I never intended to imply that DeLorme would treat you any way but proper. I was just saying that it is indeed cheaper for them to replace the whole unit rather than just replace the casing, keypad and anything else that might need to be replaced. It is cheaper for them to do that because, just because we pay hundreds of $$ for a GPS does not mean it costs them near as much to build one. Therefore, it would probably cost them more to pay the tech to rebuild yours than just replace it. I don't think they would do this maliciously. Since your old friend seems to perform a bit better than the newer model, I would just tell them that it is important to you that they just replace the parts and not the whole thing. Based on your experience and my need for a GPSr, I definitely intend to look for a used DeLorme. Bruce.

I'm not sure where your from but dnr needs no permission what so ever to come onto property! police officers do need permission but conservation police or "dnr" do not need permission what so ever. how else would they check people for hunting licenses and foid cards? stand on the property line calling for any hunters to come out? hahahahahaah sorry to burst your bubble but yes they can just walk on to your private property or they wouldnt be able to do there job yep in Canada they have just as much power as a customs officer they can rip your vehicle apart looking for what ever they want to (that is if you give them attitude) I really do not think this is true. They cannot rip a vehicle apart looking unless you give them permission. Sure... much like the US they can hold you until a dog comes out and sniffs your car and then they say "the dog hit on it" this will quickly be disallowed in court. Of course this only applies if you have nothing hidden in your car. -
True. However, he's answered a heck of a lot more questions than I would, if Groundspeak called me a liar in a public format. As much as I love this game, an insult like that would've likely lead to a geocide by me. There are some things in this life I refuse to tolerate. Being called a liar, when I behave honorably is one of those things. And, he's answered a heck of a lot more questions than Groundspeak, Nomex, Jenn or the local reviewers. In fact, of all the people involved, Super Fly is the only one who has been forthright. Gotta say I agree with that ^^

Sorry to piggy-back on Zach's thread but ditto on what he said.

No idea. I told them what was broken, what the unit does now and we discussed when I could eventually return it. I was told that, if it was just exterior, it shouldn't be too much, but I've no idea what "too much" is! I would be careful. When I worked in a repair depot for electronics several years ago, We would swap out the old unit for a new one. It is cheaper that way. Make sure you mark down your serial number(s) and don't let them tell you that the repair required wiping the memory. They will often tell you that the internal battery needed replacement and that is why the all information in it is lost. Not trying to make it like they are out to screw you but... this stuff happens often. And now... I will go out and look for a used DeLorme to buy! Excellent story!

Ok, that just made my day, and since it is only 19 minutes into the day, that's saying a lot! Speaking of it being just past midnight, I think I should start the day off right by going to bed. G'nite. Oh, and to the OP: Starting a thread in the forums and suggesting that your reviewer be replaced by a bit of code is not a real good way to get them to make an exception. I suppose you've realized this and that's why you want the thread closed. Let me show you something that might make you feel better. It just made my day: Just keep telling yourself, "It's all uphill from here. It's all uphill from here. It's all uphill from here. It's all uphill from here. It's all uphill from here." Go to bed. and try to be more original next time...

Objectionable Posting: You Make The Call...
brslk replied to OzGuff's topic in General geocaching topics
no, it is not true. were you abroad your tenth grade year, or did you just sleep through it? i'm interested by the odd phrasing you use about "your own reasons". you don't happen to have a rebel flag tattooed on your face, do you? Why must you insult everyone in most of your posts? Were you bullied in school and are now trying to get even? I only notice it because you post a lot and the majority of your posts are insulting to others. I hope it makes you feel good. But it makes you look small....and sad... really. you went through four thousand of my posts to compile that kind of data? how very sweet of you. i don't know why you little people assume i sent my seventh grade year in other people's gym lockers. i was too busy going to parties. but what i did accomplish was to draw you out and shed more light on the topic, which is what i wanted. so thanks. No, thank you for showing yourself. No one said you spent you seventh grade in gym lockers but you... you then made up how popular you were by saying you were too busy at parties? (no one who went to jr high parties feels a need to brag about it(I don't believe you)) I am now convinced you did spend your 7th grade in some persons gym locker and have never seen a party (even as a wet blanket) And really? your whole objective was to draw little old me out? wow.... thanks for thinking of me often... don't know if I should feel flattered or stalked... either way... we disagree and the picture is only racist to those who see such things. I see white people with big lips... don't you? BTW: who are/is "you little people" that you speak of? are you large or just think you are more important? thanks for the slip... Nice to know how you detest us "little people" here. -
This thread should be deleted.

