  1. Are you sure about it being the ESC button. The standard windows method is the Ctrl. ESC generally clears anything sonw.
  2. Right, and my 2014 response noted that in the penultimate paragraph that begins with "NOTE." But not everyone is an advanced GSAK user, so I also gave the old fashioned manual method instructions. Both the manual and GSAK method instructions remain valid in 2016. You are right I didn't read your whole post, sorry for that. Since the topic was so old I got careless. Not reading through the responses on a small topic is one of my complaints about others and now I did it. Sorry.
  3. Actually there is a much simpler way. Get a new GS account. Get GSAK. Download the old My Finds PQ. Go to Geocaching.com Access at the top. Publish Logs. Fetch from Filter even though there is none. Change the found log template to something like "This is a log from a account split that I logged under another name" Then reapply templates and it will change them to what you put in. Then Publish and get a coffee. You could ask more over at the GSAK forums. They will probably recommend a macro or two that will help
  4. They lies to you. It is all about their refusal to update to a safe communicator
  5. I'm not aure that would so any good since the post above yours points out that the TB was removed prior to the archive event
  6. I use the Garmin POI loader on my eTrex 30. It gives me the whole cache page (except photos). I do limit the number of logs. Interesting, I have some limited experience with GSAK but I have it on my PC so maybe I'll play around with that. Do they function as geocaches within the GPS just as when you load .gpx files? Or do I need to pick them as waypoints to navigate to. I like the feature of the Unit showing me the next closest cache when I'm driving, hiking, walking, cycling. Also, maybe I can use some more filtering with GSAK to filter out some of the things I have no interest in They arent caches so they don't even appear in the cache list and dont act like one
  7. Rather than put a band-aid on the problem, more people should post a Needs Reviewer Attention[1] log and ask the reviewer to fix the coordinates for everyone. [1] Unfortunately the "Needs Reviewer Attention" log is currently called a "Needs Archived" log. But that's a whole 'nuther bug report. A reviewer once said that he/she wouldn't update coords without the CO's written permission. So even if the "CO just doesn't seem to care and does nothing" the reviewer will most likely not change the coords for the CO. That's just not true, reviewers change the coordinates for caches frequently. There's even a special log type just for that. That log type doesn't involve a reviewer. It moves the coords to the ones given by the CO and they must not be more thatn 528 feet.
  8. If you worry about every TB you run into that is not where it is supposed to be you won't have much of a regular life and certainly won't have time to cache.
  9. Airplane mode turns off the transmitters. GPS is not a radio but a receiver. You can hunt for caches in Airplane mode as long as you have downloaded the maps for the area you are in.
  10. Search the forums for Garmin Communicator for the many threads addressing this issue. The short answer you can't do it. Need to go to download gpx or use a third api application.
  11. While I haven't used it to add PTs to my ignore list I have used GSAK to add all caches by a particular owner to it.
  12. To quote a philosopher known throughout the Galaxy. The needs of the many not the few.
  13. Search the forums for Garmin Communicator for the hundreds of topics dealing with the issue. Basically Garmin refuses to update it to a safer language and browsers refuse to run it. There are ways around like save to gpx button then move it using explorer or move to PQs.
  14. My interpretation of that statement is you continually try to put out caches that don't meet guidelines. As you find more and more caches you will get a better understanding of what is allowed.
  15. There is only one resort and that is the laat one.
  16. It was never approved. Under caches hidden by you there is only one that was hidden long ago and is now archived. Go to that page and any pending caches will be listed for you to deal with.
  17. Much easier to use Google and a site name i.e. Sweet Roses site:geocaching.com will search that site for those words.
  18. You seem to be under the impression that everyone uses a phone to find and log a cache. I use a handheld and have to wait until I get home to log a FTF if I grab one. So just because the finder hasn't logged don't assume some nefarious intent. OOPS Look like I am a repeat
  19. Being a retired cop I understand that without enforcement rules address useless
  20. oh that is clever! thanks for the ideas! Not really. Such ALR's are easily picked up on the Review process. If it's added post Publication, 9 times out of 10, someone will complain to the Reviewer who will then be forced to Archive the Listing. Kind of kills the fun for everyone when that stuff happens. I agree it wouldn't get past the review but you over estimate how many people would report it. These caches were years old with lots of logs. Looked for another one in Yuma this fall that showed being close to the jail. After a fruitless search I read the description which told how to get to the final location. I NA'd it and followed it. Turned out it was on the Indian Land where caches are forbidden. An obvious placement to get around all the guidelines. This one also had many logs including a good deal that mentioned it was strange to have to go to a second location on a traditional. This one was placed for the Mega Event two years ago and had more logs than I could count that weekend. One of the biggest problems with this hobby is the lack of finders reporting to the reviewer violations.
  21. GS just gave another reason to use a handheld. The new app displays caches that are on my ignore list. The Classic app allowed me to hide those. So now I see all the caches I don't want to go to when I use it. Renders it useless. I also use a handheld because 95% of my caching is hiking or biking for long periods and the battery dies plus it is more rugged than my phone.
  22. It would be nice if you had written down the number on the decal. It is not beyond possibility that someone would submit a cache and then make up a decal with the cache number creating an unapproved mobile cache. Some CO's occasionally will bend the rules to fit their vision of the game. One example I found in Yuma years ago was a traditional but required a picture posted from a local webcam. I guess he couldn't get a webcam approved because of saturation. Another one in Kingman I couldn't find it so read the description which said to go a certain distance in a certain direction to a view point where the cache was. I did and that location was only 200 feet from another cache. I could go on for awhile.
