  3. Congrats Brian, the next 100 will be just as much fun.
  4. eTrex Vista for 3 years not bad. GPSMAP76s is next for me.
  5. What would you it that for? I have no use for it! Do you?
  6. I need to spend more time in these forums! My stats are: 2001 Found 014, Hid 0 2002 Found 140, Hid 8 2003 Found 147, Hid 7 I hope 2004 is even better but who knows?
  7. Thanks I'll have a look. I was hoping a GPS head might have better reception than the vista.
  8. Help, I can't believe no one has an opinion!
  9. A good stiff whack is all it takes to clean up the lines in mine. I allways thought it was a battery conection, guess not.
  10. If we use a PDA in the field for the cache notes then we need to use it as a GPS also, right! I use a HP Jornada 568 and it works fine! Now I need everyone’s experience on which GPS head I should get and which mapping software I should use. I’m currently testing CacheDragon for the cache logging. I use MobilPocket for the notes. Pharos seems to be the most popular but I hear its poor under tree cover and it takes a long time for a signal lock, just like my eTrex Vista.
  11. I have used an eTrex Vista for the last 3 years with the usual complaints, poor reception under tree cover, I loose reception just from having it on my belt. The pros are all the advance features, the memory, altimeter, mapping features, flux compass, and the size, that one is a double-edged sward since a complaint is the screen size. These units are built like a brick. You can’t imagine the number of times I have dropped it in the last 3 years. I even lost it one time while I was bush whacking and found it a month later between two rocks by a stream, the case was soaking wet. I wrung the case out, toweled off the unit changed the batteries and continued to the cache I was after in the first place. When I replace it will be a new Map76s. It has the three important features for geocaching I want. Larger screen, external antenna, and waypoint averaging.
