what are you using to download into gps? I prefer GSAK

well I got it fixed. Seems all I had to do was exchange it for a Garmin. That Magellan works better as a paperweight on someone elses desk!!

Just buy a Garmin. OK December I picked up a Explorist 500 little bugs all through till a few weeks ago when it decided to not load waypoints anymore. So Magellan sends me a brand new Triton 400. Not even 24 hours later unit locks up and can't do anything with it. Useless!! So I traded it in on a brand new Garmin Venture HC and I love it already!!!! Thanks Garmin!!!!

I loaded up a bunch of geocaches yesterday. more than 200 and fired up the unit with no problems shut it off and restarted it later... no worries. Went to fire it up this A.M. and nothing. it goes to the opening Triton screen and then to a almost blank screen. Just the battery bar on the top left and signal on the right(that dosn't change indoors or out). I hooked up my vantage point and it dosn't read memory and version or anything on the My GPS page. Any help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I am actually very impressed. I called a week ago and said my Explorist 500 was having problems. I return home today to find a new Triton 400 sitting on my door step. I just barely sent back my other one. They said they would replace it but I didn't expect it to come so soon. (Hard to understand customer service there!!) Hmm if it works my faith in Magellan might be restored.

I just got to the point where I couldn't even load waypoints. I called and they will take back my 500 and send me withing about 2-3 weeks a new Triton 400. Might be worth a shot.

good riddence!!! I just called today to try to get my 500 fixed and they said nope!! but we will send you a new Triton 400. i'm like O.K. Was hoping they'd send me a new Garmin but.... One month without a GPS while I have to ship my old one and they ship the new one. That sucks! I hope the Tritons have gotten better.

I use one like Not The Momma just got. I picked it up at a thrift store for 2.50 I think. Works great fits all my little stuff ; pen,TB's,GPS,batteries,CHARGER!!,water.... It works really well to have something to hold it all and small enough that you barely notice. and it goes where I go. Probably half of my caches have been done while working, during lunch,on my way to work or on my way home. So the more easy and portable the better.

I had a buddy buy a nice Toshiba Quisimo off e-bay. He typed in a search and misspelled the word by a few letters and found one that the owner misspelled also. He got a $2000 computer for $1000. owner didn't put a reserve on it. In this case E-bay is for buying not selling!!

turn the usb cable attachement to the gps around. I fooled around with that for a few days before I figured it out. where you screw it into the GPSR turn it 180 and then it should work right. I don't know why Magellen dosn't do something about that stupid port!!!!!! All I can say is my next gps will be a Garmin. Tech on the Magellan sucks, glitches and stupid things like that!

I bought a explorist 500 about 2 months ago and my Driver cd didn't work. After 5 days of calling they finally said they would send me a cd when they get some more in. I still havn't received it. Luckily one of you fine Groundspeakers e-mailed me the file. Otherwise i'd still be hand entering my caches!! My next gps will be a Garmin. I called them with a problem I had with a 6 year old unit and got help like it was brand new! Thanks Garmin and Magellan you need to work on some things!!!

Congrats. I was having issues with mine as well now I have about 600 saved onto an SD card in 200 caches per file. For different areas I travel to.

I can't download my driver for my new explorist. i've tried putting in the cd and it wouldn't auto start. i tried to manually start autorun or wizzard and nothing. goes reallllyyy slow and dosn't work. I'm running XP. What to do what to do?

Woohoo!!

Do i need to get a cable that goes straight from the gps to usb? What hope is there for me?

I am having problems with my E-Trex trying to send to my gps. I have a used E-Trex with connector cable with serial connector and serial to usb adapter. I have downloaded the driver for the adapter. I have downloaded the Garmin communicator and go through the setup feature and it won't load the driver for it! What am I doing wrong? I know it is probably something really stupid. Thanks. Mike.
