  1. Right, wrong, cheating, playing fair? I cache because I enjoy it, I play, like everyone else plays, by my own rules and as long as we're happy with the way we play it, then what does it matter how anyone else plays the GAME? Thats my view anyway.... Steve
  2. Well - the last time I went.. I left home at 1.30 am... and got home at 4.30 am... and had to be at wotk at 7.30 am.... WHY? Do the words White Jeep ring any bells? I've been a few times before.. and had a couple of dodgy moments.. I cache alone... and in the midst of Bodmin Moor.. freezing cold.. I went well over my knees in a bog! But I got out (Phewww) found the cache and got the FTF... Later that same night I needed clean boxers when a Owl flew over my head, so close I could feel his wings beating... amazing.. But yep theres something about being out there.. knowing everyone else ( well most sane people) is fast asleep in bed.... A friend asked me if I felt like a naughty boy ? going caching at night..... Umm yep... being naughty and not getting caught, thats pretty much it.
  3. Humm I know... Good Luck.. Theres one heading to West Cornwall this week.. and one up near Newcastle
  4. Define a team. Does tagging along and signing a log make one a member of a team?
  5. Ok - now we've all got the WHite Jeep icon on our profiles... can anyone point me towards a Yellow Jeep anywhere... ?
  6. Ok Thats GSAK downloaded... Wow I like that.. thats just what I need.. Humm theres so many options though... GPX Sonar or GSAK HTML Export.... or both?
  7. Ok... I've set a Pocket Query to send me all the caches within 100 miles (Devon and Cornwall almost) I've downloaded and installed GPX Sonar - and I can access all the cache sheets. So I can open the same GPX file and send the waypoints to my Etrex - and have the corresponding info on my IPAQ? So that more or less does what I need... Whats the next move to make the best use of my technology? Its an IPAQ 3970 I have an Etrex... and the cable to link the two together. I had Tomtom running on it... but it seems a real kerfufffle!
  8. Ohhh too late... it's gone from there and is heading West...
  9. Hummm I've never phoned a friend - and yes I do have some At the end of the day we all play the game the way we want to play it. We set our own rules and play by them. I wouldn't claim I cache that I'd not retreived myself - but thats my rule, nobodies elses. I suffer from terrible vertigo and accept that I'll never be able to do some of the caches on the Cornish Coast, but dadgum it, I have fun doing the 99% of caches that I can do and accept that I'm lucky to be able to do those.
  10. Added to my contacts list.. Yeaaa haaa.... Just what I was looking for...
  11. I was wondering down from Dartmoor today.. along a track with trees on both sides... When a large black creature came crashing down through the trees and leapt onto the track about 10 yards in front of me.... Grizzly Bear! Was my instant thought..... No idea why I thought that.... It was after all a little Dartmoor Pony Phewwwwww I was releived!
  12. In typical Birdman style, I went caching today on Dartmoor. Having grabbed a pile of print outs from the table, without corresponding waypoints on my etrex. I'd pick a likely cache, walk to it, find it (or not, as the case maybe) then sit down and try to calculate the next nearest cache. YES I know I should be orgainised... YES I have IPAQs and Memory Map and all that stuff, but despite being a Virgo I never quite get around to it! It would be really really helpful.. if caches had a list of nearby caches in them.. just the nearest 3 or 4 and the nesecarry coordiantes. Just a thought. Ohhhh and the other thing... With more and more series of caches where you have to write down numbers to find the bonus cache.. it would be really useful if we could have a way of leaving notes on a Cache Log that only the cacher could see - if that makes any sense.
  13. Thanks - Well Devons not all bad - It has Dartmoor, though charging us a quid to get in is a bit off! Thanks for the congrats... It was fun Steve/Birdman
