  1. That is true, but you can alter/fine tune that before the final submission. The key to submission is to get everything right before submission, that way there is less likelihood of delays in publishing. Thanks. I used a dummy lat/long (just the degrees of my home coords) and got cache codes reserved so I'll be ready to place and publish. Now I just gotta find appropriate places.
  2. Not quite right. You can totally prepare your cache, uncheck this box [Yes, this listing is active...], which would provide you with the cache ID #. When you have crossed all the T's and dotted all the i's, triple-checked the coords , checked your spelling, added TB's if you want, then you can check that same box and submit it for review/publishing. Usually it is published within 3 days. When putting out a series of related caches, that way you can hold them all at bay, with (nearly) consecutive ID numbers. When all are ready to go, you check that box and submit them all at the same time (a note to the reviewer most always guarantees that they are published at the same time). Leaving that box unchecked, can allow you to do whatever you want in preparation before actual submittal. Until it is checked, it never enters the reviewing queue. One problem with this, I'm testing it, but even with that box unchecked it requires lat/long.
  3. You can create the cache page first, to get the waypoint ID, place the cache, then update the cache page with info and coordinates, then submit it for review. That's good to know. Though I probably won't be able to think of fitting names until I know where the caches will be placed. Although I do plan some sort of pun with the screw micro.
  4. I carry a reusable bag for geocaching, with ziploc bags containing trackables, trinkets, and tools like pens and a flashlight. In that bag I also have a recently-purchased official large cache container, with logbook, pencil, and a few starting items. And a few tiny magnetic containers. I've got all I need to start four caches, but I don't know where or how best to place. I know I'll have to place first and submit cache info on the site later, which makes it hard to have everything labeled. I won't know the cache number of my cache until after I get home from placing it. I'm getting placement ideas from other caches I find, and I think there are some unused areas around here where I could place a cache, but I'm not sure what all to have in it to start. It'll probably be best to have the large cache container filled and ready to place when I find a spot for it, but beyond a BookCrossing book and a geocoin I'm not sure what to put in it.
  5. I found out about Geocaching through BookCrossing.com, a website dedicated to releasing and tracking books. I've left a book or two in caches, though usually only the large ones have room. When I find a place to leave a large cache of my own, I'll release a book in it from time to time. Just wondering who else is combining the two.
  6. I ordered a bunch of geocoins from CoinsAndPins.com, but didn't get around to activating two of the My Traveling Two Cents coins. Now the CoinsAndPins site is down, and it directs me to CoinCodes.com, but they can't retreive the activation codes. Does anyone have any idea how I can get the activation codes for these coins? I've seen other examples on the site that have been activated, so I know it's possible.
  7. Oh that's very close! I'm in WR, just starting out. Four finds so far.
  8. The very first cache I found had a geocoin listed on the site, but it wasn't in the cache when I got there. I mentioned this fact when I logged my find. Haven't found any other caches since then, but I'll go looking more on the weekend during the day and hopefully have better luck. As soon as I manage to find a wild geocoin, I'll be snatching it, logging it, and finding another cache to hide it in. Hopefully won't be too long.
