical geocaches are small with only room for a log. I recently replaced two of the caches with medium size caches. I have occasionally seen wooden nickels however I do not look that closely at the contents of caches that I have found. Mostly it is "toys" that children would not even want sometimes mixed with dirt, twigs, leaves, etc. I just sign the log, replace the lid and rehide the cache.
