  1. My favorite glue is E6000. It's like a super thick rubber cement and will bond almost anything.
  2. Found a stash of strange "stickers", a hotel room card, etc., wrapped in saran wrap, in a plastic box, in a ziplock bag. We thought it was the cache, but no log or ID. Found the real cache yards away and called the police to go pick the stash up. NOT going back to that one!
  3. I have a cache with a neat container, about the size of a cantalope, that I want to put in a pine tree. The site is already picked out, permission obtained, etc., but how would you put it up far enough in a pine to be basically out of reach? Climbing would be a sticky mess, but I was thinking of some kind of string and pulley or expandable elastic with a drop sting. Any ideas?
  4. We just visited a cool one today in one of our local bakeries: GCW918 SomewhereInTheWWW-It's 64,000 for you Cool puzzle cache, ammo box stored inconspicuously but in plain sight.
  5. Ditto the post above... My daughter and I cache together and have just created a separate account for her. We found that there were times that I wanted to cache and she wasn't around and assume that it will happen more frequently as she gets older. Right now we're backtracking and she is "finding" all those old caches and signing the logs. Fortunately, most of them are local! We do have a "policy": When one of us sees the cache, we have to back up a couple of steps (or ten) and calmly announce, "Found it!" Then we can actually say that we both found the cache, even if one of us acts as bird dog for the other.
  6. It helps to go for caches that have been found recently! If no one has found it in two months or so.... Also, go look on all the sites where you can buy cache containers, and eBay, to see what some of these things look like. A picture really is worth a thousand words sometimes. And read, read, read the forum.... Have fun!
  7. We have one on our "To Find" list the next time we go on a road trip. It's a 35mm film canister, but placed in a big tub with HUNDREDS of other film canisters and you have to find THE ONE with the log book. Just sounds like fun![
  8. So I'm Pollanna-- Why don't you contact the new owners, explain what geocaching is and what possible liability they do or don't have, and ASK for persmission? What can they say? No or yes for an awesome hide. You might even get someone new interested in geocaching?
  9. Hi! I'm upearly13 and I've been lurking and then geocaching with my daughter for a couple of months. We've found two and looked for the one closest to home four times.... A friend at work got me hooked and we are enjoying the hunt and learning a lot on the way. Our next vacation will definitely have a few more stopping points than ever before!
