  1. Your lucky that Moose didnt stomp the crap outta you! they are VERY protective of their young, and a bit crazy anyways. If you were on the ground it may have been your buddy writing the story instead of you. C-Troop

The only way we could figure was to go like we were going to mark a waypoint, but that just shows the current co-ords and only updates when you cancel and re-mark. http://geo.mrsnazz.com/snazzsig.jpg I have the Legend, but if you go to the page that displays the satelite strength signal, down towards the bottom it displays the coords. in real time, maybe the Yellow eTrex is similar??? 4. quote:Originally posted by Zzzoey: Anyway, enough of that rant: I guess I wouldn't put anything past someone selling stuff on ebay. I know you are hot and cranky, but thats a little harsh dont you think? you really dont need to label all eBay sellers as dishonest. There may be some bad apples, but a little common sense goes a long way..buying and selling. I have been selling stuff thru eBay off and on since 97 and havent had a customer complain yet. I got tired spending a bunch of time formatting html, uploading pics, typing endless descriptions just to end up giving stuff away. If sellers wouldnt make a profit, then they wouldnt be selling there, at least not for very long! Hopefully most buyers are smart enough to weed out the dishonest ones, dont buy from them and they will leave. C-Troop
  5. I dont own one, probably never will! Even though I appreciate new technology, to me a cell phone is just a nuisance. Now when I get my truck stuck in a big mud hole out in the middle of nowhere Ill probably change my mind, but it hasnt happened yet! C-Troop
  6. I have put together several caches, some were really cheap.. one cost all of $.50 to put together and a little time, then I have one that cost $2.75 for the container and several hours of my time to personalize it with something unique (cost $13.00). This guy isnt going to get rich off the thing, I applaud his efforts to provide a viable service to those who dont really enjoy putting the actual cache together, or simply have better things to do. At $10 he's giving them away, $20 he's making a little profit, at $30 he's lookin good and everybody copies his idea which saturates the market and the prices drop back to $10 then everyone bails out cause they are losing $$ To each his own! but he shoulda toned down that decal! 7. Ok here's your chance to name the little green guy guarding my latest cache, click here to see what Im talking about. I was thinking "Jack" but thats kinda lame, any ideas? C-Troop
  8. I was hunting a multi-locational cache (pair of Quintuplets) today and needless to say I didnt bag it. The GPS said .15mi. straight west into a farmers field, ok no problem grab my gear head out into the field to be met by one lone cow who just stood there looking at me, next thing I know the cow runs away back to a much larger group of cows (must have told them I was coming) So all of them proceeded to run away. Ok I thought this this would be easy now, only .1 left to go. so I start walking when I noticed three of the cows stayed back from the rest of the herd and was watching me real close...only problem was that I had 500' to go and the three cows (Bulls?) were standing right where I needed to be..bummer! So I stood there a minute to decide what to do next, and they all started getting kinda nervous, I moved a few steps closer and they didnt like that too much, one of them started snorting, and another one was kinda hunkered down like he was fixing to charge, and the third smaller one was just kinda standing there for backup or something, well at this point I stopped and kinda stood there to see if they were going to charge, thankfully they didnt cause they would have got me since there wasnt a tree in sight. so I backed on out, they win! Maybe Ill come back at nighttime and tip em all, that'll teach em! I wish I would have gotten a pic of the three, I had the camera around my neck, but I didnt think of it till later. I think the funniest part would have been to observe. Cows 1 C-Troop 0

  12. These two are awesome, almost 600 finds between them, and I know both have promoted the sport above and beyond the call of duty. Barondriver flys out to western Kansas several times a month and has caused a cache explosion out by Liberal, he will go place one in an area that has never had a cache before and then plant an idea or two by talking with the locals...and before you know it there are several new cachers and plenty of new caches to hunt! If you wanna be first to log a new cache around Wichita or within 200 miles, you had better be quick!! C-Troop

The near certainty that the cache has gone missing (no finds) should not, in my opinion, preclude me from logging the travel that actually took place. Worldtraveler I wouldnt have a problem with it, and personally it doesnt matter what I or anyone else thinks. Its YOUR travel bug and if the goal is to track you and your cache hunts, then it shouldnt matter if you actually found the cache or not, you did travel and search but I dont see why you cant log the miles. One thing Ive noticed about Geocaching is that there are many types of people involved in the GAME, some play by a strict set of guidelines, while others make their own rules, Me personally...I view the whole Geocaching thing as a game and play it as such, if it wasnt fun I wouldnt be doing it, Im saying this because Im sure some people will view your logging the TB mileage on a unsuccessful cache hunt as cheating or a general feeling that "those miles dont count since he really didnt find the cache" but as I said before..its YOUR TB and you are the only person that knows exactly where its been and where it hasnt, anybody accusing you of cheating for logging the miles in a situation like yours needs to get a life! 18. I think Jeremy has created "Home Coordinates" but Im not exactly sure how to use the feature regarding logging a personal TB. Sounds like the way to do it if you were wanting to track mileage from your home coords. to the cache and back. And I dont think a cache is involved...maybe one of the gurus can enlighten us?? 19. I had one that got abducted by a non-logging cacher, I tried placing log notes on some of the caches around the area the bug was taken, but this guy doesnt log online or even have a username, I didnt have a way of contacting him. I thought about creating a new cache in the area and see if hw would respond to it since he obviously at least looks at the cache pages, but I decided to just let it go...well after a few months, blammo!! the guy logs it and its back in circulation, just when I thought all was lost! In your case, At least he logged it, and you have a contact. So keep after it and eventually it will work out, sometimes life gets in the way of geocaching. And dont expect a quiick reply, sometimes it takes a few weeks or longer to get a reply out of some people. C-Troop
