  1. I've seen a couple of threads discussing this. Try here, here, or here. Personally, I think the clue should make it fairly obvious, but at the same time, be somewhat fun or creative (but not frustratingly confusing). I've also thought it would be cool if there were two levels of hints: "Hint" (for those who just want a nudge) and "I give up!" (for those who are tired of looking, and just want to log the find and be done with it). The 'Hints' I've encountered that really tick me off are ones that say, "Bring a frisbee, there's a disc golf course here." or tell you where to park or something. I've even seen ones that give a website address...as if we all have a wireless internet connection with us in the woods. (Do people not understand that the intent of these is not to look at them until you're at ground zero, and are truly stumped?) Argh! On a lesser level, unnecessarily LONG clues are another pet peeve of mine. ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!" [This message was edited by Zuckerruebensirup on May 06, 2002 at 08:53 AM.]

  8. I'd still like to see a rating system on caches. Maybe if people get some statistical feeback on how great or how lame their caches are (whether physical, virtual, or locationless), they'll start putting in more effort into make them interesting. Personally, I've seen some fun and/or creative locationless caches, and even have a couple of my watch list. (For example, the Hometown one...I enjoy putting faces to names, and seeing where people are from. No, you don't need a GPSr to find your hometown...but as a community, it's nice to see who else is out there.) I've also seen many that are just plain boring. (But the same is true for virtual and traditional caches, too.) However, what's boring to me may be fun for others. Who am I to judge? Voting on the other hand, might be constructive. It gives people a sense of what the rest of the group enjoys or doesn't.) ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!"
  9. The Buxley's stats are for the average across an entire state. I'll bet there are higher concentrations if you narrow it just to a 10 square mile area. ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!"

  16. I'm sure glad it wasn't just me totally missing something obvious. (Not like it wouldn't be the first time, of course.)
  17. quote:Originally posted by Markwell: Some caches like The Hall of Justice are theme content caches. In this instance I could see listing the original contents. Of the six caches I've placed, the only one I listed (a sampling of) the original contents of was my Marshall Arts & Cache. And it was just as Markwell said...to help demonstrate the theme and to give people an idea of what kinds of trade items to bring. ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!"
  18. I seem to be having trouble with using my windshield mount in combination with the GPSr wrist strap. If I attach the wrist strap, the GPSr apparently won't fit into the mount. If I remove it, the unit snaps right in. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. But it seems crazy that they would sell a "package deal" that you can't even use together. I don't want to have to remove and reattach the wrist strap every time I take my GPSr in my vehicle.

  24. With a little work and patience, the above-mentioned logging problems were corrected, and EWS has been travelling smoothly ever since. He's since met his first goal, and has had several pictures posted of his adventures. Each leg of his travels has been at least 200 miles, and he's averaging only a week or so at each transition. Thanks to a chain of thoughtful and helpful people, I've been having tons of fun watching the Eensy Weensy Spider, as he travels about on his quest to climb 'water spouts'. (I especially cracked up at the log that mentions, "as soon as we closed up the cache, down came the rain and washed us and the spider out." ) ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!"
