  1. I recently placed my first cache and put a 1oz. .999 silver round for FTF. It was from my stash I bought from my metal detecting finds. In watching the prices lately I may have over indulged. It received a nice mention in the finders post so it was worth it.
  2. 28yrs repairing railroad cars. Mostly double stack equipment now, the ones that carry the big containers. If you have ever been stopped at a RR Xing and seen the yellow rail cars, that's our equipment. Also part time blues musician. There is no money in it and it's a lot of fun so I guess that's not really a job...
  3. I want to start a couple of bugs to help promote Foster Parenting. Are there any rules or requirements needed to undergo such an endeavor? This country is in crisis right now and I want to touch as many hearts as possible in ALL communitys large and small.
  4. I'm building one that will be in a rubber heart, as in in the human type. I hope to have it ready for Halloween...
  5. I carry a small bag of goodies in my truck, but as a guitar player I always have a few pics in my pocket and usually drop one in the caches I find.
  6. If you want to be really creative try a theme type cache. I just placed my very first cache with a music theme. I put in a bunch of inexpensive musical instruments and other music related items. And suggested to trade in kind if possible. Make it fun. MB
  7. I legally carry at all times and have never had to use it.
  8. I recently found the discarded packaging from an item that was taken from a cache. The item was logged on the cache page. I almost wrote a note on it. but didn't think it was worth the trouble. I just took the trash, left some swag and let my boys swap some stuff. Just sayin'...
  9. I've been using a little clip-on watch band compass to augment my GPSr but recently found my dads old WWII compass. I'll take it out with me next cache and see what it does I've forgotten all the stuff I learned in scouts 40+ years ago. I guess it is never to late to learn again...
  10. I play harmonica, rhythm guitar and slide guitar in a blues band and guitar on the worship team at church. I also sing on a few tunes in the blues band. We, the blues band, have played some of the local taverns in the South Puget Sound area and some fund raisers. We were nominated for best new blues band by the Washington Blues Society in 2005. I like to leave a mini harmonica as my sig and usually drop a guitar pick in the caches I find.
  11. I've just started leaving Mercury dimes, from my metal detecting days. One of the most beautiful coins ever made IMHO My sig = a tiny Hohner harmonica caribiners caribiner pens polished stones dice dollar store stuff stuff I would like to find I usually just leave stuff and let my boys swap things they would like to find. I like the hunt and time with my boys.
  12. 3 paper clips Well I sure hope my bug can complete its mission. I'm clearing a space in my yard now.
  13. I went to the local fabric store and bought a 1/4 yard of clear vinyl for about .33 cents. plenty of room for my mistakes and as soon as I find my exacto knife I think I can make a pretty good fit. I put my legend cx on the scanner and used the scan for my template.
  14. I started a couple of years a go with the same unit, GPS12. I bought the serial cable and a serial to USB, then connected to my lap top. I used "Easy GPS", (free) and easily down loaded GC's to my unit. As soon as I found a couple of GC's I was hooked. I now have a Legend C and a Legend Cx, and still keep the GPS12 for backup or for the kids. Good luck and welcome MB
  15. I leave guitar picks too. I always have several in my pocket. But my sig is a tiny Hohner harmonica.
  16. Poverty Bay Foreign Exchange (GCC9BF) This one is by me. I haven't found, (looked for) it yet but am amassing some coins from my metal detector finds.
  17. I have always a gadget freak so when I received my 25yr service award catalouge and saw a Garmin GPS 12 I said "cooool" I didn't know anything about GPS so I googled it and found GC.com. found a couple of caches and then up graded to a LEGEND C
  18. How would you feel about a copy of my own bands demo cd. It is self produced by some old f*rts who love to play the blues.
  19. Been lurking, it sounds so dirty, for a couple of years. I only have a half dozen finds and a travel bug out and about. I've had some health issues but I am getting better and plan on taking my sons out in the very near future. I even have a very special cache to place when I find the perfect spot. MB
  20. I am building my first cache now and plan to leave a one ounce .999 silver coin as a FTF. I bought a pile of 'em years ago at $7 an oz. with metal detector finds. At $13+ now I hope the finder will be pleased.
  21. The only stupid question is the one not asked...
  22. I got my new Legend CX and a 2G card for it and was able to load ALL of north America. I started with high lighting the little maps and found it Very time consuming. After about 30 or 40 minutes I found you could draw a box around groups of maps and then discovered if go to a 1500 mi veiw you could draw a box around the whole darn thing all at once. I hope this little tip can help others. MB
