  1. On your pocket query page....all the way at the bottom of your existing queries, is a "my finds" button. It can only run once every three days Hit that button that says "add to queue" It adds to your queue so if you already have five queries running for today you'll have to wait till tomorrow
  2. I hear ya. I had a decal in my old car. Zoom zom zoom TB. My car got traded in, and the decal went with it. I was bummed!! But truth be told, that bug belonged with that car. II just ordered a new one...for the new car! A few things. You get 2 decals when you order. You don't have to put both on your car. Also you get a tag with it. For my old car now I can release the travel bug into the world. My new car I'll just place one decal on the back. As far as decal versus cling is concerned, I think the clings are difficult to read and look tacky. I've seen quite a few clingy bugs at mega events and I could barely read them.
  3. In relation to the user voice forums. Were you on there much? I was, and understood what he means... They couldn't then, nor now, devote the time and energy to EVERY single complaint, request, improvement that came their way. But, c'mon. You don't really think that the same lackey(s) that works on every new idea is the same 'one' that programs/fixes, etc, do you? They can do both. And we need the to do both. Companies need to grow, adapt, change..... Anyway. This thread is about lab caches. If you don't like their existence, then no need to respond to the thread, eh?
  4. Also....pretty please don't use your iPhone to do so! I'm VERY pro-iPhone, but if you haven't found many caches with it then you don't know how to use it as it relates to geocaching...
  5. Pretty please find some caches first? Like around 100... How do you know what makes a good cache if you've never played the game?
  6. Well then, you are in a great location for caches!! Any cache by goblindust is amazing. If you do them, please remember that all other caches will not be so fantastic! I'd read the cache pages first. Many of his caches require you bring something,,,,marble, straw....etc Welcome!! And thank you for your service!
  7. Whereabouts in wa state? Bremerton?
  8. Ahh. Well, tell us about it! Look for low Difficulty caches, larger containers, recent finders.... On the website, there is a spot to "check for beginner cache". Seek these. Don't be afraid to post here for helpful tips, or even emailing the cache owners and asking them for help! Yesterday, I had 4 finds, and 8 DNFs. EIGHT.
  9. Me too. The whole PM thing has a bit of a learning curve. Caches along a route, PQs, bookmarks... I'd wait until you're ready to know how to use these things before shelling out the $30 Full app first. PM in a few weeks or so...
  10. Yes. Please find some more caches (like, a least one, but preferably around 100) before hiding your own, and take some time to review the guidelines. As it is, each and everyone of us can now armchair that virtual that you found. Play the game for a while, figure out how it works, and then consider hiding your own cache-->WITH accurate coordinates
  11. We jeeped a lot in S Az. Lots of dirt, rocks, canyons, ...cactus! I would go with a Garmin 60CSx. It's been my favorite so far (out of 2, lol) but man did I abuse that thing! It could drop off a hill and into a creek and it could still survive. Hard core it is... Find one on eBay. Have fun!!!
  12. Have you realized that many cachers who have no cache hides take part in geocaching discussions? While I have hidden some caches and helped with hiding caches that are not owned by me, I definitely spend more time with searching caches and this will be true for most cachers. The way lab caches are set up will influence how many of them exist in a certain area and how they will look like and whether I will like to go for them. So I cannot see a reason why I should a priori have no interest into the topic. Cezanne It's not about hiding caches, per se. But you must be a PM to hide a lab cache. Soi t would be the same thing as being opposed to us asking for a PQ limit change, or being angry about the 'caches along a route' feature. If you are not a PM, then there's even MORE reason to take the 'ignore-it-if-you-don't-like-it" advice.
  13. Yep, we are definitely paying attention. I attended a meeting today where the confusion surrounding this was discussed. They are, or you are? I rarely see any lackeys posting on the forums, other than yourself. Do they even look in the forums, or is it just you? That's her job. We can't have every lackey checking the forums. She checks and relates back. Iamageobug, do you in fact have the intro app or the full paid app? Either way, log out and log back in to make sure either app knows you're a PM now.
  14. Yes Distance and bearing Since I'm often caching in the woods, I rarely look at the sat map....it's useless. Trees, trees, trees, At about 100ft...I put the iPhone away and start looking. Go hawks!!! Super Bowl champs!!! You know, I slightly misunderstood your question (must have been Super Bowl euphoria). I read it as sat map vs compass. I had forgotten that in the woods I exclusively use OSM/OCM. The cycle maps actually provides the trails.
  15. No. The majority of us have read allllll of these pages and responses before posting If you did, you'd see your responses make no sense (respectfully speaking). Because we covered and resolved all that, and because we've all been striving as a group to find realistic ways to improve the app, and help newbies assimilate into our geocommunity. We're on your side here...
  16. Ditto. imo, the compass is less reliable than the map the closer you are to the waypoint. Much easier to watch your estimated position as you move and mentally 'estimate' your actual position relative to the waypoint visually, until you're satisfied (to whatever your personal preference is) to put the device away and start looking So the same data, with it's "inaccuracy", displayed in a different way is more reliable? Why "mentally 'estimate' your actual position to the waypoint" when you can see an arrow pointing right to the waypoint with distance listed? I use a hybrid often, the map (for trail map) with two data fields: pointer and distance. BTW, do you use 'North Up' or 'Track Up' on the map? North up 'always' on my 62s almost always north up on the iPhone except... Track up when I'm super close but I'm: under 100ft, have searched, have not found, and am now referring back to iPhone for assistance. Why mentally estimate my position? Why not! Yesterday I was caching. Trails were very twisty and narrow so I couldn't put the phone down at 100 ft as usual. So I kept it on until 75ft. Looked onward down the trail, estimated 75ft away, left my phone on in my pocket and walked towards the stump 75ft~ish away. Found cache immediately, looked at my phone, it stills said 45ft. If I'm just simply looking at my device, instead of actually looking around and estimating/guessing my location vs possible cache location, I would have overshot it. And yes, my Garmin does this too. Oh yes. (the 62s seems a bit better than the 60CSx fwiw.) Left my iPhones on the ground. Signed log. Replaced cache, looked at iPhone, said <20ft with 16 accuracy. I'd say I'm doing it right., so is my iPhone. Besides. I like estimating distances. It's like a fun side game for me.

  18. That was fun! I was able to complete it on my iPad, however not sure the last stage presented itself as it should. Only 100 miles on the dot away. Will hit it up up next time we cross!!
  19. For finding caches, putting the phone in your pocket at 20 or 30' from ground zero generally works well for most reasonably seasoned geocachers. But I'm thinking this method might not be very productive for folks who are hiding caches. Rather than bash someone who you assume isn't using his phone properly, perhaps you could share some tips? Until I read your post, I actually thought I knew how to use my Casio Gz'One for geocaching. But since my experience yesterday pretty much matched the person you were bashing, I suppose I could use those tips as well. I placed my very first cache in the woods, using my iPhone 3GS. I've had nothing but good remarks on cache accuracy and placement. I took several, several readings. But. Since then, just to be safe, and PC...and all that...I've used a Garmin to verify all other cache placements since. (All 2 of them!) I don't think telling someone that they don't know how to use their tool is a "bash" but perhaps I have a different tolerance level for 'bash' then most. (I am a nurse. I get bashed on a minutely basis...) Yes. Put your phone away Look around Use your common sense Find cache Easy There ya go Seriously. That's it,
  20. ] I opted out of the harassment training at work. I already know how to harass people, and I'm surprised people need training to learn how to do it. Seriously, I just spit my wine out on my iPad. Lol I've literally been told to tone down my "that's what she said"'s at work. Sheesh. This world...
