I also use my iPad and can't wait when the app will be native to the iPad. I would also like to be able to use it in landscape mode.
  2. I agree 100% w/RebelGTP. We go after alot of older caches on Saturday and I don't log them until Sunday night after hubby leaves for work. If we happen to go after a FTF that was posted on Sunday, it's not logged until I post all my Saturday finds and I don't OWE anyone an online log or note that it has been found. It's the game of finding it. I don't get in any huff that I'm second to find or third to find. I just dance the dance that we were able to find it. If the FTF hounds are in a huff over it - then they are caching for the wrong reasons (Just my own opinion).
  3. Yesterday, I put out 2 new caches. I have notifications turned on to send as a text message to my phone. This evening I got ONE text message stating there was a new geocache in the area. It was mine. I went to my computer and noticed BOTH of mine were turned on. I also noticed I got the normal email from geocaching.com stated that the Iowa reviewer posted both. I didn't get my 2nd text message until 2 hours later telling me of a new geocache. Wew, glad it was mine and it had already been found as well. Why didn't I receive a new cache message until 2 hours later? Is there a problem and how many others have I missed.....
  4. Thanks much! We’ve checked and rechecked our finds via the GSAK macro and we haven’t found any problems with them. We know that a lot of people completed the challenge around the same time and he had a lot of checking to do. I just got worried once a few weeks passed after his Sept 20th post and still didn’t hear anything and couldn’t get any response via the only two ways we knew how to contact him (via geocaching.com & direct email address that we received from him to send our gpx file to) and noticed that the others got their ok to start finding. We know that he is well respected and is very involved in the geo-community and just didn’t know how else to contact him. We do not want this post to turn in to anything negative against him or any CO! It’s a lot of work to keep up the caches and we wouldn’t have any thing to do without all of you.
  5. I will try to do that - post another note - BTW: I emailed him originally that I needed his email address so that I could send the GPX file - which he did email me back so I had his personal email as there is no way to send a file via geocaching.com that I could see. Since then no response - I've emailed him both ways - through Groundspeak as well as the personal email he sent me and have received no responses from either one - which is why I'm frustrated. but I will post another note and hope that it takes care of it. thanks for all your help all!
  6. I've had this happen just this weekend - I use GSAK - I changed the name of the file to be uploaded. It seems to like it without spaces and shorter names - it worked the 2nd time when I changed the name. See if that helps
  7. I have checked that as well - I have his email in my "ok list" and I've clicked not to delete any spam so that I can also view all the spam.
  8. You are correct - it was not a PQ that I sent but a generated GPX file from another program with just the eligible finds as stated from the requirements, but I will take the time to create a bookmark list as well and see if that helps. Thanks!
  9. We completed a full state challenge this summer and we can't get the CO to give us the coordinates to the final. I know that he was bombarded by alot of them coming in at the same time; but he has been giving out the coords to all the other finders that have found it before, during and after we sent in our PQ. I've emailed and have asked if there was anything wrong in verifying our finds - but I can't even get an email response on this one way or the other. What can we do - it's very frustrating as it was a great personal accomplishment for us and we'd like to get it completed before winter hits as its a 50 mile or so drive away and we are holding off on getting other caches it the area so we can make a day of it. I've been told by co-workers just to post it as a find - but I can't do that cuz we haven't found it yet - but I'm getting temped edit - did not send a PQ, but did send a gpx file as stated in the listing of just the qualifying caches.
  10. But it's not really broken. I'd like to see find counts marked "private" first. I suspect some people do it because they don't want everyone to see them as a noob. If you gave them a choice, they might choose privacy over bogus counts. I would love it to be private as well as well as the caches I visit - find my logs via looking at caches is okay - but whose business is it to look at my find list and see where I've been.
  11. Could this be fixed by only allowing one "find" log per GC#?
  12. It's a highly controversial practice that is dying a slow death due to peer pressure. The only places in the entire world where it still takes place on that kind of scale is Western Pa., West Virgina, Ohio, and Wisconsin. (Don't ask me why the "gap" between Ohio and Wisconsin). If you ever go to a large outdoor event in Ohio, expect to see over 100 attended logs per person. Just do what you think is right. Which I see you already have. My part of the woods are in the #'s game as well (Iowa) - They set up a perm. cache called "logger" or whatever and you use that one to log the perm. find as well as log over and over again all the temp finds to bring your #'s up! Just look up the recent events in Iowa and you will see notes about how to log the temp finds which I thought was weird While they are there looking for all the temp finds that someone 20 feet in front of them just found, hubby and I are deep in the woods miles away geocaching for real! JMO - If you pay too much attention to the #'s then you aren't caching for the right reason - family time and exercise and the great outdoors!
  13. Many Thanks! That's even the site I had once visited but didn't remember them being that cheap. I don't need 30 but I can always sell off the surplus. Good deal. Here's a place for same price for 30; but 9.95 for 15! http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/product/1367
  14. Add Me to the list . Just ran two PQs and no logs and no TBs. Was hoping to get a run ready for early tomorrow morning and love to use them to wipe out the DNFs!
