  1. Hey the representive who introduced the bill is running for a senate seat, she might try to push it when she wins, or just forget about it.. [Edited by moderator]
  2. I say 23.75 a set...... and i know I'm the winner HaHaHa.
  3. Man I've been lugging around my old army map case bag for 2 years now, its got all my army patches on it and a geocaching patch in the middle , I hate to get rid of it , but i like the idea of a olive green vest with a geocaching patch on it, because i dont have a po cket for the digital camera i carry. What i do carry is my GPSNAVsMap, a pocket pc PDA, a Kodak Digital camera, a bag of handmade buttons, a bottle of water and a cell phone, i dont have room for anything else.
  4. I got a couple down here in Jasper County , South Carolina. Type in zip code 29936 you'll get 3 off the road in Ridgeland, SC 30 miles from Savannah, GA and Hilton Head Island, and Beaufort, SC where Parris Island Marine recruit Depot is . cpome on check these great caches Out.
  5. The people who use my name in any anti-geocaching campaign, better watch out, I believe the first admentment applys to us speaking freely, any taking this out of context is a pure violation of my freedom of free speech. I will submitt my home address and name so: you won't get it wrong, please write me if you have any problems, and I AM A SOUTH CAROLINA GEO-CACHER, AND A VETERAN, A EX-COP AND A FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AND DARN PROUD OF BEING A AMERICAN CITIZEN, NOW USE THAT OUT OF CONTEXT. ERIC BELLAND EMAIL : 99MADCAT@EARTHLINK.NET PO. BOX 1854 RIDGELAND, SC 29936
  6. Does anyone know of a simple form letter expressing the h3337 problem, to some out of state cacher, i would like to put something informative on 3X5 cards and stick em one of my caches, i just got about 10 hits in the last 2 days on a I-95 cache.
  7. I'm willing to change the naming of one of my local caches to a "Say No to H3777 cache" and willing to donate some money for any state efforts.
  8. Well I guess this gives us some time to promote geocaching to a wider audience, maybe get some city sponsers or corporation sponsers involved. i wish i could of been there, With the war going on its hard to get any time off from a government job. I proud to know someone was there.
  9. Thank you senator bryant, Did anyone get the list of the 50 so called churchs that refused to have caches on their property. I sent a e-mail to rep. cieps asking for a copy of it, Got no reponse.
  10. Freaking "tossedsalad" is rep. scarborough in disquise so watch out yall.
  11. I just dropped a letter to the governor, stating that this bill would violate my rights for the "persute of happiness", which is part of the United states Bill of Rights. I believe our senators and reps, and the governor are responsible to govern rules and laws to protect against violating my rights for freedom. This Bill is violating my "Government given rights for the persute of happiness" in what you do in everday life. Geocaching is a sport like hiking, boating , bowling, golfing. Not a illegal activity like computer hacking , game cocking, shoplifting, or black marketing. Rep. Ceips is doing this for votes on her next election, She has not been able to pass any bills during her term as Rep. for Beaufort county, yet she thinks this bill would give her some clout with the African-American communitys here. She might be get the votes but shes making us the scapegoats. I'm sorry I can't make the Meeting, I'm a lowly servent in the Bigger government.
  12. HEY EVERYONE I'M A NEW RACE CALLED A GEO-HUMAN, LIKE THAT I'M OMNI-RACIAL AND OMNI-POLITICAL SOME JOIN ME AS A NEW LIFEFORM WHO DOESNT NEED RACIAL BARRIERS OR POLITICAL STRIFE.................... I'M A GEO-CACHER AS A PROFESSSION, AND A GEO-HUMAN AS A PERSON.....WIDE WORLDY. HELLO!!!
  13. I'm looking at 24 months after this bill (hopefully not pass) passes, that we'll go on our merry old ways of geocaching, or when the Mrs. ceips gets booted, that i'll go back to geocaching as normal or less of normal. this law would be forgotten. like so many other stupid laws , Like its legal to hit your wife at 12 noon on thursday's on the courthouse steps in Jasper County. or the one about you could only keep 3 live gators in one pen at a time. I'm really thinking of going Pirate, develop a bunch of Sudoku versed pirate caches on a seperate blog page. Oh I need to shut-up. I live in Ridgeland, SC 22 miles north of Beaufort, Sc where all this started.
  14. Question: Does Groundspeak realize If geocaching is banned in South Carolina they would lose a whole bunch of money , when people start cancelling thier accounts. I probally would. Why are they not involved in all this??
  15. I have written, emailed, and called and left a message to my local senator, with no reply. I'm sick of all this, I'm moving all my caches over to georgia, or into my small 1 acre backyard, i'll set up a grill and a pick-nick table for cachers only.
  16. I use a pocket pc /axim with a cradle for my computer, all i do is save a cache page as a web page complete in a file i made up (geocaching) on the pocket pc, i have about 300 caches lined up, its good to have microsoft road maps on there too. I have been on vacation, where this was better than paper. I highly recommended it. mine cost about 200 dollars from dell.
  17. they say you can't fight city hall, well I wish you could have someone from the geocachers side to speak on this bill, is ms. cieps going to be in the senate pushing these lies to our senators?? I should just calm down, I live 15 miles from Savannah, GA and with all the Historic caches there, I'll just say skip SC and head on over to georgia. Is this bad !!? " question where are the so called indian mounds in SC. I'm 1/16 Ojibwa indian.
  18. I have a real life question, ok " who's going to enforce this law", I see no sheriff department sending out cops to arrest someone who put a cache on a historic spot, and basically is this going to be a "local" law, if so read if you are found in a cemetary "trespasing laws" the fine in jasper county is 250 dollars, with geocaching a state law it's 100 dollars Humm. I say again whos going to enforce it , is rep. cieps going to monitor all new caches ???, and call the cops on us.
  19. I was wondering if my cache in Ridgeland is allowed because you don't use a GPS in the historical sites http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...8a-381b3813ab78 its more like looking around town to find certain things. If this illegal please tell me. I might just quit this hobby, and take up golf.
  20. I bet yall some money this wont be heard today, they'll break for lunch after this bill.
  21. "That story about legislation in SC is almost as bad as what happened to me last September. Read my profile & bio at geocaching.com. I was arrested in Southern New Mexico by Homeland security for being a dope smuggler! All because I had my electronic toys while geocaching in the area of Columbus, NM. An area I have visited and frequented for many years! I had an Etrex Legend, a Garmin GPS-V, about $200 worth of topo maps, my laptop computer with a sattelite uplink, night vision scope, telescope, a $2000 mountain bike, and all my amatuer radio equipment confiscated because a rogue agent claims he had information from a confidential source that my "high tech" gear was used to smuggle drugs! I have never used or had anything to do with drugs......I just love the outdoors and my toys. Anyway back in March in federal court in Las Cruces NM I was trying to get things cleared up and my wife was testifying as to what geocaching was. The judge, my attorney and the US Attorney said they had never heard of Geocaching! They took a recess to research geocaching on the internet...........I am still without my gear, the laptop also had a GPS unit & software installed in it, and I am still waiting for a resolution on this matter before the court. I have to go back to New Mexico in a few weeks to fight with the government! It seems to me that a lot of people who do not know anything about the hobby choose to remain ignorant and in my case choose to try to criminalize a hobbythat has educational value. " Hey I'm sorry for this guys lost but , something like this could be used against us on this bill, hopefully you'll get everything back.
  22. aND WE WERE SO CLOSE, SHEESH I MIGHT BE GLAD THEY WON'T EVER HEAR THIS BILL, BUT I'M GETTING TIRED OF WATCHING THE HOUSE EVERYDAY
