I also noted the drop in reception when the batteries get past 1/4 empty... (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  3. Well done both of you. I have often looked at that last cache of yours but it seems just to hard for me!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  4. Many congrats. on the double ton GAZ... That last locationless one you did was a real toughy . See who can get to 300 first (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  5. Look I'm a postman not a computer buff! Frontpage express came with the computer so i'ts all I have!! Sorry! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  6. Arrrggg! If I had any hair I would pull it out I have changed all the file extentions ( I thought you only got nail or hair extentions ) and think it might be OK now. If this doesn't work I give up. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  7. quote:Originally posted by The Good Shepherds:Postie - this web page is pointing to jpg files on YOUR c: drive. Since you're permanently connected to your c: drive, you'll see the page fine. The problem is, the rest of us just see a big blank page with all the photos missing(!) You'll need to change the page as per simonG's suggestion (and also need to make sure that all the jpgs have been uploaded to your web server!) As the Good Shepherds point out the old page lets me see the pics fine, so I won't know when the fresh link is working. Some one will have to let me know!! Ta ( I think I will go and have a lie down now!! ) (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  8. OK I think I know what happened! I have re-loaded the page to my web site but it may take a while to refresh. If this doesn't work Ill post the pics to any ony who wants them!! ( just joking!!) (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  9. Ok how about, use the original link, and go down the page to the geocache link, then the link to the photos is at the top of that page!! Brill SimonG seems to have fixed it!!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  10. No, No, No, No, stupid computers!!!! that wasn't right either Try thisHere (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  11. Sorry to keep you in suspence Alex, this web pages gets beyond me some times!! Try this link Photos (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  12. Many congrats Travers on your ton. Keep putting those caches up north for me to find!! And no I didn't get an e-mail from Chris Jackson!!! Perhaps County Durham is to far south! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  13. I have retrived the camera from my cache above, and the pictures can be found on my Geocache page at my web page There is an e-mail link to let me know who is who! I have filled in one or two names, hope I have got them right. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  14. Pid was right! I have to own up to being the one with the Royal Mail hat, What else can I wear!! The other guy is my brother-in-law, Andy, from Salisbury. He is a postie as well!! That was part of my 3 day cache hunt when I bagged 32 caches and had a fantastic time. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  15. If you trust them, the auction sites can be a bargin. There is a visor delux going for £30 on one site at the moment! I paid £120 for mine two years ago and they have stoped making them now, but mine works very well with Geocaching. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  16. I found a grenade in the New Forest whilst looking for ' Down to the wood' but it turned out to be a practice one, (the real thing without the explosives!!) (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  17. I enjoy the planning bit almost as much as the finding! I can be found planning weeks in advance of a cache trip,( I'm working on caches for our Scotland holl in May now!) I like to do as many caches as possible when I'm out! I mark the caches on an old road map to get me somewhere near. I download all the cache pages plus logs into my PDA. I use the excellent 'Waypoint workbench' to find and print a 'streetmap' o.s. map of the area so I know where all the public rights of way are. Download all the co-ords into my GPS. I use a 'bum bag' to carry all my gear and swaps when I go to the cache site If I don't find the cache I use a prog. on my PDA to decode the cheat and look again!! My Idea for my retirement is to buy a lap top, a camper van, and go round the country caching!!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  18. Well done Peter on your 300!! Thats quite a rate of caching!! But then you are retired Or would you describe yourself as full time geocacher!! I shall have to pay a visit down your way and get some of your 30 or so caches, all in ammo boxes are they?? (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  19. Well done you guys... 500 by the new year by any chance??? You certainly blitz Florida recently!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  20. quote:Originally posted by Bill D:Two posters have mentioned http://www.insidecorner.com. The stats there don't seem to be very accurate, even though they're supposedly updated every day. They say I've found four caches, the last being 6th October, and haven't hidden any - in fact I've found 14, the last being 16th November, and I've hidden one. I have just been to there site and they have my caches up to date (which geocacheuk never did!) (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  21. Wishing every one of my fellow geocachers out there a very, very happy Christmas. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  22. Hi all thanks for the congrats, sorry I have taken so long to reply, 30 hours overtime a week leaves me a bit tired in my old age, can't understand where all the extra letters have come from!!! I have really enjoyed this 'sport' since Jan 5th my first cache. Highs and lows!!?? I think lows are defiantly the no finds… nothing more annoying than searching for something for ages just to see the next log say how easy it was to find… See my log on this one! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=3355 The highs have been meeting all the new friends from geocaching and even the ones I only 'meet' via e-mail.( I have e-mailed and spoken on the phone to Gaz many times, but never met him ,yet!) If anyone has been looking at the caches I do you will have noticed that I tend to go for a few in a day and I love planning my cache trips. I spent hours planning the trip down south round the Winchester area and had a great time down there with my brother-in-law tagging along (may have a new convert there!!) I think the main thing I like about Geocaching is being able to utilize someone else's local knowledge to get to their beauty spots or places of interest. I would never have visited Steall Falls http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=27636 Or Humphrey Head http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=21817 Walker Dan's are always a challenge ! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=13750 And just taking time to stop at a place I have driven past hundreds of times but never visited , http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=23172 So, I think the congratulations should be to all the cachers out there who have supplied me and my family with hours of pleasure (or frustration!) Thanks every one. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  23. quote:Originally posted by TheCat:On another matter we are now in dialog with GC.com trying to sort things out so we can restart the stats system. Mark (TheCat) http://www.geocacheuk.com YIPPEE!! I have realy missed the stats page over the last few weeks!! Keep up the good work guys. (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  24. I use a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I have tried the pocket queries but find using Mobipocket a pain as it doesn't show up very well in the screen. The best prog I have found for cache pages is Geoclipping. I only load the pages I want, and can fill the logs as I do the caches ( I have a tendency to forget what I swap etc. ) Then download when I get back home and use cut and paste for the cache logs. I also have a decoder prog to give me some hints when I get stuck! I wouldn't fancy taking anything more expensive Geocaching in case it was dropped or knocked in the process of finding the cache!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
  25. I have just been in-touch with the local bomb squad who told me that it had been an empty practice grenade!! So dont worry about running about in the undergrowth. The police man in attendance said that when German bombers had been over Southampton, if they were unable to get to the target they would often drob their load on the New Forest area.Any unexploded shells get washed to the surface after heavey rain!!! (Every one needs a bigger letterbox!)
