  1. The biggest problem with the old gallery is it was in an Access database. And it was about 4 times it's safe size (according to MS, it's max size). There were too many issues with it and it was honestly a waiting game to see it crash. Instead of letting it crash and taking everyone by surprise, we opted to take it down. Last thing we wanted was it to crash and everyone complaining and wanting their money back. It was easier on both us AND "you" (the user) to take it down per a schedule.
  2. Orders will be done via EMAIL ONLY. DO NOT reply to this message with a statement of how many you want. We may or may not follow this thread. We're trying to sell off what we have left of our stock of coins, so we're selling them for $5.00 each. S&H is $1.60 for the first coin, each additional coin is $0.75. They are individually trackable on Geocaching.com Here's what we have left: Geocoins Through the Ages - Napoleon - Antique Copper - 22 of these Geocoins Through the Ages - Napoleon - Foggy Silver - 18 of these Want them all at a cheaper price? Make us an offer. These are first come first serve, going by the date & timestamp of when the email is received on our end. We can't be responsible for any delays between your sending and our receiving. We also have some of the coins we gave away with a subscription to our forums which are now gone. These are numbered, but NOT trackable, and thus that is all the info I will post on these. If are interested in them, email us at info [at] geocoins [dot] net. Orders will be done via EMAIL ONLY. DO NOT reply to this message with a statement of how many you want. We may or may not follow this thread. As a result of that, we're going to try to stem the tide of questions with the following. At this time, we do not see the gallery coming back the way it used to be. We have tried many times and just can't seem to get the php/mySQL working right. Unless something magical happens, what you see is what you get. The archive is there and that's what you've got. The forums are also gone and we don't see a reason to bring them back. No, we can't make the aluminum or wooden tokens we were making in the past. We lost access to the laser we were using, so unless someone wants to donate $10,000 for the purchase of a laser, we are out of the token making business. Any other questions, please feel free to EMAIL us, as, again, we probably will not be checking in on this thread.
  3. Looks like maybe you're sold out...Bwahaha Yes, we have sold out of EVERYTHING! Thank you Robert and everyone else that has purchased from us in the past. It's been a blast!
  4. Thank you all for your support. We have sold out of quite a bit of stuff. We have a few "tins" left, these are altoid type tins, unpainted. Only 34 anodized aluminum tokens left and 201 of our basswood tokens left. Prices have been reduced even more to try to get this stuff out the door. We rather sell it than throw it away once we close our doors. Again, we are glad we were able to make all the personal sig items for all our customers. It's been a great ride. Brian, Rick & Marc GeoCoins.net
  5. Oh what the heck, you already do! Besides, you have my email and phone number somewhere too.
  6. After several years, GeoCoins.net is closing up shop. I am posting this here because our server seems to have problems sending out emails. Some get sent, but not all. I hope the moderators don't get upset as we do/did sell trackable coins - please see note below. If you purchased from us in the past and want to stock up before we close shop, now is your chance. Items are reduced in price and you can buy ONE if you want. We will be closing the store on December 31 OR when we run out of stock. Which ever happens first. So the latest we will take orders is on Dec. 31. Thank you all for your business in the past. Moderators, I sincerely apologize if you feel this post is not allowed. I feel because we do/did offer trackable items, that it *may* be allowed. I understand it is a gray area and probably a pretty thin line. I would understand if you decide this thread needs to be deleted. If that is the case, please accept my apologies in advance. The GeoCoins.net Team Brian, Rick & Marc
  7. Thank you all for your time and input. I've gotten several new places to look for prices and what I should charge. I am closing this thread as I feel this thread is nowhere else to go. Thank you again.
