Buying Geocoins from USA and Import Duty?
The Klever Boys replied to hobgoblinkiteflier's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
This generally hinges on how and what has been entered on the CN22 customs label filled out by the sender. Assuming that the article is described as 'goods' and has a value of less than £135, you are liable for Import VAT charge (at the current UK VAT rate) for anything over £18 in value by the Customs people. Also, be aware that you will also attract a nice £8 admin fee in addition to the VAT owed for board and lodgings for your parcel until you collect it (you have 3 weeks in which to do so). Basically it's all down to how the Customs label has been declared by the sender, but I have been asked to pay £10 for a £2 VAT charge, but have had numerous parcels that have got though without being picked up at all, so often luck of the draw.. -

I'm seeing the same. A PQ that was generated today is suddenly "not available". Thinking I may have accidentally deleted it, I re-ran it via the "Copy" feature and although I had a notification it had ran, it's not there for download. The problem is that I have now almost reached my 5 for the day and still don't have anything..

Coin Activation Code Retrieval Problem
The Klever Boys replied to The Klever Boys's topic in Trackables
Yep, and for the record, I bought the coins from a site that does not give you the option of retrieving the codes from there and actually points you to the Groundspeak web site, so I wasn't trying to get them "the lazy way". At the time of posting I was unaware that other had problems too (hence my post) and I was wondering if it was something affecting just my account. In any case, if the feature is provided, you'd kinda expect it to work wouldn't you (or at least be disabled if it was a known problem and would take a while to fix)? -
The Mega Wales, Welsh Slate Geocoin
The Klever Boys replied to Eclectic Penguin's topic in Trackables
Really nice coins. I'd be in for a Prince of Wales Feathers at least. Thanks, Russ -
Nice looking coins. Can I ask whether they will have a unique icon - if so, will it be per coin, or shared across the set? Thanks, Russ

We once found one half of a torn cloakroom ticket (which had been left in trade for a padlock and key, according to the logbook). That person still caches too!

Coin Activation Code Retrieval Problem
The Klever Boys replied to The Klever Boys's topic in Trackables
Many thanks everyone. I'll email the codes through if it's not resolved shortly, but unlike others haven't had a problem grabbing the codes until a few days ago. Thanks again, Russ -
Hi, I'm trying to retrieve a couple of activation codes via the feature on the Geocaching.com website, but keep getting the error below: An Error Has Occurred [We cannot retrieve an activation code for this trackable at this time.] Reasons:*User have exceed hourly activation code requests limits. Please wait before making additional request. This has been happening for a couple of days now and this is the first time I have retried today, so can't have exceeded my "quota" (not that I knew there even was one!) Anyone else having similar problems? Thanks, Russ

5/5 got it sorted..or have I?
The Klever Boys replied to Geobuzzbee's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
You might want to edit and post your original question (which I did see earlier) so that people can understand what you are really referring to. IIRC, you maybe were querying how the difficulty settings should be applied to clues within stages of a multi? -
Geocoins relating to U.K. and Ireland.
The Klever Boys replied to Lactodorum's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
As Bear and Ragged mentions, it is indeed possible to get them from over here in the UK, but I have found that you usually end up paying more for some reason. I have ordered the Somerset coin, along with two Compass Rose 2010 coins directly from Coins & Pins at a total cost of just over $38, including handling, shipping, etc. That works out at around £24-25 for the three. I bet you will struggle to get any of these in the UK for less than £9.99, and I suspect the Compass Roses will be even more. This also doesn't take into account any postage that might apply. I buy a lot of coins, and would love to get them from over here, but get put off having to pay more, get them slower and a number of coins sell out and if you don't pre-order them, you won't ever get one! Hazard--Perry County Tour III Geocoins
The Klever Boys replied to Kentucky Trio's topic in Trackables
Mike, I may be interested in some, but the stumbling block was always payment. Are you able to accept something like PayPal at all please for a UK order? -
The "Easter Geocoin Bunny" also did that and I also know of the "Geo_Leprechaun" who has visited these shores in 2007/8. Also, we have the Highland Geofairy: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3829469

They do appear here, although not that many. In fact, I have placed some myself on behalf of a contact over in the US - the last ones being earlier this year.

What to do if cache coordinates are wrong?
The Klever Boys replied to jammie*dodger's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Me too, whenever I can. It's not good when the co-ords are out, but I do try to help the next finders by noting some accurate co-ords rather than just saying they are inaccurate! -
Who has found the most caches in a day?
The Klever Boys replied to coyspurs's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I understand a group of three people have claimed to have found 1156 caches in 24 hours along Nevada State Highway 375 today. Hmmm...that's an average of one cache every 1min 15 sec for the whole day, which appears to takes some doing when you think you've got to drive to each, get out, find it, each sign the log, replace and drive on... -
GSAK FindStatGen Counties Map
The Klever Boys replied to Cornell Finch's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Is there a problem with the UK county maps at the moment? I've updated my PQ this evening and ran the GSAK macro that has worked fine for some while now, but it fails to produce the UK county map. Looking at the profiles of others that have posted in this thread doesn't show any UK maps either, so not sure if it's just me or not... Russ -
As you haven't found many coins, you still might be able to do this without contacting the owner. Go to the cache you dropped it in and click on the coin and try to retrieve it. In the box where you need to type in the coin's number, enter 'CS' (without the quotes). The number of this coin will start with that, and if you're lucky, your browser will have retained the full code for the coin. Worth a try! Russ
