  1. More than happy to drop in NORTHERN IRELAND. Just drop a line, anytime you want! (:
  2. Seventeen here, but with fifty-year-old parents on occasion, because they're mad hikers and as big as kids as I am! Like everyone else has said before, I figure the majority are quite a bit older. I know for a fact that the few friends I've described this game to seem to have grown out of the "Scavenger Hunt" phase of life.... I like seeing people my age caching- just wish there were more !
  3. Just though I'd post up here as a lurker aswell, since there really is no particular reason that I don't post. I suppose it's simply because I'm intimdated by all you "ol'-timers", despite the fact that most the threads I have read, everyone seems lovely. Maybe my view comes from the thread I just arrived here from that was complaining about how much geo-caching has changed over the years, and the question was asked: Is the the fault of the new-comers? Needless to say, my ideas of placing a cache (the many ideas, which I thought were actually decent enough!) have been ditched and I don't see myself laying any until I get into triple-figure finds atleast. Being the only person I know who geocaches in my family, and indeed what seems to be in Northern Ireland as a whole (any "Norn Iron-ish", please stick your hand up for me!), and having zero time as a student to go geocaching, I simply feel like I've nothing important to add (which is true!) and will be shunned. It's a shame because I do actually want to meet people who geocache, and you do get a fair bit of a community feel around here, but oh well. Just imagine these hundreds of lurkers suddenly started posted.. And remember, we're the ones who have read all your secrets, so treat us nicely!
  4. Because I'm afraid of getting addicted to World of Warcraft if I ever get tempted to try it... And it's pretty much the same thing, right? (:
  5. Yeah, that's helpful. It was just when I was looking to nick an iPhone from America, it was under half the price as an iPhone over here, but just when I was about to send away for one, I was told that the American iPhones worked under a totally different system to the English ones and impossible to use here. And I know GPS' are nowhere near similar to phones (duhh ) so I was just checking that the case wasn't the same. So they do work everywhere in the world no matter where you buy them? I heard most people download maps from talkytoaster aswell so was prepared to have to do the same rather than use whatever comes with the darn thing.
  6. haha, these are all truly AMAZING! i've only started and just been lucky enough to find tupperware containers. tempted to start hiding my own (not tupperware) caches, but do you think some of these are just a bit mean? i mean, is there a point when you go and make one that's just too hard to find?
  7. Hi there! So I'm new to geocaching and from the UK. I'm looking to keep it up long term, so I've been searching about for a good GPS. I've ended up on amazon looking at the Garmin Oregon 200, and noticed a twist. On amazon.COM it costs $245.42, and on amazon.CO.UK it costs £202.20. A relatively big difference, and by using American contacts, I can get it sent over relatively cheap I believe.. The only question I have is will an American-bought GPS work in the UK? It so far looks like it will from researching my arse off, but does anyone know for certain that UK maps can/not be put onto an American GPS..? It's a bit of a stupid question, but I'd be even thicker to buy one off .com without checking it out first when I nearly bought an American iPhone before realising it would work dfferently from the English ones. Thank you! Jeannine.
