  1. Yes. So long as they are listed by the cache owner as being "Nano" and not as "Other" in the listing. I'm way behind - when did Nano become a size option?
  2. Loves it and the Cornish connection - I'll be buying a few, I too have a "Davy Lamp" as they're called in this neck of the woods..
  3. It's you pk???? You got the new reviewers job? Well done!
  4. Maybe it's just me - but - as a Geocacher I feel kind of honoured that when someone has paid out several Million $ to visit the International Space Station, he felt it was worth the effort to take a TB tag with him and set up a cache that whilst an average cacher was never going to be in a position to pop out and find it, they would at least be able to talk about it and have a laugh about organising a trip to find it. At an event I went to on Sunday, the ISS cache was a popular topic of fun conversation. I'm just hoping it won't be too long before there's a cache on the Moon, or Mars....
  5. I.m not sure why, but here's two of mine from recent caching trips. One is whilst doing the Animal Kingdom Series on Dartmoor, the other the beach at Crackington Haven in Cornwall whilst walking between two cache there.
  6. To be fair - I always look forward to the Ice Cream salesman in the car park near Coxs Tor.... Though I have some reservations about Willys Ice Cream...
  7. I'm terrible at finding the right words at times like this... I met Caesar once. in a gateway near Weston. So can I say "Sorry" and that photo of him in the snow, is just gorgeous..
  8. ohh another one... same event... Three of the Caching Corgis.. but don't be taken in, sweet, innocent, cute and fluffy they may look.... but I'd be sure they're eyeing up MrsB for dinner... and here's another one at a different event..
  9. Zeus aka Fluffy the Defective Detective.. is totally useless at sniffing out caches, but great as a fluffy dog! The photo is of a Picnic event on top of a Tor...
  10. I think if you read my original post in "the other thread", I did express both sides of the argument. I was asking for specific advice on what to do on that very very rare occasion when a dog isn't well behaved. We must meet hundreds (Thousands?) of dogs when out caching and this would of been the first one that's been worthy of comment. Anyway - please lets keep this thread to express the positive side of dog ownership.
  11. Gosh a White long legged pointy beak unspotted tree duck warbler if I'm not mistaken.... or an Egret I think... we have lots in the local river here, but I can never get close enough to get a good pic.
  12. Yes, I'd asked for some, I thought, sensible advice.. I too am a little disappointed with the way the thread turned out. Maybe a passing mod could close it - I think that would be for the best. As a final update though. a) I did report this incident to the local Police It appears I was "badmouthing" Dobermans, I saw a similar dog today whilst out walking and whilst chatting with it's owners, turns out it was a Rottweiler (who in my mind, I saw as being a lot smaller then they actually are) - but in my defence - they do appear to have very similar coats. Please accept my apologies dog owners, 99.99% of dogs I've met have given me no trouble whatsoever.
  13. Quoting myself "Geocachers are invariably not that skilled in the outdoors", does not mean I was commenting on all individuals, I was pointing out in general the Geocachers I have met (and that is many), most have limited outdoor knowledge, and usually inferior equipment. Just come along here Solstice with the Stones on Saturday morning and find a few that do . I'd love to, if it was a bit closer to Cornwall!
  14. Can I just say Mr moote, that i find... "Geocachers are invariably not that skilled in the outdoors, and it is people such as me who have many years of outdoor experiance who often come to the ill equipped aid." Offensive... who are you to judge my outdoor skills? You have no idea of my experience or qualifications to judge..
  15. Please - my original post wasn't an anti dog post at all, and whilst I've never owned a dog, I've "borrowed" ones from friends for years and if I lived somewhere suitable then I'd love my own dog. I'm one of the most disorganised people on the planet, so I'd never remember to make sure I had a Ultrasonic dog scarer/hiking pole/etc with me each time I went caching. I was just asking the best thing to do when unequipped, when you see a dog running at you - as obviously swearing loudly and waving your arms about isn't the correct thing.
  16. A few days back, I was bitten by a Doberman, whilst walking across a public park on my way between two caches. He ran up from behind, and by the time I noticed him he had my arm in his mouth...I screamed the most foul language at his owner, but that didn't help as he ran away and then came back to grab my arm again. As he came back for the third time I realised I had no idea what to do.. so just in case it should happen again I've done some research on the net to see how one should behave when being attacked by a dog. The most common advice seems to say - Stand still, don't look directly at the dog and don't stick your arms out to protect yourself (My mistake - that's just what I did). One slogan I've read on a few sites is "Stand still, like a tree" And this site seemed to have some sensible advice Wikihow Anyway, by way of Doggie Karma, at the next cache I did.. two Border Collies came hurtling at me from around a corner, and whilst I was thinking "Oh ****!, not again. why me!" they both stopped and sat down at my feet, looked up and waited for a pat - amazingly trained. To the point of the post, is there any one line advice on what to do when confronted by other unfriendly animals? Charged by a herd of cows? Cornered by a horse? Chased by a flock of Geese?
  17. There's a localish cacher who uses an interesting range of black nylon stockings as cache camouflage - they seem to stand up quite well to that use... though I always feel a trifle odd, when rolling them off the cache container...
  18. Well looks like DEFRAs sorted out the cows... Horses next? Cow Pats
  19. I don't log my own caches - except events I don't log caches that I've adopted out. (I've ignored them however) I don't log my sons caches if I was with him when they were placed. I happily dash to FTF my sons caches if I had nothing to do with their hiding. But those are my rules - nobody elses... do whatever you're happy with.
  20. I only collect caching related pins... of which I have 20 ish I think and all on my rather heavy jacket.
  21. Just to be annoying... I managed a complete set, then placed them all in a cache...
