  1. I was going to try and write a greasemonkey script to bring 'on-the-fly' hint decoding back but I didn't bother because (silly me) I assumed that the loss of that functionality was a temporary 'whoops' and they'd bring it right back. Since it now seems to be that it's staying gone, I'll have a crack at a script... Shouldn't be too hard. Great - I can't wait!
  2. Here is a list which I would love to do. I did a few of them in a visit to Matlock last year, and they have fascinated me ever since: Guide Stoops Not my list, but a good one, nevertheless.
  3. That explains the 84 hides and zero finds then What next - celebrity caches ? Perhaps there ought to be a special icon for joke caches? (Only joking! )
  4. Here is my (not updated) Favourite caches list. This will motivate me to update the list!
  5. May I offer a partial defence of some of the caches mentioned? The Bus Stop Bewilderment series of caches started as a bit of a joke (the first one, I believe, started as an April Fool), and were intended, as far as I know, to be seen in that light. Maybe that wasn't clear from the cache page, but the title of the series does give some sort of a hint as to the lighthearted nature of these. The series of caches that are nanos on street signs, which are local to me, caused a lot of controversy in our area. The setter remains unidentified, although known to some. Some say they were set as a kind of protest against unnecessary caches - a case of sarcasm setting! I only did them because I made it a bike challenge - how quickly could I cycle round 17 caches? As a matter of fact I did the 21km journey in just over 2 hours - and the fun was in that achievement. I agree that caches are being placed for the sake of it and without much thought of how interesting they might be, but surely there is space for a few joke caches? I like nothing better than a long scenic walk with a cache to find as the bonus, and my best times have been when caching with one or two others in some scenic area.
  6. It gives nearest caches for me, but the distances are out - they have them much nearer than they should be.
  7. Must be some sort of glitch as mine works fine, up to a point. It has the distances wrong by about a mile. Oh well.................
  8. Wow! It is cheaper to buy from the US and pay the cheaper rate of shipping!!!!
  9. Are you going to the Mega Meet? If so, I can bring you one over. alex. Many thanks for the kind offer, but no I won't be going.
  10. Is there a UK supplier? Shipping costs, even the economy shipping, are horrendous!
  11. The OS map substituter is working fine under FF3. The forum tools are not. I hope this helps.
  12. This thread might as well be closed. We will know when the bug is fixed, because the ignored Wherigo caches will disappear!
  13. I've just realised that it is a Wherigo cache. Other ignored ones don't appear on my nearest caches list but it would seem that ignored Wherigo caches do not get picked up. Maybe an issue for the software people in the US? Where would I report this?
  14. Exclude hidden/found caches and ignored caches are gone. It is most excellent. Philip Filter out finds also zaps your ignored and hidden caches. The annoying one is Google Maps I've already put a request in.. Philip I am sorry to say that it does not filter the ignored cache in question - don't know why, though.
  15. Just the option to ignore hidden or found caches but no mention of ignored caches.
  16. Exclude hidden/found caches and ignored caches are gone. It is most excellent. Philip I don't quite understand. When I ask for the nearest caches, on my account page, it only gives me the option to exclude my finds. Where do I get the option to exclude hidden caches? Thanks.
  17. Why do ignored caches still appear on my nearest caches list? I know that they are not included in gpx downloads, but why aren't they removed from that list? After my account is involved in both functions.
  18. I am sure there is a simple answer to this. The time at the bottom right hand side of my forum page is showing GMT rather than BST. How do I put this right?
  19. That sounds a good start, and just what I wanted. I can find somewhere to eat I am sure. Thanks!
  20. I am travelling to Cambridge on Tuesday, and have to be there by 6.00pm. I would like to go a lot earlier and do a day's caching somewhere, preferable based on a village where I can leave the car, have a good pub lunch, and do a caching circular walk Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks.
  21. Maybe not? It translates as "Sperm Whale Restaurant" Exactly. It is built on the place where they used to bring in the whales that they had caught.
  22. How about a bash here: We did eat here on our recent holiday in Madeira.
