  1. Here it is. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...mp;hl=BlackStar
  2. Yes. I use BlackStar. It is a free app to download from the BlackBerry store. There is a step by step guide to using it in the techie forum. I will look for you a link if you need it.
  3. A Geocaching experience. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/outdoors/...geocaching.html
  4. I have looked at buying a Garmin but the cost is, at the moment, prohibitive. BlackStar can do the job a while longer for me.
  5. In the tech forum is a step by step guide. It works too. I have used it. You might have to rummage around a bit for it as I don't think it was pinned.
  6. I found my 10th cache today. it was my first using BlackStar. Thanks daveindeal.
  7. I have got BlackStar but I am struggling with it. I just don't know how to use it.
  8. I wish I had been a geocacher back in August when I holidayed in Prague. I can't believe I passed lots of caches and never knew it.
  9. Yes I do mean a seeker. I messed that up good style. Thanks for pointing it out.
  10. GPX is an extended GPS exchange format that can be read by both EasyGPS and ExpertGPS, as well as various other software applications. The latest version of EasyGPS can be downloaded in the Resource section of Geocaching.com under Geocaching Software. You will need the latest version to read this format. That was on an email. I can't find the Resource Section. Help please.
  11. I have only been a member since 31 Oct and I do that already.
  12. Don't know of any caches as I was not a geocacher when I was on holiday in Prague in August. Gorgeous city though. I would go back there like a shot.
  13. Haha. Glad I found this thread. I was out geocaching yesterday and I found a golf ball. I put it in my stash-of-stuff-to-swap-in-caches.
  14. I was attracted to Geocaching because I have always loved the idea of treasure hunting; and I love secrets. I realise that without hiders there can't be seekers BUT, as yet, I have no desire to be a seeker. I love the hunt too much and I am totally grateful to the hiders. Even if you do both, which do you secretly prefer? Would you define yourself at heart as a hider or a seeker and why?
  15. Thanks. I do get it is not about the numbers totally. I went after a cache I couldn't find today. It had been archived and I didn't realise. I had such a good time though. it took me to one of my old childhood haunts. It was muddy, wet and beautiful. I paddled and splodged through water and mud and passed all the ponds I used to play in and around as a child. I must admit I was slightly horrified by some of the risks I took playing there, when I look back. especially as a none swimmer.
  16. Thank you for your replies. I am learning so much about GC. That grid looks interesting. I am still not sure I get it though. where would I find a grid like that so i could click into the cells and see what happens?
  17. I keep seeing references to these on logs of finds. What are they? What is their purpose?
  18. And what would be the cost? Up to now I am doing OK. I got another two finds today, taking my total to 7 and my average to one find approximately every two day. I can see that I am getting further and further sucked in and that I will be wanting a shiny new GPS for Christmas and that I may want more from my membership in the not too distant future.
  19. Wow. Thanks for the help. Dowloaded Blackstar and will have a play with. Thank you so much. I had looked at BlackBerry apps but did not really know what to search for. This looks good.
  20. I have toyed with the idea of geocaching for years and have finally taken the plunge. I found my first cache last week and my second today. I have truly caught the bug now. However, I had to use the clues to hunt as I do not have a handheld gps. That is where the advice is needed. A couple of questions: 1) Would my TomTom cat satnav do the job? 2) Where could I buy a really cheap but effective and simple to use handheld GPS? 3) Is there a free, easy to use app I could download for the BlackBerry Curve? Thank you in anticipation of your answers.
