  1. Glad everyone liked it! It was an excellent day. I'm sure Peter Jackson will be on the phone begging me to direct The Hobbit when he sees this Simply Paul, feel free to link to it... How about a London pub event for the premiere screening of the longer version. It won't be *that* good, but any excuse for beers....?
  2. We did see some Black Riders near Mount Doom, but riding scramblers instead of Fell Beasts!
  3. At the recent Carry on Camping event, House of Boo, Sparticus,Rutson and myself tackled the epic multicache "Quest for the Ring of Power" I've edited together a two minute trailer video of our exploits, enjoy! Ring of Power Trailer (320x240, 13Mb)
  4. I'll be working on a video documenting the "Quest for the Ring of Power" cache this week which should be amusing. I'll post a link when it's done.
  5. The campsite owner was a little, erm, difficult. HofB got it all smoothed out, but not before the "evil witch" moniker had stuck!
  6. Fantastic event, well done Peter (aka Samwise Gamgee), Jo (Eowyn) and Boo (Gollum!). Although Peter enjoyed the title "Disorganiser", these things don't "just happen" and they did a sterling job in creating a relaxed and friendly event. I believe Jo has A-Levels in Witch Diplomacy too. Given a few more days maybe she might even have got the evil campsite owner into geocaching
  7. Well done Rutson, it was pleasure to tackle Quest for the Ring with you!
  8. This was my first TB, so I made a special effort... And here's a fun one for HofB's "Doughnut"!
  9. Just spoke to Peter on the phone, it all sounds fantastic, I can't wait to get there now! Is anyone else going to the event planning on doing Quest for the Ring? If you are add a message to the thread to let Peter know what time you think you'll be arriving. As it's easily a two-day cache, getting a start on Friday will be a good plan to avoid disappointment!
  10. Not to worry, me and my mate Marcel Marceau will be up until the early hours pushing against invisible glass and floating around the campsite holding balloons ordinary folk can't see.
  11. Woo hoo I can't wait. I'll probably be arriving Friday afternoon, possibly early evening.
  12. I enjoy taking pictures for TB missions, and it's nice to get appreciative replies from people who are getting used to the mission being ignored. My one and only TB is one that requests pictures. Early days, but so far so good - whenever he is picked up I message the cacher thanking them for picking him up and that I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of his adventures. I think that when you know the TB owner is taking an interest you're more likely to play along.
  13. Oh don't worry all the good stuff will be retained, I'll be working closely with Gary (Inukshuk) on this and I think he'll most likely remain involved in the new look mag...
  14. I misread the edge of the coin as "ELIZABETH II NUDE 2001" **shudder**
  15. you really shouldn't poo-poo ideas like this. no, wait....
  16. Actually I should be clear that I'm offering to host the site and create a way of making it easy for anyone to manage the publishing of new articles. Whilst I could perform some sort of editorial role, I doubt I'll have the time to make a really good job of it. It's nice to see some encouraging words from readers here, but what I'd really like to see is whether anyone would be prepared to write for it? There's a number of things that could be done: * caching reports for the more epic expeditions * equipment reviews * opinion pieces, e.g. landowner permissions * how-to articles Anyone fancy writing? Even just one article? It's likely I'll forge ahead with this and try to solicit more definite responses for particular articles, but if anyone is thinking "yeah, I wouldn't mind writing", then speak up!
  17. I've offered to assist Gary in a full-on makeover of the magazine. I'm prepared to host it and redevelop the site, focussing more the "cache reports" and editorial articles. I liked the cache reports of the magazine, it's great to read tales of some of the more epic caches (I'm looking forward to Quest for the Ring at next months Carry on Camping Event) Is anyone interested in writing for such a site? Telling tales of your caching exploits, or perhaps writing opinion pieces?
  18. Moooooon river, wider than a mile...
  19. Good suggestion, I've modified the script. To install or update, right click this link and choose "Install User Script". A dialog will appear showing the script name and the pages it will modify - to confirm you want to install, you must click the button with "OK" written on it. If after reading the dialog you decide you do not want to install the script, click the button with "Cancel" written on it, which can be found just next to the button with "OK" written on it.
  20. I meant to reply to this earlier but got sidetracked....my better half is an "Avon Lady" and informs me she's fairly sure Skin-So-Soft "Soft and Fresh" is the same as "Forest Fragrance" just repackaged and renamed. The dry oil body spray (which is the best for use as a repellent) is normally £5, but this month is 3 for £6. If you don't have an avon lady my enterprising missus will post you a three pack for £8 inc p+p (email me at lordelph at gmail.com if you want to take her up on this once-in-a-lifetime offer!!) Ding dong!
  21. There's plenty of geocachers that are geograph-ers, but I believe you may be the first to cross over from 'graphing to 'caching! Welcome!
  22. Just to clarify, my greasemonkey extension is not a robot or scraper, since it uses what your browser is already presenting to you. No additional requests are made, and no information is stored in a "non-gc.com" retrieval system. While it would be possible to write a GreaseMonkey extension to add new gc.com features which *did* break the T's & C's, this isn't one.
