  1. I wouldn't personally. Is there a particular reason why you want to use glass? Can you use a substitute substance instead? After seeing how roughly some caches have obviously been handled in the past, I would highly recommend against it. It will get smashed at some point. I usually cache with my doggo, and glass shards in a paw can be bad for both the pooch and my wallet. I imagine a receiving a cut hand whilst in the field will be bad for anyone, and cachers will always stick hands in and underneath everything. Especially children.
  2. Saddest sentence in this thread. I assumed we were looking at an adolescent here, not a fully grown adult.
  3. I've got to agree with you there. Maybe freeing up the spot for someone else to use their creativity and place a new cache is a better way to 'pass the baton on' than someone adopting a pre existing cache.
  4. Some image hosting sites (mostly the free ones) will add a watermark to attract more people to that site. That doesn't necessarily say that the images are not owned by the CO or whomever is posting the picture. But I guess that opens another can of worms regarding the advertising of image hosting sites by watermark on GS sites.
  5. Why exactly did you sign the log like that? I'm guessing with the added "Ha Ha Ha" it was purely provocation? It does seem a little childish to me.
  6. Thanks, I'll make sure I state it is the reference number in future. ?
  7. That is the reference number for the TB. I have not posted the tracking number.
  8. It sounds like something that will only wind you up if you let it. Yes, people are petty and annoying at times but life goes on. As others have said, it sounds like this person is protesting against the wording in your cache descriptions. Is it absolutely essential that finders log in perfect order? Most will sign the first available space under the last log anyway. Would it harm anything to remove the instruction that is causing offense before the vandalism potentially escalates? If it is essential to log in order, maybe you could reword it a little better or explain why the order is needed. If it was me, I would edit the descriptions, shake my head and forget about the whole episode. I would not be getting into a battle if wills with an anonymous person who knows where my caches are.
  9. I've only got 40 something finds, but have come across about half a dozen trackables. Some I've taken, some I've left. I predominantly use the Android app to look for caches in an area I am going to. If I switch to list view, instead of map, it tells me how many trackables are in each cache. If you click on a cache on the website you can see what is in the inventory also. They may be other ways, I'm sure someone else will wade in and tell you if there is.
  10. I was looking at releasing my first TB, and thought of dropping it into a certain cache. The cache in question is next to a motorway services, is frequented often, yet well hidden and in good condition. In short, ideal for a good starting point for the tb. Only thing is, I cannot see a way of dropping the tb in as I have already logged the cache. Is there a way to do this that I am missing?
  11. I picked up as TB called 10-Ball (TB6R25N) recently which should have had a miniature pool ball attached to it. Somewhere along its travels the pool ball had disappeared and a poker chip attached instead. When I logged it I stated the ball had disappeared, and if I could I would replace it before dropping again. I knew where I could get a replacement for a couple of quid, so bought one and messaged the owner who was very happy. I kept the poker chip attached for posterity and moved it on towards its goal. It gave me a sense of wellbeing as well as making the owner happy.
  12. I'm getting a message saying the invite is out of date or invalid. ☹️
  13. If I saw one, I honestly would see it as junk. If I saw another, and then another, i would actually try and piece together who was leaving them as I would recognise it as a sort of calling card. Which from what you have said, and with the avatar, is clearly your personal signature thing. That is what I can remember from when I cached before. It was almost a side game for me to work out who left what, then you had the feeling of knowing a kind of secret when you worked it out. Do you decorate the corks? And how much wine do you drink?☺️
  14. I've only recently restarted geocaching again, and only have 30 something logs, so I am still new to the game. I did geocache for a while about 10 years ago, and I seem to recall there was a lot more 'signature' swag about than I am seeing at the present. Either people leaving toys in a theme (I remember a local cacher used to leave little toy frogs everywhere) or home made jewellery and friendship bracelets. Neither appealed to me really, but it was cool to see and interesting to work out who was dropping what. It gave a personal feel to the swag I guess. Now it seems to be mostly bashed up toy cars with doors missing, used pencil erasers, pebbles or used hair bobbles. Is it just my local area? Am I looking back with rose tinted spectacles? I did come across a cache recently that was loaded with homemade gifts all labelled up. It was a pleasant surprise, even if I left them all after inspecting them. I have a stock pile of Lego figures and keyrings (well, they are actually decent chinese knockoffs of StarWars, Jurrasic Park, Marvel and DC comics, Simpsons and Ghostbusters figures) from when I used to sell them at markets and car boot sales, so I have been dropping them into caches as swag, although I never take anything out. I do it indiscriminately too. If the cache is large enough to hold one, a mini figure goes in the box. I am using them for a few reasons too. I am a keen Adult Fan of Lego so they reflect my personality, kids and grown ups love them, they are a cheap (I'd pay about 20p per unit) but fun, and i have a stockpile gathering dust. What kind of swag or swaps do you drop in a cache? What signature items do you drop, and who do you aim them at? Do you actually swap or just drop swag? Tell me a little about your swappable or swag story.
  15. Hi all. I picked up a TB today only to find it was a GeoKrety TB, and being fairly green I don't know what to do with it from here. I picked it up from a Geocache cache that I found through the official site, but I cannot log Geocaches on the GeoKrety website, nor can I log the TB on the Geocache website. I have logged a note on GeoKrety site for the TB stating it is in my possession, and gave the name of the cache it came from, but is there anymore I can do to log it correctly? Is the lack of cross referencing because of competing companies? Is this TB from a different game altogether? I imagine I will drop it again in the next cache and have done with it ( and only pick up GC TB's in future), as I don't really want to be logging on more than one site. Or am I overlooking something? Any help or advice welcome.
