  1. Is is allowed to make such an advertisement - or is it not correct I think it is a bunch of BS. Garmin should NOT be be making it out like the Oregon looks like that out in the day light. I think it is a bunch of BS. Wendy's should NOT be be making it out like the Big Bacon Classic looks like their pictures when it comes out in the tin foil wrapping. And don't even get me STARTED on those Cialis commercials.
  2. Yes I agree. What really gets me is that they are trying to advertise that this is what you will experience out in the field. ... <never mind>
  3. You forgot to add : Signs the logbook for me,
  4. Well, I wear boxers, why do you ask?
  5. There are several threads on this, you just need to scroll down this forum and look. Here's one : Garmin Oregon WIKI
  6. Am I imagining things or is there no "Delete All Waypoints" in Waypoint Manager for the Oregon as there is for the Colorado ...???!!! edit : Never mind! It's in "Reset" a la the 60 series GPSrs.
  7. I think that it was some kind of re-seating issue. Once I put my microSD card back in, the error no longer appeared. That doesn't explain why the error showed up when the microSD card was out of the unit.
  8. Hmmm, I am getting this message ( "Memory Full" ) a bit more, seemingly every time that I boot up my unit. A also got it driving home yesterday, no routing occurring. Anyone else getting this? edit : seems to occur with the microSD card out as well
  9. When selecting custom POIs I notice that I cannot select a custom database ... is this correct? I had just copied my several POI files from my Colorado to my Oregon. They show up on the PIO list but I can't seem to be able to select a particular POI database. Is this correct ( and if it's already in the Wiki I'm gonna scream )?
  10. Are you using the 2.2 software? Geocache names/GCIDs not showing up on the map page is a bug but at least in 2.2 I can select a geocache from the map using the red pin, select the cache by pressing the button up top and then hit Go. GO$Rs Ahhh, thank you VERY much for that hint. Yes, just press on the cache name, duh! Yup, on 2.2, thanks again for the hint.
  11. A lot of my Canadian buddies bought the Colorado 300 because the topo maps on the 400t were only for the US, not useful for them. You are in a similar situation with already having a set of topo maps. I'd go for the 300. off-topic from your post ... I have an Oregon 400t as I live in the US and so far am very impressed with the Oregon units ( I also have a Colorado 400t ). One nice thing that I like ( it's prolly in the Wiki ) is that I can be in the Automotive profile, select the Geocache button, pick a geocache and route to it. Then I can select the "Where To?" button and select "Recalc off-road" ( a la "Menu" -> "Recalculate" on the 60CSx ). I can toggle the recalculating between "Recalc on-road" and "Recalc off-road". That is SO nice! I'm sure that this feature will be added to the Colorado soon. What I don't like is that I can't seem to select a geocache that's on the screen and "go to" it. I need to select the Geocache button and find the cache that I want to find. Plus the geocache name doesn't show on the screen ( I'm sure that this will be fixed tho ).
  12. Has anyone gotten a "Memory Full" screen pop up when routing? I had this happen twice while testing out routing on the way to work this morning. Nothing bad seems to happen, I get the pop-up, select "OK" then continue on with life.
  13. Has anyone put a screen protector on the Oregon? I picked up an Oregon 400t yesterday and am wondering if one will adhere to the screen, given the textured feel.
  14. It sounds as if you owned a Colorado but then returned it after a short while ...? If so, keep in mind that your experience with the Colorado was with an older firmware version so some of your comparisons may be unfair/incorrect/outdated unless you compared the Oregon with current Colorado firmware. However, your comments about your touch-screen and brightness experience are good, thanks.
  15. Uhhhhh, have you bothered to check out the existing threads? ... iPhone 3g iPhone 3G and Geocaching
  16. OK, I got it, thanks. I used to route me to an AMC this AM. Is there an app that is showing coordinates? How are people trying to cache with it?
  17. I picked up one on Friday ( managed to buy my way to 9th in line, whew ). How are you folks using the GPSr for the 3G? I am trying to figure out how it's used, what apps use it ( I'm feeling like a simpleton! ).
  18. I had the issue of disappearing caches with firmware 2.51. But it didn't happen all the time. I wondered at one point if it was connected to loading waypoints at the same time. Sometimes when I copied gpx files and sent waypoints to the GPSr with Mapsource in the same session caches would disappear but the child waypoints and other waypoints were always there. I think I've narrowed it down to gpx file size but I can't say for sure that it isn't related to waypoints loading at the same time. Do you have child waypoints in your gpx file? I don't load child waypoints.
  19. There also a lot of us out there who have never experienced the drift on their colorados. And I'm one of them. It was more than usable, for me, with the 2.51 beta firmware.
  20. I just updated to 2.54 I had the same problem with 2.51 I can view a .gpx file with 2000 caches, unlimited logs (30MB+) I found a workaround that work for 2.51 (also works 2.54) - Download the .gpx file to the internal memory - Shutdown the GPSr - Now this is important : Remove the SD card from the unit for the first boot. - Boot the unit for the first time. It takes about 30sec. and you see "loading maps" at the bottom of the screen. At the first boot the Unit processes the caches (done only once when new gpx in Unit) - Put the SD card back The first boot is critical. You must do it without the SC card. For Subsequent boot, the SD card can be in. Voila Did you find that this problem existed using the 2.54 firmware? Is that why you tried this workaround? I have loaded a 15mb ( 1017 caches, not limit on logs ) file on my 400t with 2.54 firmware and, while I can't confirm that any caches are missing, it isn't the case that no caches appear.
  21. Well, I'm holding my breath on this one. It may be a problem with my laptop or usb cable - I am also unable to mount my AT&T Tilt and digital camera as drives on my laptop ... please, please! Whew! I'm back home and tried connecting with my desktop PC, no problems mounting my 400t as a "disk drive" when the unit has a sat lock. I'll try the other tests when I wake up in a few hours ... I'm sleepy!
