  1. I left out another region that could be in the Big Horn Basin from Cody, Lovell, Worland, to Thermopolis.
  2. On a note of thanks and congratulations!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS to Chuckhole & Trailrunner's for their 50TH ANNIVERSARY!!! That is alot of married years together. THANKS to Wyohunter for his efforts getting a Wyoming Geocoin going. THANKS to Mr & Mrs. OldWyo for setting up the Green River Event we just had this month.
  3. I say JUST DO IT. Set up a web site soon and get us another forum other than this one for Wyoming cachers to communicate. I will contribute to the initial cost if not all of it if there are no others. Just make it the Wyoming home page and have 4 or so different groups or regions involved - (Gillette-Sheridan area) - (Casper-Douglas-Lusk) - (Laramie-Cheyenne) and then the I-80 corridor (Evanston-Lyman-Green River-Rock Springs- Rawlins.) Another area could be a Riverton-Lander-Jackson-Star Valley region. Call ourselves Wyoming Association of Geocachers (WAG) or name the site for Wyoming Cachers. This year just make the Rawlins 2nd Annual Brown Bag Event on the 2nd Saturday of June and call it the state event for this year.
  4. It is great to see some Wyoming cachers get a little interested in organizing. I have been caching across the state for 5 years now and have picked up a cache in every county by now including 725 total from the state of Wyoming itself. My caching time and time overall is limited to the previous years as we have a little baby now who almost 1 year old. We still do travel at times across the state mainly going to the Grandparents now in Sheridan or in the Black Hills of South Dakota. So can will be part of anything that is organized, I just will not be able to lead or run anything. In general most states have their own group. We are one of the bigger states of course that is really set apart by our multi-county regions. Having state group mainly needs someone who is web site savvy to set information about various meetings across the state and to have some type of forum for everyone. Really having one so called state meeting a year is probably all that is needed as there are getting to be various little events that are starting to pop up across the state. Honestly there are not too many "active" cachers in the state to start with. It the years I have been around there have been 2 events in Green River, 1 in Rawins, and 1 in Casper that I attended. Other scheduled have been in Gillette, Laramie, and Big Horn I think. Having the so called state event could rotate around the annual events at Rawlins and Casper with maybe adding Douglas in the mix now that it is more active than ever before. The biggest quantity of caches in the state though is in Sweetwater County and they have the most active and number of cachers. We are in the southwest corner of the state though, but would have one of the bigger attendances probably. In general to fund a group other than membership fees is to have an auction at the state event from donated goods. The UTAG group in Utah is big with 300+ members. They have a couple of auctions a year to fund a few of their events to provide the bulk of drinks and main food while they still have people bring side dished and desserts. Overall it may be tough. Just by having this discussion in the forums is a start. There are more and more Wyoming cachers every year and that means more interest in anything organized. Good Luck TH&G
  5. 2094 bugs-jeeps-coins to 2212 Caches for 94.7 % There are others that have ratios over 100% collecting the bugs more than the caches as : MaxB on the River Feathers Wagonwheel NBJPoppa Team Min Dawg To name a few.
  6. Someone made a comment about logging multiple times for a cache, so I took a look back at our caches. Yes I found some multiple logs. 2 - Plain mistakes that should have been a note as I went for a travel bug. 3 - These are moving caches - everytime I found it again it was in another place. 2- These caches are not moving caches, but were moved to another location. For both of these I was going for the travel bug without the GPS because I had already been there, but did not find the cache. When I looked at the coordinates again with the GPS on, I saw that they had been moved and I had missed the explanation in the computer on the cache page. One took me another 1/2 mile to go get. Another was on the other side of a creek that we had to go back to cross over without getting wet. 2- I purposely logged again because the owners of the cache do it all the time and it irked me. So I played by their rules and logged as a find again. So for 4 caches I will relog them as a note. Two were unintentional mistakes the other two not, but I will be the big person and drop them. All 4 were going back for the travel bug. One took us on a 6 mile 900 vertical foot gain to go get round trip. Another on a 3 mile trek up and back with about a 500 feet gain, and one about a half mile round trip. So this will drop us from 1006 caches to 1002 for now.
  7. If you want to count all of our logs we have 1278 in the system mostly to go get the travel bugs at caches we have already been too.
