I agree with the posters that suggest a rescue dog. I have a rescued american pit bull terrier that is a great caching companion. She's always ready for a good time. She has lots of energy for activities but is mostly a couch potato indoors. And she has short hair so she doesn't shed very much compared to our lab/newf mix. There are so many great dogs out there in shelters and rescues just waiting for a home.
