  1. We are flying in this weekend and will have but a small bit of time to cache on Sunday and Monday morning. We will be heading down Hwy to San Pedro to catch a cruise ship on Monday. Are there any must-dos along this route? If I have to choose a handful in this area (along this route) could you recommend them to me? It will be hubby and I. We prefer quality to quanity, but do not want to hike in too far to anything since we are in a rental car on a slight time schedule. Thanks in advance!
  2. again not working it seems .....
  3. Love the new bookmark feature! I have been making some lists as time allows. I'd love to see a return link from the thank you page. Right now we have to use the Back button to go back to our search page for the caches.
  4. Thanks Spence! I'll take note of those and check them out. I am actully heading past Atlanta to the Athens area. I hope to grab several in the middle Georgia area area when I visit my Mom as well. What takes you to those parts? Have a great trip and be safe! Blessings, Dawn
  5. Hey there .... can you guys help me out with some kid friendly caches off of Hwy 78 between Tupelo MS and Birmingham AL and on the other side of Birmingham along I-20 to GA (read: caches in parks with playgrounds.) Even though the weather may be frightful during our travel time (over Christmas,) they will need to blow off a bit of stuck-in-the-car-jitters and we would like to do some treasure hunting along the way. Thanks! mm and crew edited for typos
  6. I have two boys ages 5 and one. The caches they accompany me and DH on are ones that I know are drive bys, virtuals or in parks where a playground is. I of cource prefer the park ones to the others but save others for days I really need a cache fix and the weather (or kids) are cooperating. They love going to the playgrounds and the 5YO loves "looking for treasure." We haven't attempted anything we would need a backpack for with them yet and bc the little one is a big one already, I don't see where we would beneift from one at this point. HTH and have fun!
  7. I have read about cachers getting new swag from dollar stores. What kind of things do you get? signed, a newbie whose kids are too sick to hunt right now, so she's stockpiling swag to create some caches
  8. Question from a confused newbie .... do I need to add anythign to my new Gold in order to hunt? I'd also like to use it in the car for finding my way around in new places. Would I need anything else then? If so (in either case) what do you guys recommend and why? TIA~Dawn
  9. Hi there .... I live in Hernando and think I can "second" your recommendation for the local burger place you are referring to. I read your log and assume it can only be one place. I think it is great to recommend places. I agree that I'd rather not eat at every McD's in the country but this particular place is not one I would have thought about going to when we first moved here had someone not taken me there. Glad you enoyed our little town. (I've only been here since March but love it!)
  10. Found 'em on eBay. Are they older models? Are they worth the $$? Still not sure what I want/need? New to GCing and need the GPS for my car too. Dawn edit: typo
  11. Just wondering if oithers do it. I have two young buys (almost 5 and 9 months.) I'm so new to this that I don't have a GPSr yet (my birthday is coming up!) I'm wondering about baby backpacks (atre they worth it and if so what brand do you recommend,) tips and tricks on doing it easy with little ones, how to get them hooked on it like I am so far! LOL! Anyone take the little ones or do you plan your GCing around babysitters? TIA~Dawn
  12. Hello all! I stumbled into GC via a link from the AK State Parks page. I had no idea GCing existed before then. I am so excited to have made this discovery. I joined the site that very day and have been reading everything I can with the free time I have. I called DH after reading for several hours the first day and tried my best to explain to him what I had found (this site and my newest obsession!) and he laughed, "Honey I had planned on getting you a GPSr for Christmas because you are always getting lost!" Well, I have him convinced to get it for me for my birthday (in three weeks!) I'm assuming that people with no direction since can do this since they have the GPS to guide them? So that brings me to my questions ..... DH wants something that will help me with driving directions as well as whatever will be good for GCing. I think I want the Vista. Will that do on road/in town stuff well too? Can all GSPrs download waypoints or are only a few set up for that? Can you add memory like you can to a computer or are you stuck with what comes with it? Can someone point me to some info on the GPS software? I keep seeing bits and pieces on it, but no real details. What about the mapping software? I think I understand that it is specific to the brand of GPSr? How do I find other GPSrs in my area and do they welcome muggles to join them on their expeditions just to get the hang of it? I know no one who does this and have already infected others who want to get into it! HA HA HA Anyway, thanks in advance for the help. Getting ready to order the book while I wait for my birthday to come around. (20 days and counting!!!!!) Dawn in Mississippi[/size]