  8. We picked up our milestone 1000th cache today on a day that is also our 10th wedding anniversary. We did a little 300 foot vertical climb up some rock formations overlooking the I-80, the Green River, and the city of Green River, WY. It was cold in the 20's with the wind chill taking it down to the single digits. For our 1000 caches we have journeyed to 10 different states when we get away from work. Wyoming does not have many caches (310), so we head out on many road trips. Our first cache was in Nov 2001, but we did not get the 2nd one until April 2002 when we finally got a GPS device. So our 1000+ caches have come in 20 months of actiuve caching. Our total caches in our top three states are: Utah - 453 Wyoming - 242 South Dakota - 111 (This state has only 235 caches) Our caches by year: 2001 - 1 2002 - 391 2003 - 614 (1006 total now) Our caching miles by vehicle over the last 20 months in which we got at least one cache one that trip: Motorcycle - 30,000 Car - 20.000 SUV - 15.000 We have picked up 655 travel bugs along the way also now.
  9. We just crossed the 500 travel bug mark this past weekend Oct 11 03. I know we are not the 1st (Centris) nor the 2nd (Feathers), but I do believe we are the 3rd to pass this mark. We live in Wyoming and try to get out as much as we can on the road on our motorcycle or in the car out of state. There are less than 300 caches in our state. We also crossed the 900 cache mark this weekend also.

  12. We just passed the 500 travel bug mark October 11th 2003. I know we are not the 1st (Centris) nor the 2nd (Feathers), but I do believe we are the 3rd to join the 500 club. It is not all that easy to collect alot of travel bugs in Wyoming, but we get out on the motorcycle or in the car to collect these bugs on our many journeys. We passed the 900 cache mark also on this day.
  13. We just picked up a few travel bugs this weekend to join the 500 travel bug club. We are not the 1st(Centris) nor the 2nd (Feathers), but I believe we are the 3rd cachers to join this club Oct 11 2003. We live in big Wyoming, but do get around on our motorcycle and car collecting TB's was we go. Our state has less than 300 caches in it.

  15. We are proud to be from the great state of Wyoming caching in and out of our state. We have been to 3x as many caches that are in our state as we are at the 700 cache total. We have also found 224 travel bugs. We live in the highest concentration of caches in the state in Sweetwater County, but our city of Rock Springs is under 20,000 and not on the state search tab. We do occasionally look at the forums.
  16. Sorry for the mistakes on the previous post that I did not check before posting. Anyway if the travel bug owner did not put in a release date for the travel bug properly when they set up the travel bug page for each bug, the bug shows up on the personal cache page list, but not in the profile total.
  17. This happened to us a couple of times when we found a newer tavel bug by a new cacher would did not properly fill in the release date information for their travel bug. On each travel bug page their is a release date near the top. If it was never released correctly, it does not show up in the profile
  18. GeoTokens are simple trading items with the cachers unique logo, milestone caches, and other information on them. Spidertracks from Vernal, Ut makes up a batch for us as we need them ever since we crossed the 200 cache barrier. He numbers them for us and we leave them as a marker or trade item to place in a traditonal cache. Our next number to place is #365 for our 365th cache. If it is a virtual or locationaless cache, I keep them them and give them out to other new potential cachers as a way for the to get out information about the sport of geocaching. At this time they can not be tracked like a travel bug or a nut, but it is nice to know by E-mail where they may travel. If it is kept and collected for one own use, that is fine.
  19. Spidertracks is a geocacher from Vernal, UT. He designs and prints out these Geotoken for anyone who wants one made up with the a unique logo for the user. Search for his name: spidertracks and you will eventually get his profile to E-mail him.
  20. The Hunter TB is in our cache in Rock Springs. We will move it out of state on our next trip if it has not been picked in a week.
  21. We just picked up the 58th TB this weekend out of our 354 caches. We only had 9 as of July. That is when we started to look out more for the travel bugs on our journeys out of town and of state first before looking at cache pick up potential. We travel around alot in the west and like to help the bugs keep moving on their journeys.
  22. The Hunter TB is in one of our caches. If it is not picked up in one week, we will pick it up and move it out of state on our next trip. No problem.
  23. We do it all the time when on rides and the weather is nice enough. We put on 15500 miles on our Goldwing this year and collected 250 of our 354 caches while riding. We are from Wyoming with a riding season of maybe May to September. The rest came from off road vehicles or the occasional road trip in the car or SUV. Our Garmin GPS III velcros and mounts right above our diplay (1800 Goldwing) and guides us on our way. Then we stop and hike over if it is not driveable or on a dirt or gravel road.
  24. No, Geocaching is new to us in the last three months, but I have been on a motorcycle for 21 years since I was 14. We just bought a new 1800 Goldwing right when we started caching. The GPS sits right on the display on velcro. I have put more miles on my new wing in the three months than any other year total in the past. Every trip on the 1800 has picked up a cache for us. We look for anything within a mile of pavement on the road. For most of my local caches we need to go off- road to get to and that is OK. I have put on 6500 miles in three months and we have picked up at least 50 caches on the motocycle trips
