  1. I thought about listing this one as well. I actually visited this virtual without logging it. (or posting a DNF ) I was on a 'special date' with my non-caching wife (I couldn't afford to bring the caching one as well. ) and on the way to the restaurant I mentioned that I'd like to stop by this virtual. Once we got there she said 'Okay you've seen it, let's go.' But, but, but…! (sigh) Yes, dear. I did find it, I just couldn't log it. Wow, I didn't even know this was a virtual! I saw this during the summer. I still have those pics somewhere... I'll have to log this.
  2. My favorite has to be Virtual New Mexico #4 Capulin Volcano Other inlcude: Meteor Crater Pike Never Made It!
  3. I started out with a Garmin GPS III Plus, and it just wasn't working for me. I've recently bought a Garmin eTrex Vista C, and love it. My only complaint: it is hard to make selections while mountain biking. Wish I would have known about the Garmin Edge.
  4. Knowing the types of winters you get in MI I'd think it'd crush an ammo box fairly significantly. Maybe if it were deep enough to stay below the freeze line in the water which to my understanding is several feet. I guess that will be the route to go then. The area I'm looking at has shelf-like layers of rock jutting out into the lake.
  5. An ammo can will survive the winter without trouble. You probably want to check on it before the first freeze to make sure that there is nothing in it that will freeze and damage the stuff inside the cache (pens, bubbles, etc). This might be a good time to smear a little grease on the rubber seal, also. Even with the water around it freezing completely?
  6. I'm planning on placing a cache underwater this summer, but am planning on testing a little first. I want to know if I'll have to remove the cache (decided on an ammo can) every winter. I'm almost positive the area it will be placed in will freeze completely. My personal guess is that it won't take the winter at all. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  7. When I click this, close the page, then open up Waymarking again, it does not stay clicked.
  8. I didn't know there was a category for these. Will have to go an mark the one nearby.
  9. Got my bronze pin today. Looks sweet, and I love it. Thanks for getting it sent out so quickly.
  10. Good job! The crazy thing is, I had tried this cache a while ago, and couldn't find it. Kind of frightening to think about it. Seems that cache is always missing some part to it...
  11. I'm just wondering if manager/officers of other catagories have noticed the same thing as me. My inbox is no longer constantly being flooded with email notifications to approve a waymark. Have others noticed that waymark submissions have gone down, or do you think this is just natural as the category begins to 'fill up'?
  12. Sorry, I thought you were saying that there were no Approve/Deny buttons on the bottom of the page.
  13. Go to the waymark page. On the right side, under waymark options, you should have a option "Approve/Deny Waymark"
  14. Underwater Geocaches Hope that helps!
  15. Is it just me, or all all Groundspeak email backed-up? Both Waymarking and Geocaching.
  16. Slot car racing was most popular in the 60's, but died down almost to the point of extinction. Recently more, and more commercial tracks have been opening. Slot car racing consists of a controller, slotted track, and a car with two contact points along a swiveling blade. The car is usually a scale model of real-life cars. Many 'home' sets can be found for sale online. Whenever we travel we used to try and lookup and find some slot car track, since there isn't one near here anymore. Eventually we just gave up on trying, since there isn't a very good listing, and they are hard to find. Having a Waymarking category may help those travelling, or some people might find one near them that they didn't know about before. If I could get some feedback and suggestions it would be appreciated. If there is some interest in helping me out I'll start up a group. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
  17. Try white erasers. That's what I use for most of my carved stamps. Sometimes white erasers are too small for the image I want to carve so then I use Nasco's Safety-Kut (I buy it online and have it mailed to me). It comes in a variety of sizes. The postcard size is handy, it can be cut it into smaller pieces depending on the size you need. Here's a link to the Safety-Kut catalogue page: http://www.enasco.com/artsandcrafts/Produc....do?sku=9704655 Also, here's a nice chart that goes over some of the more popular carving mediums (including white erasers and Safety Kut): http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/carving/how-to3.htm J.A.R.S. Thanks!
  18. My mountain bike is my wheels. More specifically it's a Trek Single-Track 930.
  19. I must say this is a very cool idea! I've been planning a letterbox hybrid for a while now, and I could do this for it. I may even get a custom cancellation stamp for it. Look for a new Geo-Post Office here in the UP!
  20. It cost me 50 cents for a rubber eraser and $6 for some carving tools to make my personal stamp. My wife bought a block of rubber stamp material for $4. I could make 3-4 stamps (depending on size) for that $4. You don't need to be Van Gough to make your own stamps. I have zero artistic ability so my stamp is very simple. The LBNA site has a good tutorial about making your own stamp. Thanks for the tutorial! If you don't mind me asking where did she get that block of rubber stamp? I already looked at a few places, but we don't have a craft store up here. Thanks!
