Since signature items are becoming trendy collectable items, I'm wondering if any used as travel bugs would be likely to have a higher than normal MIA rate. It would be interesting to me to see how many would actually make it to their destination. ------- Join us at our first "geo-gathering" on 4/27/02!

How Did You Get Started Geocaching?
Zuckerruebensirup replied to Texas-Jacksons's topic in General geocaching topics
An internet friend of mine ran across it while surfing the net, and told me aboout the site. Since she's never actually tried it herself, I wasn't sure if I should count that as "word of mouth" or "surfing the net", so I voted "other." ------- Join us at our first "geo-gathering" on 4/27/02! -
Grrr...no matter what I try, I can't seem to get that extra underline out of my signature line between the links to the MIGO page and the cache event link. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I checked and double checked...and there's no extra space inside the link brackets. Here's what I currently have (with brackets in place of parentheses, of course): Join us at our first (URL=http://groups.yahoo.com/group/migo/)(IMG)http://img.Groundspeak.com/cache/log/196939_600.gif(/IMG)(/URL) "(url=http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=19355)geo-gathering(/url)" on 4/27/02! ------- Join us at our first "geo-gathering" on 4/27/02!

I thought maybe it didn't like the 'gif' format, so I updated it to 'jpg', and got the same error. As soon as I would take out the img tags and change back to a simple word, the update would process with no errors. I wonder what I was doing wrong. ------- Join us at our first Michigan Geocachers Organization (MIGO) gathering on 4/27/02!

Per our recent discussions on the MIGO site, I've added a signature line in order to help advertise our group, and the upcoming geo-gathering. ------- Join us at our first Michigan Geocachers Organization (MIGO) gathering on 4/27/02!

LoCache came through with the file. I posted a copy of it on the MIGO board. (For some reason postings don't seem to be making to the message list. After doing a couple trial attempts with no success...Yahoo will probably eventually catch up, and post several all at once. My apologizies for the extra messages if that happens.) - Zuck

Amazing race partner needed, anyone game??

I'm betting they just want to laugh at you if you fall flat on your face or do something equally embarrassing in front of the whole world...and with television cameras to record it for playing over and over to taunt you with for years to come. -

What I've heard is that you should gently remove ticks with tweezers, taking care not to squish them (and cause them to inject their poison) or to break the head off in your skin. Once it's removed from your skin, you should squish it with the tweezers (or pliers, etc.), and then drown it in rubbing alcohol to make sure it's dead.

And then if we start getting participation and ideas of things to do, we can decide from there whether or not to expand to something more official. Our gathering has been posted as an event cache. I hope everyone who doesn't already have plans for the morning will find a way to work it into your schedule. Thanks to Rusty for spearheading this, and getting the ball rolling. I hope this will be the first of many get-togethers.