  8. With the first TeamAirik coin made by another member of our group, we did much the same thing as far as trading/selling. He minted 100 coins. Sold approximately 60 of them. We still have about 20 in our posession for whatever we want..selling, trading, dropping in caches, etc.. The other approximate 20 were traded. I would expect for this to be the norm. So your first 60% of the coins need to cover your costs unless you are willing to incur the cost yourself. Several of you feel that way and that is fine. However, I don't feel this way and I also feel, that although geocaching is a hobby and I enjoy it, my time to design the coin is worth a little something. The latest quote I got on the coins will put them at probably around $8.00 shipped if we mint them. That will cover my 60% sale and 40% trade/cache/keep ratio. Would I make some profit? Yes, but at $480, it's not much. The first quote I got was very high (at $8.00 per coin and only selling 60, I would lose over $100) and I obviously won't be going with them. So with the cost to me down, this brings down the cost to the community. Will trades happen? Certainly. As stated, if{/B] we mint these coins, approximately 20-25 will be traded, 60 or so will sell, the rest will be divied up between the members of TeamAirik to do as each member pleases (trade, sell, drop in a cache).
  9. Wow! What are the specs (colors, images, metal/finish, qty)? And do you have a scan on one I can see somewhere? Last but not least, where did you get them done?
  10. I understand and appreciate your comments. But I am really curious what "the community" feels is acceptable. Or had they not thought about it before? If I am going to purchase something, I expect that the person who made it is going to make more than it cost them to make. That is how the world works. If not, there would be no need for money. But in your eyes (to the collective coin collecting community), what is reasonable? Surely you don't expect the make to just give the coin away at their cost. But maybe I'm wrong. Off to read the post linked to. Thanks for the comments Damenace. I would also like to point out that all the comments in this thread are the opinions of me, NOT TeamAirik as a whole, the other memebers may have differing thoughts. Brian Allen aka Haughton TeamAirik
  11. I'll pose the same question here that I posted in the forum that started this one. How much do YOU (meaning each of you) think is a reasonable amount of profit? We all know that everyone that sells coins is making a profit. How much did you make? How much do you think they should make? Should a seller expect to make a 1% profit or a 10% profit? More??? Less? Should they be expected to sell at cost (and then watch them show up on ebay)? And I am very interested in the answers of all of you, especially those that have sold coins. This is of couse only if you are willing to divulge that information. TIA Brian Allen aka Haughton TeamAirik
  12. It's not that I'm trying to recoup the costs here, but if it can help suppliment the cost, sure. I did not purchase Photoshop for creating coins..in fact I used Corel Draw at first when the last place said they use and prefer Photoshop and sent me their template. So I used it. Should I include the cost of Corel Draw? As for hourly wages, are you saying you would make a coin and sell it at absolutely not profit? Your time is worth nothing? Yes, Geocaching is a hobby, creating coins is not. I have to pay to have them made. Asking if I'm trying to recoupe the cost of Photoshop is, in my opinion, asking if I'm trying to recoupe the cost of having the coin minted. Certainly. Though my job paid for Photoshop in my wages. So in your opinion, in all seriousness here, what is a fair profit for selling a coin? 1%? 5%? 10%? I don't know. Honestly, as stated before, the site coinsforanything.com sells theirs for $10.00. I figured they make them, so they are making a hell of a profit. I figured $10.00 was fair. Apparently the community disagrees. So be it. Law of economics. If you're selling something for $10 and no one buys it, you have to lower your price. What is a fair profit margin? Anyone?? Brian Allen aka Haughton TeamAirik
