It's a bit of both for me... and you do get "Precious" about your own caches, I have a series based around an old railway line that almost always has good logs - well part from one near a really boggy spot. I'm really chuffed about those. I have others that are far simpler, one under a huge historic railway bridge, joining Cornwall to England that many seem to enjoy finding - yet I always have an evil cackle when some from over the Tamar can't find it! Such simple pleasures....

When you're editing your message - click on the http:// button and it asks for two items of information. Firstly the http:// link you want the link to go to Secondly the name of that link that will be shown on the page America in Cornwall Although thats linked to it only displays - America in Cornwall

You should try it, it's supposed to be really good... I would but it's a bit of a drive to get a first to find... Though at one time I used to live between Newby Bridge and Windermere..

Maybe by asking for advice about one? Is XCPR1J graded correctly? What do you think of that last log? Or dropping in a cache name (XCQ1BX) when discussing a related (if only very slightly related!) topic. Obviously I've changed the real cache names in these examples. I tend to use Babelfish Though I find Dict.cc to be good as a online Dictionary The best tool of all though - is a real live German speaker, as often knowing which German word to search for is the real secret, often or occassionaly anyway, there maybe a German word with no direct English translation. If were not talking a needing Sub Aqua gear to find type cache. it strikes my mind and indeed I've though of just such a thing, is that actually hiding the cache could be a bit of a problem, it it was anchored to the bank then the rope would be visible. My tentative plan was to use a metal container with a waterproof plastic one inside and just throw this to the bottom of a pond. The actual coordinates of the cache would be for a secondary box with a magnet on a string/rope and any other equipment required. I was looking at a rather small "pond" so as not to give too much away - a different approach would be required in Derwent Water!

Hi Faxenmacher.. I found the colour of the bear riddle the easy bit - however workign out the coordinates of the North Pole really made me think about how the whole GPS system works. So I learnt a lot by doing your cache.

Well I for one would offer an extra clue. I usually have a photo or two tucked away for people who've looked once and not found it. I'd follow Simply Pauls advice and ask a previous finder for a clue. Good luck anyway - once you've found a few it gets easier Steve

Despite hunting more or less World wide - it appears it's mainly the Germans who go for these "ArmChair" caches in any number - with just an odd one in The Netherlands and other places. That said if anyone knows of any others elsewhere I'd love to hear about them. Steve
