  1. unless it is logged into a cache and is clearly missing. Unfortunately, lots of people are slow to move TB's. Send the person a polite e-mail asking that they get the bug moving. I give people about a month before 'bugging' them. The first person said 'Oh my gosh, I forgot I had it. Sorry' and placed it in a cache within a couple days. The others said they were leaving on a cross-country trip and were taking the bug with them, and I think that ones going on 6 weeks now. Since then, I added a comment to all my TB's to please place them into a cache within 2 weeks. We'll see if that does any good.

  4. It can't go everywhere, but just like the Justy guy said, I've had it places that made people shake their heads. The driver makes a big difference and that front wheel drive can pull you through a lot of places that a rear-wheel drive can't. When I was building my house, I called it my pickup-car. The guys at the lumber yard were amazed at what would fit into/on it. I've taken four people with full backpacks in it. I've also driven 650 miles to the Bowron Lakes in British Columbia with two 16' canoes on top. They hold up real well too. My 1986 pickup/car survived 40k miles from a 16-year-old son and was still going strong at 208k miles when I replaced it with a new 1995.
  5. It sounds like a very worthy cause, but it's still a request for money from a business.
  6. Some say it isn't, but I agree with the ones who say it is. A travel bugs goal is to travel and if you can help, go for it. Some people also say that you have to trade for a TB. I agree with the ones that say no, again, because it's goal is to travel, not be kept. Just don't be a TB hog, which you won't be if you only take one.

  8. Since the 2nd stage was clearly listed as having lots of broken glass, I think these would be better questions to ask. 1. Why did you go into the area without proper foot protection and a walking stick for yourself? 2. Why would you knowingly take your dog into an area that had lots of broken glass?
  9. Until there's a way to inactivate bugs, I think you should go ahead and create the graveyard cache. How about locating it at the North Pole?
  10. Hubby-thinks I'm too obsessed, occassionally goes on easy ones, better to leave him home. Dad-thinks I'm too obsessed, has gone on a couple easy locals, he did enjoy Extremophile and would go on others that involve a good hike. Mom-has enjoyed a few easy locals. Brother-enjoyed Extremophile and would go on others that involve a good hike. Son-age 25-has gone on a few-would be a great caching partner if he didn't live 2 hrs. away to the NE and work on weekends when I'm off. Daughter-age 23-went snow-shoe-caching with me this winter. Would do a lot more but she's 1-1/2 hrs. away to the S, working and going to college. If this had existed 10 years ago, when it was just me and my two teen-agers, I'd be pushing 1000 for a find count. They would have been great caching partners!

  12. Up to a couple weeks ago, I hadn't gone more than 20 miles for a single cache. Multi-cache crazy-days have taken 200-300 miles, but that's for up to 15 caches in one day. Extremophile caught my interest though, big-time, and I drove a 410 mile RT just for that one. (I did manage to fit in a few more on the same day, but would never have done them singly.) Distance-as-the-crow-flies is very deceiving. I can look in a 15 mile radius and get several caches that are well over an hour from my home.
  13. We did some nice motorcycle caching last weekend when we went to Portland to see Cirque du Soleil. I sit on the back seat of our GL1500 GoldWing, holding the GPS and telling DBF where to go. Ish-n-Isha, I totally understand your frustration at being .2 miles from a cache, I was less than 500 feet from Indian John, but the motorcycle group wanted to go NOW. Arrrggghhh!!!! We don’t leave the bike alone in any remote areas, the risk of vandalism is just too high. Sbukosky, we’d love to come to your ice cream virtual. Did I mention that we stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home from Portland?
  14. It's interesting that you say the person going downhill has the right-of-way where you are. I've been hiking 40+ years, mostly in Washington state, and was taught that the person hiking uphill has the right-of-way, also, a person with an overnight backpack has the right-of-way over a day hiker.

  16. What's the problem with this bug being where it is? The current holders have only had it for two days and it only sat in the cache for 4. It made reasonable progress before that, with only one long period of inactivity. Sounds to me like it should spend some time in Hawaii.

  18. I voted for not needing the duplicates, but I also think there's not really any reason to change. I don't think having singles would do anything significant to the price and it's a good, tangible record of what your TB number is. I also like the design just the way it is.
  19. Check out this new TB. It'll be going into its first cache tomorrow. http://www.geocaching.com/track/track_detail.asp?id=9471

  21. Please just let this thread die. Happy caching.
  22. I appreciate the time and work you put into the geocache site.
  23. Thanks for trying to help TH. Maybe if they were all submitted by different people, they'd get approved and then I could adopt them.
  24. It's no coincidence. Here is the new cache listed today. Yellowstone - Lakeside N 44° 31.803 W 110° 17.840 Scratching the surface of Yellowstone's beauty Send me an e-mail that says what the subject of the sign is. Any "finds" made without providing the correct answer may be deleted. Don't post answers here even if encrypted. Here is my cache listed in March. Any ''finds'' made without providing the correct answer may be deleted. It's no coincidence! The other one is the same. Admin won't answer my e-mails, and they've all been very politely worded and spaced at least a week apart. I've been trying since the first week in March to get them listed.
