  1. I knew a guy that lost his job after 12 years all because he was caching on company time in the company car. Scubasonic You have never known such a person, never. You might have known someone who used company resources in a manner that violated company polices and by doing so was grounds for termination. I have seen more than one person make that trip out the door. He was fired for misuse of company resources, the company car and his time that the company was paying for. He was using those resources to geocache. He was fired for geocaching. Not hard to follow that logic, now is it? Doesn't matter what corporate speak you want to use to describe the situation. Well, yes that 'logic' IS in fact impossible to follow. Nice try though.
  2. I will assume that you meant "hide and list under your gc account", right?
  3. If I were chief of police and an officer under my command failed to properly investigate suspicious behavior because there might be a geocacher on site would, upon first offense, receive a written reprimand so long as there were no related property damage or injury to a citizen. Else, he gets fired.
  4. An exception has recently been posted. You are dead wrong. Don't shoot the messenger. Thanks.

  6. "GM scripts start to rewrite the page only once it's finished loading completely)." Does this happen on every single page that is loaded? What would the user see when this action happens?
  7. i have found 90 puzzle caches so far and could easily get it up to 100. nothing "over the top" there as far as i can see. i have found one puzzle cache but i am not positive about that. a cache such as this is therefore, "over the top" as far as i can see.

The attribute additions and changes are very cool.
  9. But aren't those mainly overseas is places like Iraq and Afghanistan? In the US, and I imagine other parts of the world, where the parts of the base are open to free access by the public then caches would be okay. Suggestion, sometime this weekend, just saunter right thru the main gate at your nearby active military base, k?
  10. Pipe bomb Cache in question I don't really see a resembelance. However, if I were a muggle and found the cache I might have done something, but not call the bomb squad. If I was a muggle and saw someone place the cache, I might have done something, perhaps call the bomb squad. Better to be safe than sorry, I suppose. What's the phone number for the Bomb Squad?
  11. I think that you have hit on a really great idea. Let's just reduce fire and police responder staff by oh let's say 30% and if it turns out that that isn't adequate, hire 'em back until the desired coverage is achieved. That, or the fire and police planners have done onefheckofajob in accounting for 'chasing their butt time'. Maybe they could take fewer/shorter coffee breaks, eh? Or hire you as a consultant.
  12. Interesting that they x-rayed it first. I wish more bomb squads would do that. I must wonder why it would cost "thousands of dollars" to x-ray a package, though. Well the last time I went to the emergency room for a sprained ankle they x-rayed it - the bill was almost $700. Add to that the cost of multiple police officers on scene, for several hours, plus however long it took them to complete the resulting paperwork etc. Not to mention the bomb squad. I would not be surprised if >20 law enforcement officers were involved in this in its entirety. I could easily see how the incident cost thousands of dollars. I am not sure why Harrahs would be billed for it tho. Sounds like the FD overreacted and called the cops. Not being directly involved I can only speculate wildly, so I'll stop here Officers that are being paid even if they didn't have to respond to this call? From an HR and general coverage view point, how many officers should be allocated per dispatch?
  13. As far as The Team is concerned, most of the stuff in caches is junk. We do not trade these days and there is little likelihood that that is going to change any time soon. One thing about this is 'good' I suppose, it makes it really easy to 'trade up'.
  14. People with metal detectors who put the detector down and stay in one place for ten minutes while digging through the sand ten feet from where my kids are playing, are going to have my most rapt attention, especially if they come up empty-handed. The archive log from the reviewer is also very interesting. It appears that the CO changed his story as to whether the cache was buried or not. I'm guessing that any benefit of the doubt which he might have been hoping to get went out of the window right there. Paranoid.
  15. "Halsey encouraged future participants to refrain from taping caches to pipes or a building's support structure because law enforcement personnel will consider them suspicious." What an outrageous and silly idea.
  16. Great idea. Let us know how it works out, will you?
  17. Yes, you have to sign the log book. If you don't, something bad will happen.
  18. Seems to be running slowly and go this when clicked on GPS Reviews Link: An Error Has Occurred Your request has resulted in an error. Please return to this site's home page to continue.
  19. People live in restricted access communities because that want to have a degree of control over who and when people enter their community. I find it very difficult to believe that such a community would knowingly allow access to total strangers because someone, even a property owner, hid a cache container there and listed the location of that container on a web site. I could be wrong but I seriously doubt it.