  13. There are three of us in this team. The first coin was made by one member, while I am working on this one. Not sure if the other memeber is interested in making a coin or not. Technically they are both team coins yes. Designed by different members. Everyone enjoys making something they can call "theirs". Thought I would try my hand when the first member got such great feedback. Brian Allen aka Haughton TeamAirik Then why not make them Individual coins instead of a "team coin" ?? Actually leaning that way. Lower the price and make it an individual coin. As for cost as several people ask. I'm finding more and more variance as I find new minters. The first place I looked was coinsforanything.com. Go there and check their price list if you REALLY want to know how much it takes to make a coin. On the other side, also realize it takes my time to create the design, take the picture, and place them all into a design for the coin. Now, I also have a LEGAL copy of Photoshop (current retail is $649). I will spend my time packaging the coins and mailing them. I will purchase all the packaging supplies. Shipping for one coin in the US is $0.60. If you want delivery confirmation, it's another $0.50 per coin. Then we again have to consider my time to go to the post office. So how much is does it cost? Depends on what you feel your time is worth. If the coin cost $6.00 each we'll say, shipping is another $1.30, so price is $7.30 per coin shipped. How much do you make an hour? If you put 20 hours into the design, and another 10 shipping, is 30 hours of your time worth $250? That's less than $10 an hour. And fast food joints around my home are hiring at $9.00 an hour. My personal feeling is if you feel the cost is too high, don't buy it, it's not going to hurt my feelings. Remember, the start of this thread was asking for comments and/or suggestions. I have not done a lot of research on getting them minted. At coinsforanything.com, they sell minted coins for $9.99 each, so I figured $10.00 was reasonable. Not to mention that there are more and more coins ending up on eBay. And that really baffles me now. People are griping about paying $10.00 a coin, but these are the same people that are paying $30+ on ebay. I don't get it. Thank you all for your ideas and comments. I will take them all into consideration when and if I do finally decided to mint these coins. Perhaps a personal coin is the way to go as other than price, the fact that "TeamAirik" just minted a coin. Thanks especially those that actually gave feedback instead of just complaining. 15. Coins and Pins does not charge extra for Shiny Gold. Do you have a web site for them? (Coins and pins)
  16. That's strictly the cost of the image. Then is the other costs. Die fees, gold instead of brass, color... Thanks for the info though. Sounds like $10.00 total is reasonable though? Including S&H. Thanks all for your input.
  17. Haven't done a lot of research on it. However one of the places I've looked at have quite an extra charge for images, $50 setup and $0.40 per coin. I'm still looking though. What would be a resonable price for most? $10 including S&H?

  19. 1.5" Shiny Gold Numbered, NOT trackable Front side (picture insert) will have the band raised with the text engraved instead of the standard raised lettering. $10.00 + $2.00 S&H Any comments? Would you pre-order/pay? How many? You can contact me directly at geocaching@allallens.com or just do the typical and leave a message here and I'll get back to it. Thanks! 20. Really more of a poll than a full blown topic. We're looking at making a new coin and are curious if the majority of the coin collecting community prefers Personalized (team) coins or generic geocaching coins? Thanks all! Haughton TeamAirik!
  21. That is a lot of coinage! Go figure. I am presonally suprised that people that purchase more than about 100 at once. That's a lot of ambition! http://www.geocoins.net
  22. Several designs are available at www.geocoins.net as well.
  23. Here's a few places to have your geocoins made... metal coins about $4-$5 each (I think a min. of 100) http://www.militaryspecialties.com wooden coins about $.50 each http://geocoins.net metal coins http://www.kvcoins.com/ We are in the planning stages of a metal coin, but are having a hard time choosing our design. ($400 dollars is a lot of money!) Good luck!
  24. I too just ordered more than $500 worth of merchandise from GPSCITY and all was in stock according to their site at time of order. I ordered a Garmin 60CS and City Select and to top it off I wanted it this weekend (I ordered on Monday) for an outing so I added two day shipping for an extra $20+. No response, no confirmation, no telling me it was backordered, so I contacted them. Their response was that it was backordered and might ship in a couple of weeks, but they were vague in their response. I also questioned about the two day shipping since I wanted the unit now and they refused to address this issue. My thing is that if you state on your website that it is in stock and will ship the same day, then if it doesn't (maybe weeks later) then why should I have to pay the two day shipping. It is their mistake they can eat it in my opinion. The worst part is that they didn't even notify me it was backordered, I had to go to them to find out. Which brings up my biggest concern. Are they going to bill my credit card immediately and not deliver for many weeks (if at all) As of right now with GPSCITY.COM's policies, I wouldn't order from them again. Marc of TeamAirik
