  1. Will someone please look at the html in my Personal Profile page and let me know how I managed to disable the hyperlinks for my e-mail address, Give a Gift Membership, and See the Forum Posts for This User? Thanks in advance, Ragfoot
  2. I notice that the other example given... PBS Dinosaur Train Geocaching series also fails to have the Partnership attribute. Seems like a useless attribute if no one is going to use it.
  3. Awesome, Thanks a lot! I didn't care so much for myself, but I made the drive because my friends had never been anywhere that there were lab caches and I wanted them to have the opportunity to "earn" the new cache type.
  4. Last night, 'WELCOME TO GEOCACHING LABS' page listed Earth to Echo Adventure - Los Angeles. Last night, after clicking on that link it listed 'TIME REMAINING TO ENTER FIND CODE' as 2d and some hours. This morning, I picked up a couple of geocaching friends and drove 400 miles to the 4 adventure locations and discovered the unlock codes. This evening, I get home and try to log them... THE LINK IS GONE!!???!! How did more than 2 days disappear in less than 24 hours? Not a happy camper right now.
  5. I am also still having that problem. For the last couple of days, if I click on Geocaching.com Map from ANY cache page, I get the page that a map should be on, with no map and no caches. And, like the previous poster, clicking on the left side bar does nothing. UPDATE... I turned off GC Little Helper and the map is working again. Perhaps that's where the problem is?
  6. No, I do not run Internet security software or any other software that periodically clears cookies from my computer. (note that I was still logged into the forum when I "woke" the computer) My browser is not set to purge cookies when shut down and I always have a dozen browser windows open at all times (mostly geocaching.com windows). I'm using Firefox 16.0.1 and the only time it gets shut down is when I'm required to reboot the computer due to Microsoft updates (and it normally remembers all of my open windows on restart). I never log out of geocaching since I am the only one using my devices. BTW, I have been having the problem on both my laptop and my desktop computers. I cleared the cookies and cache from both machines yesterday. My desktop computer did NOT require me to log in again this morning. I don't know if it matters, but just noticed that I am running Firefox 15.0.1 on that computer. But, it is my laptop that I am using to respond and was still logged into the forum.
  7. So, last night before going to bed, I put my laptop to sleep. This morning I woke up my laptop, checked my mail, then went to a geocaching.com window that I had open from yesterday and chose to change a map view. I ended up with a blank screen. So, I went to another open geocaching.com window that I had open to a different map and clicked on one of the cache icons. The cache page opened and I was invited to "join now to view geocache location details. It's free!" Is clearing browser cache and cookies something that needs to be done daily? BTW, I was still logged in to the forum.
  8. <sheepishly admits> No, I had not cleared that stuff. Never have in 34 years of being on-line. I didn't want to do it since I lost my browsing history also, but it DOES seem to be working correctly now and if I only have to do it every 30 years or so, I guess it won't be that bad. <grin>
  9. I've also been having this annoying problem for a while now so finally checking the forums for a fix. I'm guessing there isn't one yet. I can stay logged in and move from page to page for a while, but if I get a mail notification and click a link to visit a page from the notification, then I am required to log in again. So I log in again, view the page, perhaps look at it on a map, then go to my next e-mail. Click the link in the e-mail and I have to log in again. For the last weeks, I have probably logged in 30 or 40 times a day. This has never been necessary in the previous years that I have been a member. Is anyone looking into this?
  10. Here's the official statement regarding the naming of this new "cache type" (from another thread): (bolded by me) Didn't all virtuals require posting the coordinates so that you could locate it by using a GPSr? This is a real break-out for Groundspeak in that they now encourage NON-location based experiences.
  11. Please stop asking! Your wish has already been granted (perhaps at the next website update). Agreed. So much for bringing back virtuals without bringing back their problems. What's this got to do with geocaching? Please move it to another site like Waymarking. Virtuals are great. They actually involve you going somewhere specific and learning something you would otherwise miss. Challenges are not "bringing back virtuals" but rather bringing back Locationless caches, which, let's face it, sucked. The new "Challenges" feature on geocaching brings back exactly the problem that was solved when the Waymarking website was created. I completely agree that in their current state Challenges need to be moved to Waymarking.com. HOWEVER, I have actually completed one of the older challenge caches and have started attempts on a few others. I think Challenges are great, if performed correctly. The "Hug Your Dog" challenge is not performed correctly. Of course, the old rules on posting a Challenge cache specifically directed the poster to create something challenging (go figure), the new feature does not have any real rules in the FAQ. This can be solved by directing all those Premium Members to the proper resources before allowing them to submit a new Challenge: Everyone should be required to read this info on Challenge Caches So... Using groundspeaks example of "Kiss a Frog", I think that we can safely forget about any requirements of making it a "challenge".
  12. I have completed quite a few GEOCACHING CHALLENGES and I am still trying to complete a couple more. Now, when I look at my "stats", I see that I have not completed ANY GEOCACHING CHALLENGES. I referred back to the home page at geocaching.com and the FIRST paragraph that I read is "Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online" Please explain what "kissing a frog" has to do with GEOCACHING.
  13. Add me to the please bring back the actual log date. What's up with the "challenges"??? These need to be put on some other web site, not geocaching.com! I was led to believe that the use of a GPSr was a prime requirement for things on this site.
  14. Yep, I just checked my Spam folder and found 22 messages from Geocaching [noreply@geocaching.com] received over the last two days.
  15. Yes, I am experiencing the same problem. I have had 3 new caches published in the last two days. I DO receive the published notifications, BUT even though those 3 new caches have each been found half a dozen times, I have NOT received an e-mail notification announcing the finds!
