  1. Okay, first DIY is set up. There are two links so you can bookmark the first one. First is the contents and will be updated with another routable track tutorial.

The next two links are of primary interest for the Northwest Trails Project.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks TL, I don't know why I wasn't able to figure it out on my own it's such an simple process.

  2. It's taking me longer than expected, but I have begun to post the Delorme files v1.28 with major thanks to Moun10Bike for the translations. The text files are up, and T7 WA Trails are up to be followed by the POIs. Then the other regions will slowly come up.

I finally got the rest of the trails, waypoints and areas translated for T7. The text files are also there for previous versions.

Okay, so I playing with my new PN40 and have figured out how to get the NW Trails into Topo7 but can't for the life of me figure out how to get them from T7 into the PN40.

  3. Does this mean you won't be attending the Whidbey Island Cache Machine now???? ;)

Well let's just say I'm stuck with PnGs if I want to geocache at all. Better yet, drive byes would be better so long as i can get it on the driver side. :)

It's all good though. The swelling is going down and the pain is almost negligable (write that off to good drugs), and I don't try to wobble too fast.

Look at the bright side, you'll have plenty of time to get intimately familiar with the new PN-40 while your recuperating.

  4. No worries PP, I planned on visiting the emergency room right after breakfast today. I was in and out in an hour. I have a fractured tibula. The bruising is now purplish in color and the swelling is much more pronounced than it was last night. I want to thank all of you again for helping ease the way out and sticking with me for the 4 1/2 hour hike back out. I'm in a walking boot cast and will be in it for 4-6 weeks. Obviously, I won't be hiking in December and I'll have to ask the Dr about January. This makes my first fractured or broken anything in 50 years. So this is what it feels like.

I'm glad I was far enough down the hump that I didn't hear the popping and snapping as that kind of thing really makes me squeamish when it happens to other people, I can look at my own blood and guts but on others, well I just try not to.

  5. I'm looking forward to the hike tomorrow! I have to ask a question I should probably already know the answer to. What do I need permit wise for parking for this hike? Northwest Forest Pass - National Park something or other?

Info can be found HERE. But it basically says a NW Forest Pass is required.

  6. Scheduling the 22nd for the hike this month. I'm leaning towards Big Hump on the Duckabush Trail . This does have some off-trail hiking towards the end, but there is no bushes to whack through. Consider this to be a moderate hike with great views if the weather allows. Details to follow as we get closer to the date.

I'm in, if only to find out what a duckabush is and why it has a big hump on it. :)

  7. Has the final meeting place and time been established?

This is the info that j0hnnycache sent me on Tuesday

Meet at the corner of Griggs St and Mitchell Ave 8pm. You may want to bring something to change into after. See you there!

    Jason AKA j0hnnycache

    The coordinates are N47 06.462 W122 37.962

If anyone is up for it I was thinking of going to Farrelli's Pizza in Dupont after the fun.

  8. Well they just re-enforced it last summer (when the first container went missing). You would have thought they wouldn't have expended the money and effort if they were just going to tear it out a few months later.

It wouldn't be too bad if they didn't block the road, but I suspect they will block it to keep people from just driving across the stream bed.

It didn't look like they did a whole lot of re-enforcement when I was under the bridge, mostly just shoving shims in here and there. I did notice that there was a pretty good swale to the bridge that I hadn't noticed before. I wonder if they are going to close the bridge to foot/bicycle traffic also.

  9. Hi,

Being this is our first CM are there different requirements for logging a cache, ie do we sign the log as a group or as individuals?

    SEattleWinter

Contrary to the KCM's approvers idea of what a Cache Machine is all about it is all about the numbers. So the faster you get the log signed the bigger your numbers are at the end of the day. The group I Cache Machine with can sometimes get pretty big so instead of standing around waiting for 10 people to sign the log, we have a Cache Menagerie sticker that we use for the whole group. Slap a sticker on the log and you're outathere.

But if you're not in in for the numbers you can stand aroud waiting for each person in your group to sign the log or wait for them to dig their stamp out of their bag of stuff but of course they don't start this process until they have the actual log book in their hand, then after stamping the log wait for them to decide which one of their 10 pens or pencils they want to use to date the log.

Look at your status bar at the bottom of your browser while you hover...you should see something like:

    Oh! Duh... :)

Don't feel bad, I didn't understand what they were trying to say, either. Mainly because the right-click thing doesn't work for me. But mouse-over works fine, and I see the info in the bottom status bar, now that they clarified where to look. I'm 94792. Thanks, folks!

One other thing about this UserID, if you use GSAK that number is what you enter to let GSAK know which caches are the ones you own. It's more accurate than using your geo-name.

Very interesting there 287587 and kinda fun mousing over all the different users on the forums. :anicute:
