Baggies and tight closing containers. Dirt and bug happen as said above. You just have to check the cache and clean. I keep golf rags clipped to my stuff and dry caches and clean as i go. I'll leave a note in the online log if I cleaned one up. Some of my friends who are cachers just can't get to all of there caches for cleaning and maintenance so we agree to help each other. I use preforms, or baby soda bottles for small caches even these end up with water and dirt in the lids. I have car air fresheners cut into stips I drop in smelly caches, it just happens here, even if a cache is clean. You will find what works best for you and your area.

Yes, you all are right GPS and Smart phone use GPS, I know I'm hung up on the GPS Units being more accurate. I use them at my work and we have sub meter units, and I feel hand held are better? But even Garmin look not to making hand helds....... One of my fellow cacher told me the NEWer phones have better GPS chips so they will be improving. So your right it' "GPS" use. This helps, I looked up the link you listed and the wording is the newest I have seen. I love the geocaching web site but for me some things are hard to find. I like the wording and it has a geocaching logo. I created a geo-art in Southeast Missouri I need to use our club logo and the eagle on it. I unique log would be nice for the 69 caches but it does not get a lot of play. It's to time consuming, for hunter and physically demanding. I need to post on geo art were would it go in the forum? Thank you for all the suggestions. I get 3 log sheets from a 11 x 8.5 sheet, my tubes are the 1.5 oz or 5.5 inches long. My old log is good but says GPS new log will say and smart phone. Just bought 500 sheets of Rite in the rain paper now to print the logs. Best wording? Is there a standard? Suggestions, my old one are more toward the GPS unit now Phones seem to rule. Look at putting the Rite in the rain logo on it too. I sell preforms with logs, so for me and the game I'd like a good log.

Wanted to add that my app is up to date. To see the game I had to uninstall and reinstall to see the clues. It was after this that I noticed the problems. I'm sure I have lost posted logs before but just one once in a while, I was thinking bad or no cell coverage. Next date 8-1 Did a restart and today it's working. Drafts app finished at site Works. App only works and logs appear on site and number of caches found goes up. All good today ??

I'm losing log. Logged on app as finds or DNFs. Tried draft that failed too. Caching friend keep a list of finds. Some I wrote up three times..... Only the website seems to log them. App kept losing the logs even after it showed a smiley and the gem I found..... I only have a phone with me for logging. I guess my work around is writing them down. Then website write ups. Solution?

This day there was one draft of three. Lost two they never showed back up. However I will do what you suggested next time and hope they show up. I'm going to keep count to make sure I'm not loosing any. Thank for the reply and solution.

At least it not just me. I had two drafts disappear yesterday. ? Have to wonder how many logs I ha lost. Lost one other for sure, I logged it but it didn't show up as a find or or a draft. So I logged it, it's owned by a friend so I should be ok. Hope they work on this.

I'm with you need the dates for the wolf creek CITO. I work with the Mark Twain National Forest and local paper. Want to get a early start for April dates. Hope to hear soon.

Have you ever hid a Geocache in a pond or water? We have one, to be nice it's on a cable and the weight on the tube or preform is a plumbers putty. We thought this over a very long time. One thing is we used a putty that is potable, why? we did not want to poison the pond, no fish but tadpoles and other amphibians live there. The log is a plastic paper it's worked so far. But I like to hear about other water hides. PS we love find a gave and will have to do the look up next grave we see on TV. We do photos for find a grave.

I use preforms or un-exploded soda bottles for small caches. I also place them inside bigger cache to hold the log. Last time I made a big maintenance loop trip I found someone had taken my preform and left pill bottles in there places? So I put down new one and new logs. I like the Gorilla tape and Duck Duct tape, color depends on the hide our rock are light tan. The big advantage beside help hide the container it keeps the condensation down on the inside. Tape helps me made them a hanger too.

That sounds good just seeing the DNF and the NM would be a big help. I also take care of Geoart I planned it and my local club set out the caches at the set locations. That's an additional 69 caches I watch. The club is about gone but we do the twice a year CITO for the area. I have to try to rad on the GSAK I have had people talk about the program before. I use two apps geocaching.con and c:geo, the second has built in add in like the cache owner, number of finds, day date and time. Both have positive features. I try to add cache condition to all my logs. I like to see it from others who log my caches.

Some of us live in Rural areas and there are not enough people hiding. So when I stated the game I knew I would be a hider. I sell preforms on ebay to support my hiding caches. I'm not beyond turning off a cache and picking it up. In fact I have turned some of mine off so others could use the space to hid new caches in. I have improved several to be more water proof and up graded some to Ammo cans. So an app to help me will help my area and me keep up with my caches.

However, it back fired when a cache has been logged FOUND, because they found the spot and not the cache?? is this OK, I play to sign the log not just find the spot. Yes, a sad story of two travel bugs. TB57652 TB3BJQ9 As the story goes I was given these two from a friend who picked the up in OK. I took the to Cassville MO. Where I was teaching a class for Wonder of Wildlife (WOW). They also teach geocaching. I'm think this is a good spot cachers are here and I can keep these TBs moving. The first one is in a race. After my class was done, I meet two cacher. Here's my chance. They agree to take and place them. My fault I did not mark there name on my class sheet. There they go. So as you can guess the bug are stuck for two weeks +. So now I will call the WOW and try to look this couple up. So I have real names is there a way to search for real names? Or if they use part of there real name in their caching name is there a wild card? Like *Smith* to find names with smith in them? Or %smith% for a search? Anyone know the wildcard or ? in searching the site? I would like to know for the future too.....

We are just getting started with geocaching. We found our first coin, wow. Our family will be collecting coins in the future as the budget allows. We have a travel bug to put out soon.
