  1. From past accounts online, the author Joe Haldeman usually makes it to the Winter Star Party. You might keep an eye out for him.
  2. It's been a while since I've cached with multiple teams, but when I did the success call was "Bingo".
  3. My Palm III just took a leap of death and I replaced it for $25 with an m125. Took me a bit to get everything set up for the new Palm and have yet to take it out caching, but it's loaded and ready to go.
  4. Watchdog2020, I did the same thing. An 1897 Morgan City Silver Dollar in my puzzle cache: Slavonic Dances. FTF took less than 24 hours.
  5. I placed my first puzzle cache with a FTF prize of an 1897 Carson City Silver Dollar. I've got a nice roll of them to distribute as I create caches I think worth putting one in.
  6. 1897 Morgan Silver Dollar. In my cache Slavonic Dances. I'll probably be using more of them in future caches.
  7. My setup for my Garmin Blue Legend, Palm IIIxe and G5 Mac: USB-Serial cable Serial GPS cable Serial PDA cable CacheMate for the PDA Mac SimpleGPS Premium membership at geocaching.com I grab the zip files that come in through email, unzip them, open them in cachemate and "send" to the PDA. I connect the GPS to the Mac, make certain that the PDA hotsync communication is not turned on, open the gpx files in Mac Simple GPS and send all of the waypoints to the GPS. Disconnect the GPS, connect the PDA, turn on the HotSync communication and select hotsync on the PDA. It spends some time syncing, depending on how many pqs I sent to the PDA and then I'm ready to go.
  8. I have a small grove of bamboo in my backyard. If someone's willing to pay shipping/packing, I could get you what you're looking for.
  9. Cool, another Zelazny fan! Unfortunately, I don't game in the Amber universe, though. I just collect his books. Good luck! My Zelazny site
  10. mtn-man, From your sig line It is not obvious that you are a cache approver. It's obvious that you approve trades, whatever those are.
  11. My cousin's down in Antartica at the moment. I might have to email him and see if there's a GPS anywhere around.
  12. Santa Fe is also a town in Southeast Texas. I thought the get together might be in my backyard.
  13. Just received my emergency tubes and stencils. The wife found them the tubes, as I forgot to put them up before she got home. So she found one of her xmas presents. On the upside, she says I need to order more. I need to find out how many. Thanks for the quick service!
  14. The same problem exists for me (Houston), so it's a system-wide problem and not confined to a small geographic area.
  15. I'd like to see that on hides likely to take, say, more than 15 minutes or so.
  16. Where does one find this? http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts...tedesktopclient
  17. My Mac, a G5, does not need VPC to communicate with my Legend. The cable that came with the unit, a USB to serial cable and gpswrite and link2gps are sufficient for my purposes. I am, however, trying to find something that will modify the gpx files to use smart names instead of the usual waypoint code.
  18. As a lifelong resident of the area and a new cacher, here are a list of some in the area that might fit your specs. High and dry by Neo76 (GCB7AF) There are a number of caches in this park. Depending on when you come into town, the one below might be available. There's an air show this weekend and it might be temporarily disabled because of the odds of muggling. 19. I ordered a Legend from them recently and have been satisfied so far. I'm working on getting a UPC code for their rebate (the box went in the trash before I claimed the code). I'll submit it for the rebate and see what happens. I bought it through their website and not through ebay. The lady in customer service with whom I've dealt has been pleasant and responsive.
