  1. Are you going to entertain trades for your coin? If so, I'd offer up one of my coins in trade. DC
  2. Am I reading that right, this event is on May 20, 2006? We would love to float the river too. I would like to discuss that with whoever is "in charge/knowlegable" of the area. For instance, river rating. I have experience, but the rest of the clan does not. I have a 6 and 7 year old that will be traveling with. I do not have a boat/raft. Are you guys using rafts? The cache page said there may be room available. Who should I contact to discuss that? I may be able to borrow one for the trip as well. Anyway, we are planning on attending, at least the camp out and hopefully the float trip. DC
  3. Awesome coin! Count me in for 3! DC
  4. Make sure you are using this link. The preview link is dead. DC
  5. That's a great idea Jester. I've done the same thing with a couple of WA guide books, trying to make our Delorme Challenge this summer as fun (for everyone in the family) as possible. Inside/Out Washington and Washington's Best Places gave me some good ideas. DuncanClan
  6. Use this: (On your forum signature on GC.com account profile) URL=http://leduncan.tripod.com/duncanclancoin.htm]DuncanClan GeoCoin[/url with [] around the outside. DC
  7. Pictures of the coin (from the minter) have been updated on my site. Please let me know what you think! DuncanClan

  9. If I could have edited the original post, I would have done a "self merge" of the posts. Not complaining, however in the future, when you merge posts like this, it would be better if the newest post was on top. In this case the link in the first post is dead and other readers have to scroll waaaayyyy down to get to the newer post. Spaghetti? I love spaghetti! DC
  10. I am begining the presale for the trackable DuncanClan Coin! Thanks to all who posted to this thread. All the coin details, ordering information and presale information are here. I will update the coin minting process on my site and here on this thread. Thanks everyone! DC
  11. We cache as a family. On rare occurances, usually while one of us is traveling, we will cache without the rest of the family. My kids are 5 and 6. So, needless to say, like MamaMouse, they are not allowed out of my wife or I's sight during the hike, etc. We have 3 GPSr's. We let the kids "follow the arrow" and count down the distance. When we get close to the cache, we normally let them find it. If I see it, I will back off and maybe throw a clue at them to get them in the right direction. One "rule" we have that hasn't been mentioned here yet is The children are not allowed to open the cache. An adult will open the cache and inspect it prior to letting them have there hands in it. Anything from sharp objects to other dangerous or inappropriate things have on occation been found in caches. So, I inspect it, grab the log book and make my log while they rummage through and trade out swag. Whether it's a micro or an ammo can, I have "lucked out" with my kids. They seem to be in it for the same adventure I am. They think the swag is fun, and so do I, but it doesn't really seem like that's what there in it for...it's the FIND! I know they're still young, and can only hope that they'll cache (and other hobbies) with us parents when they hit those tween and teen years. DC
  12. DuncanClan will send 3 coins when they arrive from the minter. God Bless DC
  13. Thanks everyone for your input so far! Here are some answers to questions and concerns: Yes, I am adding "Trackable on www.geocaching.com" on the oppisite side of the number bar. I am also concerned about this, and am working on the image. It will be either the silver resized, or a rendition of the color crest. I am willing to trade for coins...that's really the whole point of it right? I've also got family scattered around the U.S. who have agreed to randomly place a few for me as well. However, many cachers/geocoin collectors are just begining their collections and/or haven't created their personal coin yet. Purchasing coins gives these collectors something to trade for coins that aren't for sale anymore. This is what I've done for nearly a year now, buy 3; keep one, trade one and set one free! Again thanks for all your input so far, I really appreciate it! When the final artwork is complete, I expect it Monday, I will post it to my preview site. I am hoping to start the presale on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the minter. DC
  14. Well, here goes...Been working on this coin for a while. I have submitted one small change to the artwork shown here, which is to make DuncanClan one word on the front. It will be GC.com Trackable and will have an Icon (a silver version of the crest on the front of the coin). 5 color enamel on the front. 3D engraving of Deception Pass on the back. Really I am trying to get a guage as to how many to order. So please respond to this post with comments! My order right now stands at 500. Here is a link to the preview page. 15. Log #1: (DNF) December 31, 2005 by DuncanClan (71 found) The entire Clan looked and looked, but did not find. I went back solo this evening, until it got too dark. Still no find. I reckon it's just hidden real well and not missing. I'll think on it for a couple of days and...I'll be back for this one! DuncanClan Log #2 January 3 by DuncanClan (71 found) Well, Mrs. DuncanClan and I snuck off for a bit today and finally found this one. My 6 y/o daughter had actually seen it the other day, pointed it out to me. I looked right at it and said, "Nahh, that's not it"... Great location, had a good time tackling this one. TFTH, DuncanClan DC
  16. I've been fiddling around with a db to track coins and contacts. I'll probably be done with it this weekend (I am working this weekend, so I use the term loosly and could be as late as the next weekend!) I've read through the posts, and am adding some of the things that everyone said they would like to see in a db. If there are any other ideas, let me know. I figure between ScoutingWV and myself, we should be able to come up with something usable. Let me know if there are any other requests! BTW, I use both Access 2000 and 2003. I am developing in A2000 and will test it in 2003 (make adjustments, etc. if necessary). DC
  17. Hiking medalions, or the hiking staff itself can also be a travelbug. Tracking all of your adventures while caching. I currently do this with the Daypack I use. DC
  18. The DuncanClan is in for 2. One to keep and one to travel. Cache on Bikedog. DC
  19. We would also be intereseted in 3. Nice looking coin. DuncanClan
