  1. Good post Thorin I understand the costs and needs associated with the site and all, and my excuse right now for not being a member is being too low on cash. Unfortunately I know several cachers in my area with the problem, although $30 is a pidly amount to pay for a whole year. Although we are planning on obtaining a membership to support our beloved sport Anyway back on topic... I would have to agree that the majority of people choose to either want the most possible logs in their cache, or to give good prizes out to those members before making the cache a members only cache. That would be my guess anyway, and I kinda feel the same way. I want everyone to enjoy my caches, and I want as many as possible to sign my logs, so when I do obtain membership the majority of mine, if not all will remain open to everyone. Just my take.
  2. Wow that's an awful thing to do. Takes a really messed up person to do that. Good luck with your placing of the cache at the cemetary ( ). Hope it goes well! You know I couldn't decide how to spell it, so I went off of posts above assuming they could spell, cause I can't. Oh well...
  3. I would probably leave off the full moon part, although I think a neat idea few would probably follow that. Or if you want only place the cache as available during a full moon. However before asking that they visit at night, I'd get in touch with some local officials or caretakers of the cemetary and ask, just to be on the safe side. Here there are hours posted on only one of the cemetaries, the city run cemetary. However I have been in the cemetary at night, going just before sunset once to show my mother a stone, and left after the posted closing sign, and during that time I saw a lot of people coming in and leaving the cemetary. I am not sure if it is illegal or not, but be on the safe side and ask. :-)
  4. We use the Get Out of Hell Free Cards from ghoof.com
  5. Wow, there's a lot more than I thought. There aren't any cemetery cache's here that I have come accross yet, and I would like to do some, so instead I'm hoping to place a few. Thanks again all!
  6. I hadn't planned on placing the cache IN the cemetery without permission and if I was able to get it it wouldn't be on or near a grave. I figured it would probably have to be outside the cemetary which is ok too. :-) Edit: Thanks for the search suggestion. I found an old topic on it and most everyone in it had good things to say about placing in cemeteries as long as it is tasteful, which I agree fully with. I think I will be placing a few caches in some of the cemeteries around here that I know are public, and ouside the privately owned ones, until I am able to obtain permission. Thanks again!
  7. That's great! Just take the excess from the one and move it to the one that had nothing left in it. I agree someone needs to learn to tell their little one no. Because we take our children (boy 10 months, girl 5 years) with us we limit the EXCHANGE to one or two items, we even have to leave without taking or leaving anything because we leave our goodybag in the car. Our daughter is dissapointed when this happens, but she just looks forward to the next cache (and reminding us to take the goodybag with us) The Bluetooth's
  8. I have an odd question... I am very interested in placing a cache in or around some of these smaller graveyards and cemetaries. I would love to do this to get others to visit these little known cemetaries. I really love visiting some of them during the summer time reading the headstones and histories with the cemetaries and the people burried within them. I would really like to do this, although I am afraid that others may find this disrespectful, which would be far from the intent. Any suggestions, ideas, or comments about this? I would appreciate any feedback!
  9. Well I tried to add the 60c to the Easy GPS but it has no option for it. Not sure why, but the Garmin 60c is not there... Oh well, I am going to break down and buy the adapter because the map software I have only downloads through serial as well... Thanks all! Lisa
  10. Thanks, I had installed Mapsource but hadn't tried importing into it after the first two programs I tried, because they didn't convert to the right file types. Thanks a lot, it worked!
  11. Hey all, I just bought a new GPS, the Garmin Vista C, got it today and am having a bit of trouble with it. I would like to download waypoints to my gps, I've tried easygps, swiss army knife, and several others but I am having a problem with all of them. My GPS uses a USB cable and not a serial. Is there anyway to avoid buying the adapter/converter? Maybe a different program I can use? I'd like any advice anyone has to offer. Thanks!
