  1. Another victim of the problem. Windows 10, Firefox browser. Clicking on a pocket query to get the map displays a map centered on my home location.
  2. I understand the cost issue. But new maps are NOT working well. Setup is not as intuitive as it could be. It took me a couple of days to figure out how to do the filtering. Maps don't load all that fast. Mapquest Aerial usually neglects to load portions of the map.... The Sailor is not very pleased.
  3. Garmin sure does NOT consider customer support at reasonable prices to be in their best interest - only selling new stuff. I had a problem with a Dakota 20 - the rubber flap that covers the USB port cracked and was tearing off. Garmin would not send me the part and wanted >$100 for a refurbished unit. I had bought the unit at REI and was able to take it back to them and upgraded to an Oregon model and got my original purchase price as credit to the new model. Additionally I have a Nuvi 1450 with the traffic receiver/power cord. The connection from the power cord to the Nuvi was breaking off. I stupidly went for a refurbished model ($75 including shipping and insurance, I could have bought a brand new one for $90). I've had that for a month and there is something wrong with it. The GPS keeps powering on and off. If I use the power cord from another unit everything works fine. I just tried calling Garmin - they are already closed for the holidays!!! I wonder if they will be closed on Monday. We'll see how much they want to charge me to replace the defective power cord that the sent me a month ago...
  4. I have a NUVI 1450LMT. My gripe is that for caches behind say a store, it wants to go into the neighborhood behind the store and then "go off road". With that said, I've learned to look at where it is sending me and check the main road to see if it is a retail location. If I set the unit to off-road navigation, it generally gets me to within 30 feet of GZ. Another dislike on this unit is it's propensity to freeze up. I use GSAK and the GPX-By-Cache-Type macro to load custom POI's to the unit. If there are too many caches in the "sensitivity notification distance" the unit freezes up. Third beef on POI's - why does it have to ask me EVERY TIME I TURN IT ON if I want to save the POI's on external media to the internal.... However, a new complaint. The lifetime traffic is apparently tied to the power cable on LMT units. In my case, the USB connector is breaking and keeps loosing power connection and I think it will be compeletely worthless in another week or two. I can't believe Garmin is charging $70 (US) for a replacement!!! And in my mind this problem is caused by poor engineering on their part. I've submitted a support request to Garmin and am waiting for a reply... I've been using Garmins since the GPS 3 days, this may be enough to get me to change vendors on my next unit. SailorSam20500
  5. Ditto on the comments - I'm hoping the bug gets eradicated soon. I miss seeing the updates...
  6. Did you get any answers on this? I have 1 placed month left to fill and Power Island would do the job. I'm going to make getting there a priority this summer... SailorSam20500
  7. Using IE 7.0.7530 on Windows XP. I am trying to search for existing routes. I run a query and get a list of routes that spans multiple pages. I am unable to retrieve more than the first page. Anything I do to get another page of results - click 2 or 3 or 4.... or next or the >> I get a reply with a random set of routes that have nothing to do with the search I made. Any thoughts? Additional info: Select -> Search by Key Word. Enter -> Ohio, I-80 Click -> Find Routes I get similar results using IE 8.0.6001 on a Vista system I get 118 records returned, however no method will get me past the first page of results. For example, clicking NEXT clears the results, gives me a random route of the moment and instructions on "How User Routes Work"...
