  1. Bouts is closer than Wazat - but there were a few U boats that were sunk in and around SA waters - this one was actually sunk a little south of Madagascar - outside of SA waters .. but what is significant about it?

First one sunk by a South African warship?

  2. Hi Anne

That's great! I'm not sure what to suggest in terms of meeting up. I arrive on Saturday 23rd and have a more or less free day that day. Can you suggest something?

    Tara

    Hi

I live i Aarhus and would like to hand over a TB that would like to travel to South Africa. I visited South Africa back in 1997 and have only great memories from that trip.

    Best regards

    Anne aka skov20

  3. As there were no guesses on the previous 'Where am I?' which was St. James Church, Southwell - we have a new photo for you.

    Which cache is this?

Thought it would be rude to guess on that one ;)

  4. .

OK - clue needed - Syd De Melcker was better known as a "celebrity" in hos own right and would have been on TV fairly often in his "hey-day" had he been around nowadays.

    ......probably over the weekend ......

    Rugby player?

Yep - Syd de Melcker was a Springbok who toured with Paul Roos to the UK on the tour where the name "Springboks" was first used.

He later married Daisy and was her husband at the time of her conviction and execution. He always believed in her innocence. It was a few years after her death that a gramophone from here estate was sold on an auction. The new owner took it in for a repair a while later and inside a white envelope containing poison powder (Daisy's preferred method) was discovered. On the outside of the envelope was written "For my dear Syd.":unsure::yikes:

    All yours.

    Hmm, a conspiracy...

Easy one (hopefully): Which country has the oldest flag still in use?

  5. Yep - and now the flags are up to show just how windy it is :)

I can vouch for the wind without looking at the flags! I'll get a pic up ASAP, just realised I have none with my at work, so I'll find some at home.

    Try this one

I think this ones called DNF cache

I think a few people call it that!

  8. OK - how about this one?

Looks a bit like this one, even down to the angle of the sun.

OK - at GZ - but not caching.

Which would be Wind power, GC2B62N.

  9. Hi Everyone

One half of the team Tara and John (i.e. Tara) will be visiting Copenhagen and Aarhus in June/July 2012. I'll be bringing along some trackables from South Africa that want to see the world.

Are there an cachers in the area that would like to meet up and swop some trackables? I'm more than happy to take trackables back to South Africa with me. I won't have time to do much caching, but I will have time for a cup of coffee or two.

I'll be staying at a hotel near Nyhaven from the 18th - 21st of June and then at the Business Conference Centre in southern Aarhus from the 23rd June to the 6th of July.

Leave a message if you'd like to meet up?

  10. Nepal?

Nope! Probably would have been my first guess until I discovered the fact! ;-)

If I remember from a pub quiz "blindingly obscure" correctly, Nepal's low point is either 77m amsl or 113m amsl. Of course I could be mistaken, as the blindingly obscure question happens late in the evening.

Can I be cheeky and ask if Tibet counts as a country in this case?

My guess is Mongolia. Based on nothing in particular.

  11. That leaves Andorra and Spain. I will guess Andorra.

I had a feeling CH would do the hard work before someone snuck in and got the answer.

It was Andorra. Andorra (with its 10 part time soldiers) declared war on Germany during WW I, but never got invited to peace negotiations and so never signed the treaty of Versailles. When WW II rolled round they decided they would be neutral, which neither the Allies or Axis seemed too worried about.

    All yours cincol.
