  1. Thanks Pup Patrol. I was looking everywhere BUT my log.
  2. Go to your log and and you should see symbols on the right side: a pencil (edit log), a red x (delete log) and a picture frame (upload image). Click on the picture frame. That will take you to the page where you can upload an image. B.
  3. I'm sure this has been answered 1000 times, but I can't figure out how to attach a photo to a log for a TB I found. I appreciate the help. Mark
  4. Sorry about not following up on this. We were away at Disney World and the cache in question is Magic Kingdom. GC10FB. There is no personal email for the owner listed, and I emailed them through the profile email asking for one to send the photo to but they never replied. As you can see, they ask you to email a photo of you at the site before you log it as a find.
  5. So there's no way of doing it if their email address isn't listed, other than to email them and ask for their email address?
  6. I feel like I should know this by now, but I've never had to email the cache owner a photo before proving that we were at the site. How do you do it?
  7. Thanks for the help, everyone. I also found a video on youtube by gpscity.com which helped show the procedure. My GPS unit is "up north" but I'm looking forward to taking care of this on the weekend.
  8. We've been using the CSx for a few months. The red arrow will point in the right direction when we are driving, but not at a slow speed such as walking. At this point we resort to watching the yards count down if we are walking in the correct direction. I've always assumed this is due to the difficulty in satellites getting a good "fix" on our direction when we are walking because it is too slow a movement. Is this correct or should the red arrow point in the correct direction even when walking? Thanks for any help.
  9. We released several TBs in San Francisco in March. It's interesting to see how some are very active. I get a notice every few days that they've moved again. Others, on the other hand, were picked up and were placed in another cache which has not been visited again since March or else sat in someone's drawer for a couple of months until I sent a gentle email asking them to place it in a cache.
  10. We have a few TBs out there. One, in particular, was picked up in San Francisco and has been to Germany and is now traveling around Switzerland. While we're happy to see it moving around Europe, it would be nice if we knew what the logs said. I guess the reverse is true as well... they may not be able to read what I said about the TB in the first place. Oh well.
  11. We found the two caches closest to our home a couple of weeks ago and logged them through the website. They now appear as found on the website when we do a search of "closest to home". However, when we get our updated pocket queries now through geosphere, they are still showing up as unfound. There are no field notes waiting to be uploaded. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. Is it considered OK to screw such a cache into a tree?
  13. Today we went geocaching in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Talk about cache density/sq. mile! These all seem to be very active, however lots have TBs listed as being in them and none had any (other than geofish placed a couple of days ago). We placed a couple, but I worry about them going AWOL too.
  14. We live in Southern Ontario and in our area it would be unusual for a cache to go a couple of weeks without someone visiting it (assuming it doesn't have a string of DNFs). Sometimes throughout the winter you had to dig through ice and snow to get at them. We're in South San Francisco for a vacation this week and some of the caches we're going to haven't had anyone visit in 3 months! These are caches in parks that are quite easy to find and are intact. Why the difference?
  15. Wouldn't it make sense to have an extra option from the drop-down menu where you can enter which cache you found it in if the one that's listed isn't correct? This will keep things current and avoid everything getting messed up when someone neglects to log the fact that they placed it in a cache.
  16. I'm still not sure which drop-down option to pick when I grab it. Do I grab it from the last person to be in possession of it or do I use the "discover it" drop-down and then follow the instructions you gave me to make sure there is a record of it being in that cache?
  17. We're fairly new to geocaching so forgive us if this question has been asked many times. We picked up a couple of travel bugs today and when we went to log them, their last entry was for a previous cache. What's the most appropriate way for us to log our find? If we choose the "Grab from Current Holder - holder's name" then it doesn't show the cache name we found it in. If we choose "Discovered It" then it doesn't show that we grabbed it. We've logged other TBs and GCs that were up to date and it was a very straightforward process because the name of the current cache was given in the list of drop down options.
  18. I haven't bought any geocoins yet. That's partly because they're more expensive and partly because they look so attractive, they have to be much more likely to be stolen than TBs. Having said that, I like the fact that geocoins are so compact. You can squeeze them into caches that would be impossible for most TBs. For example, we were in Curacao a couple of weeks ago and found the cache Bon Bini na Korsou. Beautiful spot. The cache was just big enough to squeeze a geocoin in it. It has since been discovered by 3 or 4 other geocachers. I'm surprised that no one has taken the geocoin to move it on. In fact I emailed the last poster to ask them if it was still there. I'm beginning to wonder if someone has stolen the coin.
  19. I'm new to geocaching and have 1 TB released and a couple soon to be released. I also just purchased 8 more. Any stats on how many of these I can expect to still be circulating a couple of years from now? I've come across several caches that have multiple TBs listed but none are present. I'm beginning to suspect that the majority will disappear.
  20. If you are away on vacation and pick up some TBs or Geocoins, is it OK to place them in your own geocache close to home or is this something that is discouraged in favour of placing them in other geocaches?
  21. I have to assume that no airports will allow caches anywhere on their property. But they obviously would be ideal spots to move TBs and Geocoins. Is it common for caches to be set up as close to airport property as possible? We'll be spending a few hours in Dulles in Washington, and in San Juan with connecting flights over the next couple of weeks.
  22. I'm beginning to have second thoughts about placing it in the phone booth because I noticed today that there is a light on inside it 24 hours a day. I think it would look very suspicious, especially in the evening, if people coming up to the nearby stop sign see someone on their knees checking every square inch of the booth.
  23. Since I'm new to this... Could you please explain how you would log a "dip".