It's not "unfair". It isn't geocaching though. Groundspeak specifically states that you need to use a GPS device to find the caches. Having said that, I don't care how you find them as long as you put them back and don't let people see you getting it or putting it back. Where does Groundspeak state that? On this page http://www.geocaching.com/about/finding.aspx The comment was half tongue-in-cheek but there isn't an emoticon for that. There is an emoticon that displays some sense of sarcasm. I would really like to see where on the page you linked that say geocaching is only for those with a gps? It isn't called 'gpscaching'. Look up what "geo" means. I agree that a gps makes the game easier and even more fun but, it can even be done with a map, compass and a little knowledge. Heck... it can even be done with google!

On Topic: I do not find it offensive because it isn't racist. It is a caricature. nothing more... people pay good money at Disney land to have such pictures drawn. Ive seen pics of Bush that made him look like an ape... racist? no... a caricature... Grow some skin and let it go. Do you want to be moderated to death? Think for yourself, learn from others when you can and ignore those you don't want to learn from. Do not let silly things on the internet be the guide of your moral compass. -
I would love to spend the time to write a full page in log books but, more often than not the caches are placed in spots that there are soo many muggles around, I can't. When given the opportunity, I do write as much as possible (because that is what I would wish to see in log books of my caches). But for the most part. It just isn't practical anymore. I do try to remember to take notes and write what I can on the online logs though. Bruce.

I didn't "though" around any insults without knowing the facts. I responded with my opinion based on the facts you provided. I made it quite clear what my opinion was. It was that you were less than honest. Deal with it.

Seems kinda like rewriting history to me. Besides, whats the point of comparing these things? How did you know that they were muggled at the time you DNF'd them? I don't think it was a "good" thing to do.... In fact... I think it is kinda dishonest...
-
Hi, you appear to be new here. This type of response isn't a good one. This is a family friendly forum and there is a possibility that someone might take you seriously. Relax. Take two doses of history and call me in the morning. Thanks for that Castle Mischief.

I like to leave my deceased fathers old medication. That way people can trade it for meds they have and don't need (sorry, I am new here and that thread cracks me up) Bruce.

I just let my wife wash the notebooks. I know it works with my sweaters? (hope she doesn't read this )

Clicking upon the user name reveals their location unless they have chosen to not reveal it. Houston, Tx. in this case. I believe that was stated in post #3. Reading the entire thread before posting is a good way to avoid posting redundant information. OT: I would just stick to basics until you learn exactly how your GPS works. Like others have said... you can learn the rest later. Have fun.

The other kind does not bend very well but! If you apply it and then heat it, It works excellently. Seeing as how it is plastic, It responds very well to heat and softens up and adheres really good. Give it a try. Bruce.
-
I have used this and the thing is to apply it and then heat it with a heat gun or lighter around corners and edges to make it softer and stick better. Bruce.

New World Record - 413 geocache finds in ONE day
brslk replied to ventura_kids's topic in General geocaching topics
Why? and how was the scenery along the way? power geocaching doesn't interest me in the slightest.... and there is no world record for it... why bother? -
And how was the scenery? (after all... we cache for the views and the hike.)

I am about to place my first cache. So, If I leave a penny in there... will the n ext person leave a nickel? the next a dime etc... until eventually my cache is full of hundred dollar bills? This is how it should be. I also don't look for caches for the swag but it is to find nice stuff. I love to find home made things. Myself... I tend to leave things more than take them. I like to leave stuff in its original packaging. mostly for kids but I do try to leave things adults would like also. I do however plan to be a very active cache owner and CITO out crap from my caches and place good stuff... Bruce.
