  1. This thread should probably be moved to the Geocaching.com Web Site forum. Not sure what anybody would have to gain by accessing GC accounts...nonetheless Groundspeak would probably be interested to see the email if you wanted to forward it to them at contact@geocaching.com
  2. I don't believe the OP ever said whether he was using "Remember me" or not so he could be seeing the same issue with editing cache pages that others are seeing entering logs. The fact he said he got logged out when simply browsing cache pages though (presumably without long periods of inactivity) would seem to point to cookies on his computer getting deleted somehow.
  3. Well sorry. I opened a page to post a log on a cache and typed in some text. I walked away for an hour and a half. I just came back, pulled the computer out of screensaver mode and clicked the button to log the cache page. The log went right through. I am still logged into the site. No problems what so ever. I just did similar tests on both IE 7.0 and Firefox 3.5. Before my tests though I logged out and logged back in making sure not to check the "Remember me" box. I started a log in both browsers and left them alone for just over an hour and then clicked submit. On both browsers I had been logged out and the log didn't go through. I've never seen that before since I've always used "Remember me" at both home and work. So there does appear to be a problem where if you don't use "Remember me" the site logs you out after some period of inactivity under an hour instead of when you close the browser. Interestingly, on Firefox when I hit the back button, the log text was still there...that wasn't the case with IE.
  4. Since lots of us are able to stay logged in for weeks or months at a time, that's likely due to a problem with your computer, not the site. Have you tried scanning for spyware? Tried clearing your cookies? Tried a different browser?
  5. Free up some space to make room for what? What's it hurting?
  6. As far as I know the only significant new feature is the ability to set it to refresh on demand instead of automatically. And apparently the refresh limit actually used to be 500 so that part isn't an improvement. The rest of the changes are stuff "under the hood" to make it use less server resources thus allowing it to be brought back.

  8. Here are a few of the most recent threads on the same subject: rating system for Geocaching.com GeoCache Rating System Rating or review for caches Top 10 Rating System Rating cache quality Feature Request: GeoCache Rating System Feature Request - Rating Cache rating System As long as users could choose to not see the ratings and CO's had the option to disable ratings on their caches I'm not totally opposed to the idea of a rating system...
  9. It hasn't been a week yet. It's supposed to happen tomorrow I believe. /me crosses fingers
  10. Found this in GSAK's forums. Hope it helps.
  11. If you're using Firefox, goto Tools/Options/Content/Load Images Automatically-Exceptions and remove that site from the list.
  12. Amazon has the PN-40 on sale for $299.
  13. FYI you can get the PN-40 for the same price (with free shipping and a free case) from Amazon without having to deal with a rebate. Mine is supposed to arrive today!
  14. Maybe Groundspeak should do something like that. Have a separate server just for GE with it's own separate database that could get updated from the main database a couple times a day or whatever.

You probably changed the display mode accidentally. (or maybe a forum glitch changed it for you) Click on Options in the upper right part of the page and select Standard.
  16. They may just have accidentally selected the wrong log type and corrected the error after submitting the log.
  17. I posted a link to that same bug in post #22.
  18. Not sure I agree with that. I don't doubt that this forum gets more posts per day than many other forums out there. More than most though...that's anybody's guess. My point was that there are other forums out there using the same/similar software that get quite a bit more traffic than this one does. Using the data from this forum's Today's top 10 posters page, I calculate that this forum has had roughly 1200 new posts today. Using similar data from a couple of the forums on the list I posted above, idolforums.com has had roughly 9900 posts and layitlow.com has had roughly 10900 posts. Based on that I'd conclude that the IPB forum software and the amount of traffic this forum sees isn't the problem.
  19. Is it possible this could have something to do with the problem? http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=20815 What version of mysql is the forum server running? Or does the mysql max_connections variable need to be increased and/or the machine needs more memory? IPB should be able to handle the amount of traffic this forum sees. Check out the first few boards on this list and you'll see that there are IPB forums out there that handle much more traffic than this one. It can be done.
  20. It seems a little strange that this forum chokes with only 200-300 users online (if the number shown in the Board Statistics section at the bottom of the front page can be believed) while the most users ever online at once (in a 15 minute period) is over 1700.
  21. The time at the bottom of the forums page is supposed to show your local time if you have the time zone set to the time zone you're in. I did a little testing and it appears that the Auto Correct DST feature may be affected by your computer's time zone settings so you might want to verify that those are correct. Or you could uncheck Auto Correct DST and set the DST manually.
  22. Are you talking about the time on this forum? If so, go here: Link and make sure it's set to the correct time zone and "Auto Correct DST?" is checked.
