I have a TB hotel "Do Drop Inn" near the airport and you could place your bug in a bag and ID it to hold for Lowrider71.

I'm in. I'll even do Bob again. I love that mountain. In true form, the jeep is down for repairs... again. I'm working on it to get it up and running for the weekend. Time to buy a Land Rover, oh wait it's in the shop too.

and how do i know that that a cache was removed at the request of the owner and i shouldn't go "off-route" to find it?
-
What I don't understand is that if you are in offroad mode how do you miss a turn? When navigating off road there should be no turns indicated by the GPS, just a straight line from where you are to where you want to be.

City Navigator Not For The Outdoorsman (?)
LandRover replied to PhntmArcher's topic in GPS technology and devices
Why not just add the MG4 maps to your 76Cx also? -
I read this guy's answers to the queations that were posted on his auctions and his writing sounds justt like those e-mails I get from all those guys in Nigeria trying to give me millions of dollars.

Take a look at cache landing at tullis canyon the hike is 7-8 miles but if you're into the uniqueness this one is for you. There's also nearby Tubal Cain Treasure Hunt as well as an old copper mine nearby.

I have been using Gartrip(www.gartrip.de) for several months now and I think it is probably what you are looking for. You can take a scanned map and once you calibrate it you can load a GPX file of way points and tracks. You can also add WPs to the map by just clicking on the spot you want to add the WP. The free version limits you to 30 WPs and some other stuff, but I can't remember what they are. The learning curve is kind of steep but once you get it figured out it works pretty good.

Poi Loader For New Garmin "x" Series
LandRover replied to GeoBobC's topic in GPS technology and devices
Go ahead and try it and see what happens. -
If you are still getting power from your external power supply then the pin you broke is one of the serial communication pins. If you are using the USB port for communication there should no need to worry about the broken pin. I have never seen one but apparently you can get a serial cable that plugs into the same port as the power plug.

Because he can.

That would be a very foolish thing to do. I like to listen to old time radio podcasts when out hiking by myself, it helps keep me from thinking about how far I still have to go. Although when I do get onto the lesser traveled trails I like to turn off the IPOD so that I am more aware of my surroundings.

Garmin 60CSx Lithium Battery Problem
LandRover replied to mcgyver303's topic in GPS technology and devices
The voltage of fresh Lithiums is too high and the Garmin will shut down because of it. Try putting them in a different device for a few minutes then putting them back into your Garmin. Try this thread -
Gpsmap 60 CSx - Minor Annoyances
LandRover replied to Tharagleb's topic in GPS technology and devices
"Not an annoyance but I wish it had a "Favorites" waypoint feature so that I could always have my home coords, work coords etc. They could have then have an option to delete all waypoints except favorites." Use the Custom POI feature and create a catigory called Home. As long as you leave the Home.GPX file in your Custom POI folder on you PC the Home POI will remain in your GPSr. Or name the catagory "Favorites" instead of Home. -
edited for being dumb.(nothing new there) Congrats to Prying Pandora Looks like the Plaid Guy hit 1500 during the ECM also.

Tripping over stuff is not my problem because I am looking down at my GPSr. It's the low hanging branches and stickers across the trail that I keep getting whacked in the head with that I have trouble with.

It sounds like Garmin gave you a single unlock code. The software that you bought should come with two unlock codes so even though Garmin helped you out you still don't have what you paid for.

The Sirf Chip update has nothing to do with mass storage or any of the user interface. It fixes problems that were associated with the Sirf Chip such as the problem with losing a lock going through a tunnel and not being able to get it back w/o rebooting the GPSr.

I would contact Garmin about an upgrade disk. I looked at their update page and it doesn't show CS except for a couple of specific GPSr's. About a year ago I got CS Ver.5 off of E Bay and Garmin sent me a FREE upgrade disk. They don't look at your receipt they look at when you first installed and registered the product and if it was originaly registered after the release date of the "new" version they will upgrade it. This whole process is done after you receive the upgrade disk and try to install it on your computer. Link to who is eligable for a free upgrade.

Since you are doing Narbeck Pencil Cache (24) you might want to add in GCWCGG since it is only .2 miles away and shares the same parking location. Just a suggestion. Boy, if that's not a little blatant unsolicited self promotion I don't know what is. That being said, yeah that would be a cache well worth adding to the route. Of course if you were around in the 70's and remember the movie "Frogs", you might get a little creeped out on the way to the cahe.
-
I strongly suggest that you leave the machete at home. When a cacher hides a cache in the middle of nowhere they generally have a reason and the last thing they want is for someone to come along and blaze a big ol' trail right to it.

Prying Pandora hit #2600 at Zoinks, Scooby!!! It's a night cache! Congratulations.
