  1. I was shocked when I recently heard the news.  I am deeply disappointed!  It is such a thrill to find a Benchmark that has been listed as Missing or Destroyed or has not been found in simply ages.  Benchmarking is a great addition to my travels.  I pay more attention to the countryside as well as state and government buildings, water tanks with names of towns and cities painted on the side, smokestacks near famous sites (i.e. where the ammunition train was destroyed in Atlanta during the War Between the States), churches and cathedrals, bridges (some quite famous), etc. when searching for Benchmarks.

  2. A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to state parks and recreation lands managed by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR). One pass can be transferred between two vehicles.

  3. Next spring I will be geocaching/visiting Savannah.  How do I get to Benaventure Cemetery on public transportation from my hotel - B Historic Spot.  Is public transportation near the cemetery safe?  If I choose to take a Bonaventure Cemetery Walking Tour that would provide transportation to and from my hotel which is the best Bonaventure Cemetery Walking Tour?  I love Virtuals and looking forward to finding them at the cemetery plus learning the history of Savannah.

  4. I was not the leader of this Category when I joined.  Crusso created the Category and was the leader.  I logged in one day to discover that I was the Leader!  As for "And why were all these waymarks approved (by you!) then? "Odyssey Posse" would have to have a 6 at the beginning, no?", I simply blew it.  Those Waymarks were approved by me in 2009.  I do not know why I didn't catch the mistakes.  Nor why any one else in the Group didn't catch  the mistakes.  These Waymarks would never be approved by me now.

  5. re: Where's In A Name? - A Waymarking.com Category

You have to use your ENTIRE geocaching name.  You cannot drop the first letter or start in the middle.  If you have a short name there are suggestions on the Waymark Instructions  as to what you can do.  If you have a really long name you stop when the coordinates are complete.  The rest of the letters in your Geocaching name are not needed.

The EXACT numbers from your entire geocaching name have to show on the GPS screen.  Close numbers won't do.

When I determined my coordinates I drew a line on a map which went from eastern Canada to Bermuda.  I contacted a few top Geocachers along that line in Virginia and Pennsylvania.  I was able to create three or four Waymarks with the help of a couple Geocachers.

  6. My daughter and I were hunting for the first stage of a multi in the Mt. Hood National Forest around noon on a weekend. We encountered a large smoldering mound covered in canvas strips. We did not find the clue so we walked back to the forest service road. We talked it over and decided that we should report the smoldering mound. I called in the coordinates to the US Forest Service. I had trouble finding someone who understood coordinates. There were numerous phone calls. We continued Geocaching in the area. A woman called about 4:00PM to say they finally located the smoldering mound. They discovered a device in the midst of the mound that would trigger a fire. She thanked us for reporting it.

  7. I found "Lists" after I posted the query. Formerly it was a drop tab. I went into my upcoming Event and saw that my two Bookmarks were listed so I knew the Bookmarks were still there - somewhere. I started exploring the web site. I never used my Profile before to find the Bookmarks. Seems like every day there are more changes to Groundpeak web site. I just have to figure out how things work - or don't work.

  8. Where have all my Bookmarks gone?? ; (

Mine are still under "Lists"...Did yours all disappear?

  9. ~ PLEASE . . . I would so like to attend this cache machine . . Trouble is I need someone to ride along with. Hoping someone even from this area even... Thank You in advance

I no longer need to have someone to ride along with (except for the company). I purchased a Garmin nuvi 2555 LMT w/free lifetime maps and traffic. It occasionally leads me astray but you just have to pay attention.
  10. Tsunami! at Florence, Oregon (GC1EGC8) was archived. But just north of there is "The Tsunami in Siletz Bay" (GC3E93M). It is definitely an Impact Feature not on Impact Feature list but should be. Maureen (Rose Red)
