  3. Help! Fellow Texans... I'm new to the sport (GeoCaching) and new to visiting our wonderful Texas Parks and Wildlife Reserves. So new that I almost got a ticket (did get a warning ticket) from a (friendly) Game Warden today. He informed me that I needed an APHL (permit) if I'm going to get out of my car for any reason. So lets see... I looked on the WEB and found that an APHL (license # 173) is $48.00 and another $65.00 for an annual Texas State Park Pass. If this is correct then I have no problem supporting our Park systems. But if there is a cheaper way, I would sure like to know. Thanks, TNL Kevin
  4. Same here. I usually wait until I feel I've exhausted all possibilities then highlight the hint area. Yep, ditto for me too... TNL
  5. Yes, that is a loaded question. The 'best' one is the one you feel most comfortable with, that will meat your requirements, and is in you budget range. They (PDAs) can range from $25.00 (eBay) to well over $600.00 (not including the latest models coming out). I know this doesn't help much, but you can use either Palm or Pocket PC PDAs to cache with. The 'best' one is up to you. I personally use an HP iPAQ 4155 with GpxSonar. Works great! But I also personally like Pocket PC better than Palm (just my choice). T-N-L
  6. Yep, I know what ya mean.... heehee Tread-n-Lightly
  7. Well, down here in Southeast Texas we just add a light jacket and if it gets really really COLD (32 - 35f), we might through on some gloves. But snow and ice, not where i live. We do enjoy the decrease in bugs and critters though. Tread-n-Lightly
  8. We wont even mention NOT bringing an extra set of car keys along to keep in your pocket when you are on that 150 mile FTF hunt, just in case... Oops, did I say that out loud Tread-n-Lightly
  9. I have the 60CS and can personally recommend the GILSSON antenna. I haven't used it enough to give in-depth details (battery usage, etc...), but I can tell you that it works great! It comes in 3, 6 or 9 foot lengths and it's really inexpensive. I don't use it too often because the 60CS's antenna works fine (so far). W5TTX
  10. Hook, line, and sinker... your in now!! Congrats! and good luck! W5TTX
  11. Yikes. Been there, still there. Get an auto-route and you'll calulate your way home from work. Aint that the truth! I find myself creating routes everywhere I go! Even to Wally-World! P.S. WAYPOINT YOUR CAR!!! W5TTX
  12. So if you were driving your car at the speed of light and turned your headlights on, what would happen??? W5TTX
  13. With my 60CS I usually average around 7 - 10 here in South-East Texas. I average around 5 - 8 in tree covered areas. I have the external antenna, but get so excited when I start out caching, I keep forgetting to plug it in W5TTX
  14. I prefer kuntry caches myself. Not as many people around. I will do city caches as long as they are in a park or the like. W5TTX
  15. Like New!! Purchased 8/19/2004 Meridian Gold in perfect condition. Also includes MapSend DirectRoute, 128mb SD memory card, and windshield mount (suction cup type).
