    Disabled caches

Thank you for helping to clean up the database. As someone who occasionally spends holidays in the Maritimes, I really appreciate your efforts to help clear out the chaff. I notice a number of these do not have "need maintenance" logs.... why not post one if you believe it truly "needs maintenance" this will bring it to reviewers attention and also to the CO's attention.
  2. Try this: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?pq=27a3709a-358a-4b5a-832a-ea4015818d2c&sortdir=desc&sort=fav Moncton area caches sorted by amount of Favorite Points.
  3. Should have a list for you soon....It even may contain caches other than mine.
  4. Well, a CO just deleted my found log, because I was a little critical of his playground cache. Time to re-log.
  5. there are threads here about whether hive caches are a good idea or not. Consensus is that they are fine, no different than fake electric boxes etc. All kinds of crazy containers out there. Seems that there are entire nest shaped caches out there made with insulating spray foam cut and molded into a hive shape. In my work, I come across a lot of good sized honey combs. Yes they are brittle. Hence the query. Maybe it's time for a trip to the hardware store.
  6. I have some good sized honeycombs from a large wasp hive. I know there are a few of these hides out there. What would I spray the hive combs with, to make the 'container' more rigid and solid? Tx!
  7. That isn't logic; it's a rationalization. As MissJenn from Groundspeak once wrote: Miss Jenn does make is so simple. I enjoyed all your points folks.
  8. Do you feel validated now? By your definition, yes. And thank you for reminding me why I've stayed away from the Forum page. It turns too quickly from intelligent discussion to personal.
  9. so why bother bringing it up? Dita, please, if you're going to quote me, use the entire comment, don't cut out what you want, to suit your point. Geez. And you're friends with the group I refer to, perhaps they would like to comment. I didn't need to quote your whole post to simply ask a question. I just wanted to know if it doesn't effect your caches and they way you cache, why bother bring it up here? Everyone caches different. And our "being friends" with said cachers has nothing to do with my curiosity. Fair enough. Most subjects in the forum don't affect the way you or I cache. But the forum is still alive with posts. Questions, comments, and opinions are sought and answered. I asked what folks thought of a certain practice. Simple. And I gave my opinion of it. As a matter of fact, I asked a question about a subject that some wish would have been brought up sooner. Why did I bring it up? Because it's there. Same reason a thousand points are brought up on the Forum page. And I'm glad that I did bring it up. I now know that others feel the same way as I do.

  11. Let's be clear.... - The group is splitting up into much smaller groups or pairs, spreading out, then logging all finds that all the other pairs found. - they are not physically present at most caches logged. - No, this caching "method" of upping numbers will not affect in any way the way I enjoy caching. Tomorrow I'll be out enjoying a walk somewhere finding and signing some log. But it's the first time that I've encountered this practice, and I find it a little dishonest that folks will log caches they never were near, in some cases in another province. Seems to me that this practice would be like exaggerating your 'manhood'.
  12. On all caches. Few power trails here in the Maritimes.
  13. It seems that there are groups of 6 to 12 cachers from Nova Scotia and PEI who admittedly find nothing wrong with splitting up into pairs or smaller groups, and then all logging all finds. I read of an example of one cacher logging over a thousand finds in one day. Most members of these groups have find numbers in the five digits. These folks find that it's acceptable geocaching practice to log caches that they never saw but other members of their posse found. When a CO began deleting logs of cachers who couldn't describe the cache, these cachers got very upset according to the CO. Normally I absolutely don't care what people do, we all take away from the hobby what gives us pleasure. But this seems to be a questionable practice at best. Thoughts?
  14. I would imagine that store security knew about it. If they didn't, 117 successful cachers would have been rounded up for suspicious activity.
  15. Easy to do now that I've found Cachestats. http://www.logicweave.com/cachestats.html Under the "Caches" tab, choose "Show" + "Caches with multiple finds". You'll be able to modify or delete right from that page.

  18. I had the FTF on this cache, I didn't sign the log, I "inputed" my typed signature and saved. Perfectly fine for me to log as found. But it's not about the numbers, right? I liked the cache. Nice to see an idea that's out of the box. The CO did make every effort to comply with the rules. It was a Premium Member Only cache. Difficulty level was there. Tool attribute was there. The cache type should have been Unknown. I do agree with one poster, the stick will get taken apart again.
  19. I use these plastic jars that used to contain chicken and beef consommé powder. As the powder needs to stay dry, the containers' cap screws on tight and keeps the moisture out. Problem is that I only empty a couple of these each year.
  20. I've found that most of the caches from Irishtown Nature Park were removed from the Geocaching site recently. No news on the park in the last two months. Any news? What happened to the Snow White cache??? Also, what would you suggest for good caches in Moncton? I'll be soon introducing an aquaintance, nothing like some good caches to get the bug!
