  1. Thanks CreagerStone Family and Team My Blue Heaven! This is the info I was looking for, Without any decent caches near the strip I may just have to take a day and do the rental thing, I do have a list of some caches that would be a lot of fun.

    Thanks again!

    BTW...COOL FJ-40!!

  2. Can anyone tell me if there are any caches in Vegas that are close to the strip? I am doing a vegas trip next week and would like to hit a few, but I would prefer that they be close to the strip since Im not sure if we are doing the rental car thing.

    Thanks

    I agree,

Seems like people get a little too helpful sometimes..one of the best cache hunts I can remember is where the coords. were off by 130ft. and I left the cache page in the truck..otherwise the clue would have given it away.

We searched for 45 minutes and finally found it...we turned a 1/1 into a 1/3 due to our blunder..but it sure was fun.

Some of the best caches are "no information" just coords. Gives the seeker a "different" feeling due to no clues or hints.

Im not one for cookie cutter type of caches, I try to make it challenging in one way or another for the seeker, just ask anyone who has searched for mine. The challenge makes it fun and gives the seeker a sense of accomplishment when they complete the challenge. People are smarter than they let on to be, challenge them and you'll see!

  4. yes the miles are point to point, but get this..my personal TB mileage is real close to the Trip mileage on the GPS, within 100 miles.

The personal TB is just something different to do with a TB, in fact it was really Jeremy's own idea, but nobody really caught on until I posted my intentions on the other thread.

Its too bad that people still see this as a competition, Ive read all the ranting about find #'s and now its TB mileage. Will it ever end? icon_confused.gif

When will people realize that Geocaching is only a game...not a contest? geez!

Bottom line...I bought the TB and will use it however I wish, there are no set rules! And Ill continue to use my personal TB to track mileage until Jeremy codes a new way to track mileage without using up a perfectly good TB. icon_smile.gif

  6. Ill post the TB info on thelocal site and also the REgional forum here, hopefully someone has seen it and can provide more details, I will also try to contact 4America myself, but I am going on vacation for a week so if he replies it may be a little bit. Sounds like youve been patient, but just hang on...well figure it out one way or another. I had a bug go missing by a cacher that didnt log online, he just looked at the cache pages, I tried everything I could think of and no results...finally about a month later, voila the bug reappears! total down time was about three months, so even when you think all is lost, it really isnt!

    Thanks

  7. I have a bug that will be hunting another bug as soon as I find an appropriate figure to attach the bug to. Marvin the Martian's goal is to Zap any and all cities he comes across, the Zap is recorded as a picture taken of the bug at the city limit sign or other marker. My bug (Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 century) goal is to track down Marvin and Zap him before he zaps any more cities, the deal is that if DD catches up with Marvin then Marvin is de-activated for one week, and vice-versa if Marvin catches up to DD. Hopefully it will create interest in both bugs to keep em moving!

And it looks like Marvin is moving along quite well, now if I could just find the right Daffy Duck figure!

  8. And what cache did 4America supposedly place the bug in? Lemme know the details and Ill help if I can. Travel bugs are great fun but you do have to log them to make them work. I know for a fact that 4America had some personal issues and had been sidelined for a bit, and I also know that this was the first bug he has found. Im not trying to make excuses for him, But Im sure if we get the message out, Ol Buzz will be back in action soon.

Please remember..Not all of us around Wichita are like that, and I dont think 4America would purposely mess up your TB, maybe he didnt know how to use it or something, but Im sure we can sort it out.

  9. I will pick several names and then post it as a poll, everyone has done a outstanding job at thinking up different and/or ingeious names.

Yeah Brian is a bit boring! sorry for the inside humor since it was only funny to me.

    Thanks all

Apparently you didnt read my post very well, you bury the thing but the majority of it is exposed and no digging required to open the cache.

    I agree with Pneumatic:

Around our part of the country it is rather tough to find a suitable cache location due to the flatness and the lack of unique terrain so we have to find different ways to hide things to keep the game interesting and fun...thats what Geocaching is all about (to me).

Maybe you take this game too serious..thats ok its your right...but like I said Im glad you dont live in Ks.! icon_smile.gif

  12. Ok heres one, buy a sprinkler valve box ($2.75) and seal the bottom, bury it with the lid exposed...but the good part...you can attach whatever you like to the lid, A big rock, a tree log, something unique. The container is about 9" tall and 6" around big enough to fit a bunch of goodies in!

    Have fun with it.
