  1. It's a tough choice. I own so both so I'll give some of my personal experiences. I believe if you are mainly going to geocache the Colorado is the unit for you ( I'm going to assume you get a unit that works, I'm on my third so to be fair I'll keep those comments separate ). I at this point mostly use it for outdoor activities like hiking, quading, boating ect. In this case the 60csx has some advantages - being able to display multiple tracks - wavepoint averaging - distance measurement from current position - better water proofing ( they say there the same but in really) -a better reciever ( both high sensitivity but I've done several test's and 60scx better) - way better battery life - lighter display Colorado advantages -cool displays - all the geocaching functionality ( I don't do enough to comment but it sounds good) Hopefully most of the Colorado's short comings will be fixed with updates.
  2. I had some scrathches on a 60cs and ordered this 3 stage polishing system, oops, it got the scratches out but made the screen all cloudy, so make sure if you can do a test first.
  3. I just want to get a unit that actually works...............waiting for third unit in 5 weeks..........then I'll worry about the lack of features.
  4. I've had the fade away problem. Garmin told me to replace the unit, I'm moving onto my third colorado 300.........
  5. wow...........that's almost funny.........what were your main problems?
  6. 2 down 1 more to go. First Colorado would shut off when the right soft key was hit, garmin said it was a bad unit try a replacement. I've had the new unit for 3 weeks, I have to hard reset it about every 4-6 hours of use, Garmin said it was a bad unit try a replacement. hmmmmmmmm maybe someday I'll find a Colorado that works..........
  7. I had exactly the same problem, I called Garmin and they had know idea how to fix it so they logged it to be fixed. There was other problems and I ended up with a replacement unit so now I know not to use mapsource to transfer tracks. I'm running windows vista on a pc. good luck.
  8. Go into the trip computer, options, change data field and pick heart rate. Works great.
  9. sounds exactly like my first colorado (300). The Garmin guy talked me into a replacement unit......4 days in, so far so good.....I'm still nervous though.
  10. thanks I'll try that. Hopefully it doesn't happen often.............it's a real pain to reset everything.
  11. I just tried my two (60cs and 60csx) and as long as the declutter settings are the same the maps were basically the same.
  12. Thought I would give Garmin a chance and instead of getting my money back I thought I'd try a replacement unit. It worked for 1 day, now when I turn it on it goes dead after 10 seconds. Tried new batteries, resetting it.............nothing. ( the first unit did random shutdowns )
  13. Mine did it 15 times today alone, sometimes it was a button press, sometimes rotating the track wheel, sometimes nothing. Back to the box it goes............ snomchfun, did you have Full backlight turned on? I tried with it off, full and half. I had brand new batteries as well..........

  15. I think 3 Hawks was using a somewhat sarcastic mode to express support and sympathy for you and your situation. I don't believe any insult was intended to you, but rather to those who would do the insulting of you. No worries, I'm just dissapointed, I've owned Garmins since the beginning and this was a real let down. I'm sure they'll figure it out in time. When I talked to the Garmin guy he actually was quite sorry, I definately was not the only caller on this issue.
  16. Some of what you have dubbed "Garmin fan boys" would say you have unrealistic expectations, you enjoy complaining and seek out misery, you couldn't afford the Colorado in the first place, and you are stupid and lazy because you were not able to figure out how to use your Colorado. I, however, am sorry to hear your experience with the Colorado was not enjoyable and I thank you for having the courage to tell it like you see it. For those who love your Colorado, I couldn’t be happier for you. Then again, you are smart, rich, motivated, agreeable, perpetually happy, and truly accepting so you already knew I was happy for you. Well calling me stupid and lazy sure makes you sound like a "positive" person. I don't believe that problems like random shutdowns have anything to do with user error, the product is instable. Can you please restrict your opinions to the product and leave out the personal insults.
  17. Unfortunately I don't consider random shutdowns, poor very poor battery performance, an altimeter that fluctuates wildly an un-met expectation.
  18. backcountry aside I don't think it's too much to ask to have the device perform basic functions, it wasn"t actually free.....
  19. I may try one again in a year but wow is this a flawed device. I really tried to make it work but there's just to many major functional issues beyond the lack of features. Main issues I can't accept: 1) Random shutdowns 2) Very poor battery life 3) constant altimter errors 4) backlighting problems I unfortunately don't feel safe using this device in the backcountry. Garmin really dropped the ball, I hope to pick it up again someday...........back to my trusty 60csx.
  20. The problem is Ozi doesn't seem ackowledge the device (it is USB). I've used Ozi for years with several models of Garmin and this the first time I've seen it not work. I've emailed Ozi but no response. Just curious if anyone has been able to get Ozi to see the Colorado.
  21. Has anyone out there been able to get Oziexplorer to see there Colorado?
